I've concluded that IMAX 70mm and the digital laser projectors are both noticably worse than a mid range LCD w/ ~2.5K local dimming zones, blows my mind ppl still pretend they're even half way decent

I saw project hail mary a few weeks ago on 70mm, peak brightness was trash, blacks wherent that black, AND there was a noticable strobbing effect the entire time that made anything white/light look like it was flashing/strobbing
Their digital laser projectors are also horrible, in light scenes you can see a cubist rainbow distortion, and ive been to latest gen laser projectors in multiple different large cities, all have the same issue

Thing with small screens is that yes you can achieve the same fov but you are extremely sensible to variation in distance, 10cm difference is huge and will destroy your fov, so you can't move at all

Which is why people prefer bigger screens usually

Also, while you do have high dpi on a phone what ultimately matters is the number of pixels per degree

So fov + pixels, and what's funny is that at 40° of FOV and 4k screen you'll get the same perceived resolution whether it's a 10inch phone or a 100inch tv

But with the 100inch tv at 40° fov you'll be able to change positions without destroying your immersion which is why it's better

oled is bad for jitter, i preffer higher quality mini/microLEDs.
Screensize doesnt matter for video/image quality, so long as its held close enough to your face and you end up with a good viewing angle.
Actual size does matter because the resting eye position is a few meters in front of you so for optimal viewing experience you want a big screen, but for pure image quality it doesnt matter much. Many other reasons why viewing expeirence is better on large screen.
I'm a big supporter of 8K and 16K, everyones stupid who suggests that it's unnessesary, even a 55 inch tv at 12 feet will benefit noticably from 8k and 16K IN GAMES and UI RENDERING, but in movies and tv shows, they add so much blur to everything that its so close to pointless to go past 4k tht i really dont care

You're right about 2024. You cannot turn off streaming at all (unsure if it has changed). You would have to download map areas if you need offline support (that's a WIP).

2020 is the right choice for offline (although it looks soo beautiful online and you should check it out). But the size of 2020 is still significantly more than 2024.

That was the key reason (other than money obviously) for creating msfs 2024. 2020 kept ballooning up in size. The game in steam is 1GB but when you open it, the "checking for updates" tab installs the remaining hundred gb. This is from Tom's hardware:
