upon further inspection the old laptop is not completely dead. but either the chinese replacement battery or usb c charging circuit seems to be. it will not work on usb-c power at all. it does power up with dc jack, but the battery will not charge. the power socket has also been replaced so the pc does not recognize the charger properly. i dont think this has stopped it from charging before so my guess would be the battery

Anyone here used the Acer Nitro 180hz 34 inch ultrawide monitor, the $300 one?

I just bought new gpu, psu, and ram and my pc won't turn on so my only option is to plug an hdmi into the monitor which caps it at 120 hz. I already don't like how it looks, if you move your head at all it basically goes from black to white and does that weird color shift, and the colors are wishy washy.

Do you think it would look any different if I got my pc to work and plug a display port into it and run it at 185 hz?

I'm thinking about returning it and either buying a ktc 165hz 34 inch 2k that my friend has which looks good but my laptop has 240 hz so im looking for a 2k 34inch ultrawide 240hz monitor also

Gotcha. Looks to be a budget Ultrawide high-refresh-rate monitor. Not saying it's bad, but you get what you pay for. Anywho, I cannot see the color quality improving by changing from HDMI to DisplayPort; you'll get faster refresh rate, but that has nothing to do with the image overall.

Modern OLEDs have a crazy amount of anti burn in tech

also they aren't as sensitive as older OLEDs

especially if you don't run full brightness

if your worried about burn in a lower brightness and enabling pixel shift in the settings helps

Most new monitors have countermeasures for burn-in
