Different batteries have different amperage ratings, theres about 50 different sizes, different terminal types (lug vs screw), which orientation the terminals are on, dry vs wet cell. Not any battery will work in any car. Not every 12V car battery is the same.

Some batteries are $200+, that is normal these days. You can get a value 24 group new from O'Reilly for < $80 excluding core.

That being said, any manufacturer voiding the warranty over a 12v battery is fucking stupid.
