Update on Lenovo repairing my $5,200 laptop they broke during a previous repair attempt ... It's been 3 weeks and it is still on hold with zero ETA... Paid extra for the fast turnaround "Premium service" ... uhh huh.

but like with a laptop you're also talking about a mini LED screen at 1000 nits, you're talking about running the GPU, the CPU, the RAM, and the storage and the speakers and the LED lighting all in an envelope of under 250 watts and that's just not really possible with the desktop.
I mean that CPU is running at 65 Watts but it's boosting and holding 4.6 GHz on 16 threads 👀. The GPU yeah the mobile gpus aren't really great about sustaining boost but they settle in around 1.8 GHz.

I bought a laptop ~ 2009... It came with an overly tight hinge I called and they're like "oh it'll loosen up" well one time I went to open the lid and it the screen cracked... This was on week 2 ... They denied warranty coverage on the $900 machine which, as you will probably imagine, in 2006 was quite a lot of money 😭

Fun fact with that... laptop chips are not covered by Intel warranty... But solely by your OEM (who will likely push a bio update that cuts 20% of the performance out of your product to make it stable) nevertheless, if it's bad, they have to replace an entire board which typically contains a $1.5k- $2,000 cost to them GPU on it.

Because one thing is ever since Note 10/20 Samsung has been aggressively throttling down screens based on temperature in order to basically eliminate burn in

but it makes it very difficult to use outside in temperatures above 80° because they immediately overheat and clock down to like 300 nits and you can't see shit. Like cup both hands over your phone to try to read the screen bad...

It was probably a demo unit in the store . when they're running demo mode, Samsung just lets them run hard because they're supposed to be replaced every 30-60 days. And a lot of carriers use like custom modes and they don't have any OLED protection such as pixel shift.

Yeah I mean there's not really a perfect way around it you could put a very very hard structural piece of plastic in there which would stop it from being able to transmit the forces through the laptop but that's going to make it uncomfortable because everybody's spine is a little bit different.
Additionally the pocket of holding being so far forward in the bag means you have a large amount of downward force from the top. So it's not really ideal you'd maybe want some cinch straps to pull it tighter to keep everything as one unit and that would maybe help but it's just one of those things of like compromises.

Designing a backpack is like designing a tire there is no perfect formula otherwise everybody would just do that..

Last time I tried Windows built in screen casting from my desktop, it only worked when the desktop was on WiFi, not Ethernet, even though they both put the desktop into the same subnet. Something about Windows screen casting (Miracast) required the client device be on WiFi at that time but maybe they've changed this?

Our main problem is that... staff are not tech savvy at all, and some of our locations are well over 3 hour's drive away, with a few requiring plane flights to reach. Oh, and we have some TV's that are used as meeting rooms, and some that are mainly used as digital signage.
