idk the specific software you intend on running, but the 9600X has an RDNA2 iGPU with H264/5 encode and AV1, VP9, H264/5 decode.

you could actually go 8000G and get AV1 encoding with its 740M. Though still I don't really know about the state of support in software.

At least on the 7000 series that I have, all the decoders and encoders are exposed via vulkan. I can't imagine why software wouldn't support it at least through that but I don't actively use any video streaming software so idrk

I saw you put btrfs, but their RAID5/6 mode is still experimental. It even got a rewrite not too long ago. There's some settings you can tune zfs with that'll tame the ram usage, though yeah with a perf hit.

Basically the speaker cable was under that black isolating tape and the battery that was screwed on top of that insert kept vibrating when there were people talking or bass in music cause the speaker was vibrating the battery and the chassis.
I put that black tab down on the sticky part and put the speaker cable over it, and after remounting everything the speaker was free mechanically isolated from the chassis and now it doesn't do it anymore

I am so happy I don't have to ship it to lenovo to fix

I've seen the estimated runtime as high as 12+ hours though if I don't have background tasks running (Dropbox, Discord, etc.) so it's definitely capable of lasting an entire day if necessary.

Gaming performance is far better than the Dell XPS 15 9560 I had with an i7-7700HQ and GTX 1050 GPU, but it's still a thin and light laptop so... you get what you pay for in the form factor it was designed around. Cooling isn't much different between the 14 / 16 inch versions FYI - sure, mine has "more room" for airflow, but realistically you're still looking at hitting 70-80 C with the fans going 100% speed if you run the laptop at maximum load.

Yee. For example though, right now Windows is estimating poopy battery life because Dropbox has been file syncing for the last 20 minutes. 🤣 Use the cloud they said. It will be better than local storage they said. Yeah, better for who? I could prevent this by regularly using my laptop, but it only gets powered on once a week when I visit my favorite cafe, so it's kind fo my fault in a way. If Dropbox were not syncing, Windows would likely show a 4-5 hour battery remaining estimate.

Only cloud storage I use is the standard 5GB onedrive as I use it to sync obisidian notes and minecraft worlds when I change computers

Most of the time it doesn't take a lot of time to sync

Also, gaming wise, it runs eSports titles like Rocket Legumes, Overwatch 1 (v2 (v1 (Final_Beta_ReallyFinal))), and Apex Legumes at 30-45 FPS medium ish settings at the native 2560x1600 resolution (when plugged into a sufficient USB-C charger, of course) but the fans always ramp up to 100% so... if noise is a concern, the Yoga series are not the right purchase. I rarely game on this though - pretty much only when I'm stuck in a hotel somewhere or on vacation.

Mine has been very quiet since I have got it, some games it even runs with the chassis that is cool to the touch and fans barely spinning, like rainbow six siege and the easiest one to run has been No Man's sky
I also have to add that I don't care much about maximum resolution or textures, I just care about running the game at 60fps with the smallest settings that make it look ok for me

the hardest game to run on this is for me was csgo, because it almost always is around 80-90% GPU usage when in balanced mode

My last computer was a ryzen 7 5800u, efficient too but a bit old and started to struggle to get 5h of battery life, which was a problem when taking notes at university

Also, I can't get over how many useless words companies still put in their incident / outage communication messages. I count "at this time" / "as of right now" at least 3 different times in the same update message. Like, respectfully, no shit - there's a date/time stamp at the beginning of each message. Unless you specify otherwise, why would I have reason to believe the statements you are making are related to another date/time? Or maybe my brain's craving for clear, concise, point form bulleted information is the real problem. 🤷

Yeah it''s human nature to add filler words to our communications. IDK. When I'm writing (or reading) incident messages, I only need to know the Date/Time, what's impacted (both from a backend and customer facing perspective), workaround steps for staff / customers (if they exist), and "next steps" for both staff and customers, even if the steps are hurry up and wait while we work to fix it. No need to say or tell me things like "at this time X" or "we want to provide some more info" - duh, if you didn't want to provide more info, you wouldn't have written this.

If you are a beginner, I do not recommend getting it with the AMS (thats for multi color printing), that adds like $150, and it will create a filament storage problem really quick
