That's what I do on my laptop. 512GB boot drive, with a secondary 2TB random crap drive. (I didn't need 2TB, but it was $120 CAD back in Winter 2023 so... 🤷) Everything I can't lose (personal files, photos, etc.) goes on the 512GB drive, which is backed up regularly, and the 2TB drive only contains stuff I don't care about losing.

This Wifi 7 router is cheaper than the Wifi 6 version, and the quest 3 doesnt support wifi 7.

the question is, does Wifi 7 connectivity muddle any connections at all? or is it not worth even getting it due to most devices not supporting it yet

you want more? wifi 7 is built on top of wifi 6, which is in turn, built on wifi 5.. a wifi 7 router, is a wifi 6 router, with more stuff.. a wifi 6 device connecting to a wifi 6 router, will work fine, because wifi 7 is compatible with wifi 6. just because the device isnt wifi 7 capable, doesnt mean it wont connect to a wifi 7 router

once more... your pc will be streaming video to the quest.. thats all PCVR is.. streaming video to a headset.. it will be using 40-50mbit.. so as long as your wifi has more than that, it should work, double that to be safe, double again to be super safe. so as long as you have a router with 200mbit, your pcvr will work, and then, you MIGHT notice a latency difference with better routers/connections, but, wifi is only so-stable.. and you are at the mercy of wifi being wifi

most engines are deferred and potentially using (some) RGBA32F format instead, which is significantly larger, for off-screen targets, and there will be at least two in the swapchain, so probably on the order of an additional 100MB-200MB of framebuffer data for 4k vs 1080p.
games also generally like to use higher res textures when you are playing at a higher resolution, which consumes more memory, but isn't strictly because of the res itself

That makes the most amount of sense, particularly also the offscreen elements.

It's basically just that some games will cache a lot of things to load in as you're playing, even stuff that aren't immediately on-screen, just so that it's pre-loaded to ram so that data doesn't need to be streamed in from storage or extra draw calls have to happen in order to fill in the blanks.

For the game I work on, I know we also don't have an "L2" for GPU resources, if they are evicted from the GPU, they will have to be re-read from disk.

It's theoretically possible to evict from vram to system ram, mostly mitigating the issues, but that's not an easy thing to actually implement

Mostly because you then need to weight CPU needed resources against GPU evicted resources, across all hardware configs

I did a mobo swap cause It was cheaper and my computer was crashing on boot. Same issue. Did some RAM tests that passed. So I swapped the 5900x from my x570 board to a b650 board I had laying around and It works fine and the 3600x work fine in the x570 board
I can only imagine that a part of the CPU that failed isn't used on b650?
