is this a common problem? or am i just really unlucky with random problems.... windows 11 sleep mode went black, then id get a constant windows loading icon, and it would not go to diagnosing your pc for startup repair, black screen. UNTIL i did startup repair through my installation media. fixed my problems. but is sleep state corruption a common thing? bizzare on a rather new installation. and also if its common, really terrible for the average user.

yea, a friend i had a year or so ago, the laptop we picked out like a year before that had the dreaded intel devouring problem.... microcode cooking the cpu.... basically i had to repeatedly help them manually disable cores, and other features just to keep it from bluescreening. and underclock and undervolt.... aka crippling it so it wouldnt crash or burn more.

and just a month ago when i still had windows 10 with the extended program... my 12 year old main ssd, an old 840 pro spontaniously died losing me all my stuff.... so i was freaking out earlier thinking, imma be damned if im gonna reinstall everything and reconfigure everything AGAIN!

also my laptop is held together by duct tape, its split, the fans are completely broken and useless, i have it clocked to 10% if i move it it bluescreens because the mobo is cracked...... it lives on a platform on my bed for ambient sleeping videos lol

or just boring videos or movies or w/e im falling asleep to, but if you touch it it crashes and the keys only work about 10% of the time, the connector is bust i think too. XD

should it still work? 1000% no, its like a zombie.

know the sleep issue isnt ram related as i tested it when i had that ssd issue recently. also the issue was 100% consistent in recreatability during the drive corruption, and it was drive corruption. not a random crash at a random time depending on what chip is being allocated.

gpu, 3070ti tho.... its good, but the real restriction is 8gbs of vram.... luckily its not a huge restriction at 1080p since most games run amazing for the price to performance. i dont need more because i dont need or want a huge screen. a 100hz cheap but vibrant extremely basic monitor made for gaming at those exact specs.... its fine, infact ive used more expensive ones and i prefer lower res on monitors because if its already retina i dont need subpixel accuracy.

id rather have better visuals and high performance than stuff i cant see at resolutions i cant appreciate. or sizes at my distance from the screen to fully utilize in an important way? i suppose ultrawide is kinda cool, but having used it before, i find myself focused almost exclusively at the center all the time anyways.

I saw in a set up video that someone installed windows on their pc and the moment they signed in they created a new drive and only used the new d drive saying c is only for essentials

Then I saw many videos where people do that ( realised its a thing )

I am also using chatgpt for assistance, when I asked it the same question it said it's a good idea just keep the applications still on the c drive

Keep other docs , media on the new d drive

But then it beats the purpose of having 1 essential c drive and ur own personal d drive

So if i was to ( untouched laptop just pre installed apps like lenovo vantage and lenovo legion gaming software with Microsoft office , etc ) just create a new d drive

Start using the d drive for everything shift the default storage location to it and not even touch the c drive

I won't have any clutter or problems right?

the c drive is still the default for user aplications, I don't think it is possible to install apps for all users without touching the c drive

While you can do this, I do not recommend it due to you eventually needed to adjust partition sizes, which is very annoying to do after you've set everything up.

Instead, store your files where they normally go, and make regular backups so that when something goes wrong you can reinstall Windows and restore your data.
