That would be possible if every AI model was combined yes, but because of companies and countries fighting over power and money instead of focusing on the true betterment of humanity, LRMs and LLMs don't have true thinking capability, atleast in a similar way to a human, so it's currently not good enough to advance humanity in the ways we want.

If we were to start working together and stopped caring about money and power and allowed every AI model from every country and company to collectively work together, then I think we would more than likely already have AGI and all the research that can improve humanity and the world would finally be achievable.

Also if we were to have them all work collectively as collective neural networks instead of current token based system, then it would be far more capable. Then if you give those collective neural networks the computational ability of say a 10 million or a 100 million cubit quantum computer, then it would have true reasoning and thinking capability and would be able to truly help humanity change for the better.

I do think though, if we were to collectively combine every LLM ever made and removed the constraint of the token architecture, then yes, LLMs could easily be capable of AGI, but individually, potentially not for a while. If say GPT-5 or when we get to GPT-7 had the power of a quantum computer, then yeah easily. It's all about computational capability.
