I have a philips tv, I HATE the interface, it also lacks support for some apps and it has this weird bug where when wifi is enabled, input lag is horrible (I game). Now I was looking into an apple tv to squash both issues: the input lag and the abhorent interface. However, 166 euros, seems quite steap for a streaming box, even with apple integration. I watch TV everyday. Are they worth it?

I have a question. So, i have a good monitor, thats like 165 hz. I also have a GT 650. The GT 650 only allows 100hz. I was playing around in sertttings and Nvidia control panel, and when i hit 120hz, it work like half the time. I settled at 115. I accidently set it to 120hz and like 800X600 resolution. Now, whenever I turn on and plug in the monitor, i see the windows 11 opening logo, but then i see a blue line on top, and it doesn't turn on.

It's a weird problem, I would try to troubleshoot only HDMI rather than HDMI to DP. I don't have exact steps honestly but it sounds possible. When you figure it out it'll be a rush and us simpletons who plug n play will forever be dumb.

Ah so it's not that audio doesn't work, it's that something won't handshake between your output device (computer) and your AV receiver. Has this ever worked before, like say when using a different computer as the output device? Or when running Windows?

in windows it worked fine but that was also with a 3060 not my 7700xt I didn't hook up the av reciever untill after I switched to linux because I was waiting on another hdmi cable for it because the 7700xt had less hdmi ports than my 3060

and I didn't have one to go from the reviever to my 2nd monitor

Gotcha. I would change your hardware and/or software back to when it worked so you have a known good working baseline to start from. Once you confirm the receiver can still receive audio via the physical connection method you're using, change one ONE variable at a time until you find the point where it stops working.

In my experience, some AV receivers are very finicky about how they perform handshakes with source devices.

ok finally fixed it I had the audio input on the reviever set to a different devide than the video input which I didn't think was possible and I had the wrong hdmi device set as the output because it both the displayport and the hdmi where the same "device" just different profiles

You can? You don't have to store the keys on your Microsoft account. You can choose to save them locally, then back them up somewhere super safe, cause if you lose them... All data on the drive is lost.
