#

They plan to implement an “algorithm” built into the printers to detect gun parts as if that’s even possible

#

(It’s not)

#

The only thing the 3d printer see is a text file listing commands that tell it how, where and when to move

#

It has absolutely no context as to what’s being printed

#

Even if an algorithm has access to the 3d files or something it would still absolutely be impossible to detect

Anyone use Plex here? Got a general question

#

I've got my own server but mainly use it as a local media server (upload speed isn't that good where I am) but I always see these massive Plex shares with 40k+ movies and 10k+ TV Shows for around $40 a year. Isn't that almost worth it? Yeah I guess you are paying for what is most likely pirated content but you're also paying for the hardware and the software that's letting you access it (hard drives, networking equipment, servers, etc). For that price wouldn't it make more sense to go with that rather than me continue my own personal Plex server? Just been looking into it anyways as I've seen some of these Plex shares pop up over the last few days on Reddit

If you mean sites like G2A or others that sell game keys at a steep "discount" ... Most of them are grey market or straight up doing illegal things to get the keys for that cheap. (For example, some sites knowingly purchase batches of keys that were acquired by people using stolen credit cards.) It's recommended to only purchase from legitimate sources, or those that the developer officially sanctions.

i can dig up the the numbers if you want from our feasibility study. running cost was like $0.69 per mile, vs $0.07 per mile. redoing the fleet yard with level 2 (and a management system) was $450,000, and we could buy 2x for every 1 truck.
based on the #'s , if c-suite wanted to get aggressive, could 3x the company size in 24 months from just this change alone. Assuming we could fill the roles fast enough.
hell their biggest appeal wasn't even total cost, it was per mile consistency since rates are locked in for a year at a time vs fuel. when you negotiate a job 12 months out when fuel is $2.60, then it becomes $5.69 .... suddenly your profitability on the job just plummeted.

Nice, I only issue with the LFP was the charging curve and effectively ZERO cooling. It just falls on its face WAYY too quickly especially in the desert heat. The Y LFP was a JOKE LOL. Would start immediately heat soaking during the initial charge on the DC. You leave at 70% after an hour and 15 minutes. Drive the 1.5-2 hours of range that you've got. Go to plug back in and see that the car is limited to 15KW for the first 30% and then 1-4KW for the rest of the pack. Sit there for 6+hrs 😭. And learn why the LFP is cheap, when you see 30% power available because of the heat and stuck doing 40MPH in a 80 zone.

"is it gonna keep going straight with the wheel turned or is that actually going to turn? Should I turn the wheel more, or will it roll over under the sidewall?"

Nice, when I bought mine it was .09 per kilowatt in the middle of the night at .11 during the day. In March it should up to .65 per kw during the day, and .35 at night.

Unfortunately for me based on my calculations I should have never ever needed to use the supercharger unless I was on a road trip. But I simply could not recharge the vehicle fast enough since it was using 60% of the battery every single day with my daily commute... It was supposed to be 25% max.

I went to the service center and they said oh yeah no that's what these cars do here because it's so hot... Kay ... You aren't commission... that's probably something you should have advised me of especially when I gave you my exact plans 45 miles a day.

I mean, it was doing it at 80F in March. DCFC builds HELLA heat! And then there's not enough radiator in the car to actually get rid of the heat quickly enough. But then also just last remindful that it's structural so if you cool it too quickly damage cells. I understand WHY. I just thought they what engine are their way around it.

On the heat pump cars they will run the compressor at full tilt but they'll only give about 15% of the cooling capacity to the interior, when the batteries are approaching the thermal shut down area and this typically will occur when you start to see half of your power bar covered in dots.
I got mine down to 1/4 power once when I was hopping from one charger to another because there was some issue and it was charging too slow.

I understand, Tesla's verbiage is if it can drop 20° from the exterior temperature the vehicle needs no service.
Well I want my interior at 67F even when it's 120F out and cruise is set to 82MPH. And it just WONT do that.
The preheat bump cars not only can but they do. They also run into battery temperature limitations very very quickly vs LI since they don't have any ability to cool the battery at the air conditioner.

I believe Monro live has a full deep dive and there's some university that also has one for the Tesla Y cooling system and you can see the lack of surface area being a MASSIVE issue on the heat pump cars.

