Everything is about the short term for these companies, I didn't even have fttn when I moved into my apartment and it was built in 2019, they had to redo the infrastructure again when the government forced them to install fiber in my town

VDSL networks are also only "last mile" DSL but the speeds are a lot lower (max 250 mbps) and the government here already invented plans to slowly shut the DSL network down (which will probably take like 20 years lmao)

it depends on the games u (or your friend) wants to play. if you stick to competitive games or even games w/o raytracing its absolutely overkill , if you stick to ray- or pathtracing in modern AAA games then it should be fine for 1440p 144+ Hz, but I'd rather go 4K 144 Hz with that GPU honestly

i have a 1440p 165 Hz monitor plugged into a 4070 Ti Super and I can play pretty much anything on maxed settings, even with RT (maybe not with stable 165 FPS especially without Framegen but 5090 even has Multi-FG at that point)
