anyone have any chair recommendations for a large (6'2", 240-260 lbs depending on the time of the year) person that works from home and sits at their desk basically 12 hours a day 7 days a week?

i'm spending $750-$1000 on chairs every year currently. I haven't found one in the $250-$300 price range that lasts longer than 6 months

and they're rated for 300-400lbs so it doesn't make sense unless these companies (Amazon, Staples, DX Racer) are literally copy pasting specs for the chairs they sell and no actual weight capacity tests have been done. because based on the claims my 240-260 lbs shouldn't be killing these chairs 😂

i'd rather spend the $750-$1000 on a single chair, that'll last me 3-5 years

I think the team was a big part of the reason I actually enjoyed Solus as much as I did. They were super engaged with users. If there was something you had to jerry rig and it was all sketchy, because it wasn't in their repo and their package manager didn't know how to install it, you could literally just message them and it would be added at the next update, stable and not held together with duct tape like your install was 😂

Adding to the "listing off our storage" train, here's my setup:

Main Desktop: 500GB 2.5" SATA SSD for OS, 2TB HDD for games and documents/downloads/music/videos/pictures (cached with the 280GB Optane drive via PrimoCache), 4TB HDD for bulk storage.

External Enclosure: 8TB HDD for long-term storage and backups of important stuff (plus I recently deployed a SATA M.2 drive on a RasPi at my grandparents house half an hour away for really important stuff to be offsite).

IBM Server (X5 x3850): 200GB 2.5" SAS SLC SSD for booting Proxmox and handling any virtualized OSes, plus 5 600GB 2.5" SAS HDDs in hardware RAID5 for bulk data.

Also got a 2TB HDD and 500GB 2.5" SSD sitting with iMac data on them waiting for me to put that back together. And then 2 laptops with 250GB SSDs in them, one NVMe and one 2.5" SATA.

When I run those tests it's less about the numbers, more about testing system stability. Make sure your Temps are good etc. That's why I would use Prime95 and Furmark. You'd just run that all night, go to work in the morning, and if your PC is still running when you get back from work, that's a good sign you have a stable system.

Oh it's definitely overkill. That's the point. If anything crashes, that doesn't mean anything bad (although it could), but if it doesn't, it means you got a stable system.