If you're seriously telling me that you've never had any of the thermal issues that I'm talking about you're not even close to "heavy use"

hell I didn't even tow with my Y ... They use over 1,000wh/mi at 75 mph towing. Meaning 60 miles per charge ish, And then because you depleted the battery so quickly by running full power continuously then they refuse to charge for a good 30 minutes They will just sit there on the charge of running the cooling system..

Here is ALL the battery cooling you get on heat pump cars, it SHOULD be enough, But the compressor is undersized for dropping the interior temp by 50F and cooling that 60C battery pack, well it's also building more heat from continuously providing power to the vehicle.
that is THE issue. It should have been dual compressors one for the battery one for the interior and we would have never had a problem.

graceful mortar
graceful mortar
# winged spire ive had issues with the cold, literally none with the heat and its 95 degrees an...

It just depends, on all my road trips I have to first stop at the supercharger to make sure I'm able to make it to the next one.
So the battery's already nice and warm, Then I drive a hundred miles and I need to charge it again completely and so on and so on.
I kept mDC charges short, I typically unplugged at 70% (except for the first one which I took it until taper which was typically 80 to 84%) unless I knew I needed more and just stopped at every single charger about every 45 minutes to an hour there for 15 minutes and gone.

So like on a single day I would do ~5 DCFC. I also had the adapter to use CCS chargers as well.

graceful mortar
# vapid smelt The chevy ev silverado won't fast charge with the AC running 😆

Yep, because It has the same basic cooling design philosophy as the Tesla heat pump cars. AND, because that battery pack is so damn large and a lot of stations charge per minute not per kilowatt so it's important to get as much as you can as quickly as possible It gives a better "user experience".

The user can't complain about slow charging with the air conditioning on if you just don't let them run max air conditioning. 🤙

# winged spire not a single model y driver would agree with you lol

No no. MY model Y that I bought was doing 370-404 per mile at 80MPH cruise. Like literally my car. I got a 2021 model Y lowner at first and that's when I learned that the old suspension was substantially better because my 2023 would just slam the bump stops constantly going down the road.

The 2021 Y consumption was not that much better. I mean we saw like 350 to 370. The SR+ 3 was the best as I showed above. The LFP 3 Numbers was 273 BUT I felt that it was invalid because, The Mixed tires, the vehicle was also constantly running into the performance limiter on the highway due to heat. therefore was unable to maintain the same set speed all the other cars did, The other ones with stay between 78 and 82 the LFP would fall to like 69 mph. 👀

graceful mortar
# winged spire sounds like you should have pursued lemon law 🤷

Couldn't, in order to pursue lemon law first manufacturers to identify that there is even a problem ... if they claim that it's "operating as designed" even if you can show that other vehicles are performing better they can claim manufacturer tolerance and you have no case.

graceful mortar
# winged spire

Yes, And non-desert environments I'm told that it is completely fine in fact I'm told in areas where the air temperature is not over 140° entering into the radiator they are fine.

But you also have to remember something, when it leaves the DCFC is at 59C 60C is when it aggressively starts pulling power. You were trying to take that battery pack slowly so you don't cause damage to it all the way down to 30C ideally. You can't really oversize the liquid cooled condenser because then you'll damage the battery. So you're limited by the LCC's actual capacity. However, You're then also asking that air conditioning compressor which has last BTU capacity than the previous cars to also cool the cabin.

Tesla's algorithm is obviously to prevent the battery going up in flames while you're driving so your comfort becomes the secondary to their battery safety. Even running at 8,000 RPM (which is the maximum compressor speed) it cannot stop the battery from picking up 20C in a + 60% charge session. Now you were driving and depleting slower than you can charge. However you're still generating additional heat load.
So are you adding to the pack about ~25-30% of the heat per second that you were when you were charging. That air condition compressor is trying to get a head on the battery cooling,

meanwhile you're telling it to perform like some of the largest automotive air conditioning compressors do to cool the interior, and it just can't.

So I know the "woz" and shared the core master remote video. He really liked it. he didn't watch it all of yet but this is what he said:

This is the COOLEST thing I’ve watched in ages. I’m impressed that the presentation is so accurate and complete. I’m amazed too at what I did way back and how good it was, although I was lucky to have had a great development team. I’ve only watched part of it so far but as soon as I have time I’ll watch the whole thing. I’m especially glad to see others recognize the greatness of making a universal remote a computer and the method of learning codes. I admire others who do things like this.
