You don't wanna go that close to the storage cap. Ssd use a portion of their storage as an SLC cache. Usually 20-30% of the storage is a cache so for a 512gb you wanna have bare minimum 100gb free.

This isn't just a performance thing but wears out your ssd much faster. And the last thing you wanna do RN is wear out your ssd given cost.
