Personally, I don't see the value in deviating from the proprietary locked down OS that comes with Apple products, especially for how much they cost. If you want to run Linux, do so on a Virtual Machine or cheap secondary device.

it is more of a pain to move to asahi, than to just use macos, especially considering you lose a lot of support for certain hardware, and if you value battery life especially, macos is still better there. if you wanted linux just get like a cheap secondary device if you really wanted to.

This was known as "Gap". This is a period of time where the asset is at risk and this violates any terms and conditions that you have on the vehicle based on a lender.

It took lenders a long time, but they eventually realized that they needed to outright BAN any commercial use (such as doordash or rideshare) of vehicles that they provide lending for because instead of 10,000 miles a year a driver is doing 100,000 miles a year and depreciating their asset and creating a risk level that is not considered when negotiating APR.

You know what's funny. Waymo's biggest issue is actually the amount of wear and tear that it puts on the vehicles

For instance the ipaces they use have full commercial like $700 a corner tires designed to take curb strikes at speed (Safer have a bruised passenger than a passenger involved in a rollover). But the issue is is although they have algorithms built in to tell the vehicle to slow down when it detects a pothole and such they don't quite have the resolution on the cameras to identify that maybe it should slow down a bit more for drainage.

All of the iPace have effectively no bushings left in their suspensions 🤣

In areas with a high level of decision confusion.. They have allowed development drivers to manually program certain behaviors. For instance near the pickup zone by the airport the vehicle drives itself until it approaches the light which has very faded markers then snaps itself into a lane as it goes into the predetermined program and proceeds to take the left wall crossing the double yellow line and then arching wide into the second lane rather then maintaining its lane position.....

This was a manual free program by a development driver. Once the manual program ends the Waymo jerks realizing that it's not in the correct lane and then slowly works its way back over three lanes to correct itself 🤣🤣🤣

The desert is what Tesla explained. I guess the preheat pump cars were more efficient in our climate.

They said for instance cabin cooling would use about 5% of your battery because it would not only cool the cabin it would also try to bring down the temperature of the battery itself so 15 minute cooldown was about 5%.

Tesla (non LFP) wants the pack below 50C, and will limit The charge rate in an attempt to control it to that temp.

When you show up with a 47C battery, then say "charge at 250kw" (arrive at 3%) the system tries, engages the air conditioning, but simply can't control the heat it passes 53C, and the aggressive limiting occurs. It will still try and charge quickly until ~60C is hit.
Since ambient was 46C, you can see why the LFP was slamming into thermal limits with its prismatic cells lack of cooling. Vs the cylindrical cells.

I think the best way to explain "real world" is like R35 GTR, If you look at the 0 to 200 mile an hour acceleration curves you'll see that the GTR was beating everybody in the 1/4 miles and on most race tracks.
but once it got to 140 mi an hour all of the other cars drove away from it. This is because it would be in 5th gear (iirc) where the other cars were just getting into third gear. This really hurt It's high speed acceleration curve.

I would say that comparing standardized benchmarks from a single reviewer you can use the percentage offsets to make realistic expectations because they are intentionally designed to showcase the differences in gpu

If you use that unless you're using settings that exceeded what they benchmarked you will always have more performance than you were expecting but you're much less likely to have situation where you buy a car that doesn't do what you need to do and now you're trying to find another solution.

My only concern with egpu is you will be introducing a bottleneck which will be the bandwidth connection if not the CPU of the device itself that you're connecting it to...

@undone mountain I feel your pain. I looked For a solution and as long as they have the same file names, Windows will not allow overwrite without a prompt. So in a way you can distinguish what are duplicates?. Not perfect by any stretch and it takes a lot of work but a workaround nonetheless

File size comparison would be the way to go in my opinion. However, as for utilities I found none that would do it exactly as I wanted so I ended up doing a lot by hand

What I did find was chucking them all into one big file on one drive and then doing it manually. But again I'm talking a 8tb drive and almost 6 months in and I can see the light of the end of the tunnel so it's definitely not a job to be undertaken lightly

I'm not a hater, I basically work with windows daily (mostly ad stuff), the quality has been declining since years on the backend because of the Microsoft focus on services and I don't see this changing anytime soon

Well a lot of their services are built upon windows, so it makes sense to keep windows "free"-ish to lower the entry point and lock the consumer onto their platform, the issue I have is them trying to capitalize on the os itself when they could focus on the services they offer on top of it

Copilot and 365 (and others) shouldn't be necessary for running windows, same for the Microsoft account, it's too integrated into windows even tho it offer no advantage for a regular consumer (with no subscription)

in low poer i get 12 e-cores that are just fed a bit more power, and 1.3-ish Super cores.
vs the 4 e-cores and 8 P-cores i am used to

this is why my m5 max preforms 60% worse than my reject pile M4 pro dowes.
