so i was talking earlier about how people are switching their profile pics to clippy to protest where technology is going, i think its because clippy is just a lil guy who wants to help, give suggestions, etc, whereas anyone else creating software with AI and such built in want to profit off the data they get from you using the software, yknow the kinds of actions and anti-consumer things youd find in the consumer action wiki, like changing the terms of the sale which adds things that erode things like privacy and bring enshitification, throw in updates to hardware you buy that basically act as a ticking time bomb until the company goes under or want to force you to subscribe to get the features you had before, whereas if you reverse engineer and basically revive that product its illegal for some reason, and switching your profile pic to clippy is your way of saying "i want more software to be like clippy" in hopes that enough people see that and follow along. basically if youre of the mindset that hardware and software should be there to help you like clippy does, not help you for a while then ransom you to continue helping you or just screwing you over later in general, then switching your profile pic to clippy helps show that
