Hell, even Creality has had a greater impact on the industry than bambu
Prusa is probably not my cup of tea tho
Ender 3...
I got P1S non combo cause I thought "I don't care to print in multicolor"
How wrong was I to not get $200 ams bundled in
He never said good or bad impact
The ender 3 was a fantastic impact
Fawk this ender 3
I mean the ams is nice even if you don't print in multicolor
The first actually cheap mainstream 3d printer was the Creality CR10
Easier access to the filament and keeps it somewhat dry
Yeah that's what I wasn't considering when I was purchasing
Ender 3s also work fine if you know what you’re doing 😛
People are literally making them core xy's lol
I wouldn’t call them Enders atp
Yuh
I’ve bought many of the microcenter 100$ Enders and literally every one of them has worked flawlessly out of the box with some basic manual tuning
Now i wish I had it cause i could easily switch between colors or petg/pla
I also bought the x1c combo cause that was the only version of the x1c in stock but we don't talk about that
I made a wise purchasing decision
This is one of my ender 3s now
If you get an ams get the ams 2 tho
Lmao
How many printers do you have?
I want a roller bed so bad but speed calls and vzbot is the answer
Oh yeah in a way I'm glad I waited; but from a value perspective, the bundled AMS1 was unbeatable
Because if I'm buying ams full price, ams2 pro is very compelling
I mean I found some upgrades for the original ams that allows you to dry filament but eh... I can dry it in the x1c chamber overnight if I want
I do have a dryer and I don't live in the most humid place
You know what? 1 is enough for now 💀 (for me)
Ideally I'd find an ams in eBay for cheap, but people seem to be holding onto them
Unless you have carbon filled, wood filled or a particularly hydroscopic TPU you don’t need one
In practical terms PLA PETG and even likely abs and asa won’t absorb enough moisture to ruin a print
I dunno I heard that PETG and TPU absorb moisture pretty fast
And good god my environment is humid
I’ve got some 15 year old PETG that’s been sitting in air the whole time that still prints fine
(I live in a swamp)
Idk I might get a prusa as the next one if it would make sense but for now it doesn't
You can slightly improve surface finish by drying it but like.. who cares
I printed a phone stand today (I'm bored)
Printing too fast is much more detrimental than the small amount of moisture
(most high speed print profiles)
Btw what's ur opinion on cf filaments?
Good surface finish
That’s basically it
Unless your goal is just to stiffen a part up it’s useless
Tensile strength is killed by the short carbon fiber strands
Also you don’t really wanna be touching printed CF parts
ya I know
CF is a skin irritant
Not really
And that would take away the biggest part of the cf filament
If you sand it that nice surface finish goes with it
@keen cedar
ah then I will sand it (I finished the PLA spool that came with my printer)
thats neat
Nice, online streaming coming soon 🔥
finally
wait orca slicer is based on bambu studio?
wow, sounds a lot like linux distros
idk wtf is wrong with my PC if fusion runs poorly and it does
btw are you one of the "benchy rebels" as I like to call them?
wow
sell on ebay for $120
so many hackers on hypixel skywars holy
hacturs*
👋
this is so funny
What artifacts?
I like how every time that I add something to my cart on amazon it gives me a notification "Your cart is calling" as if I actually put it there with the intention of buying it
keep them guessing
I set up my first SFTP server 😎
👋
Nice
Send it to me 🥺
for 60$ thats kind of a no brainer
as much as I hate iPhones
me so broken I don't have 60 dollas
indeed
check who it's from
Some random used phone seller
It’s not like you’re gonna get scammed on Amazon, if the product is fake or whatever just return it
Could be a pricing error but also could be a crappily refurbished phone
Amazon refurbished for phones is pretty dog
Source: I'm a phone repair tech of over 3 years
Hey yall
Oh hey maybe you would know
How annoying is it to replace Apple Watch batteries
Not that bad if you're ok with paying for a new screen
Otherwise, borderline impossible if you don't have a lot of practice with it
And even then it's risky
I looked up the ifixit tutorials and my main worry is fucking up the screen :p
The screens are $60-140 typically depending on the model
Expect to have to buy one
And it will not even be close to water resistant after
Yes
Getting new adhesive on older models is difficult
It's usually dried to shit when you get it which makes it less than useless
Overall if you've never opened a phone don't open an Apple Watch
You're better off selling it to someone who can
I've fucked around with laptops and phones I'm just worried about the screen since it's so tiny (and now the waterproofing lol)
easy way, just do not break the screen
I can probably get a couple more years out of this thing, just annoying to charge it every day lol
Right of course why didn't I think of that
i have yet to really break a screen
on an Apple Watch?
should i trade my google pixel 8a for a nothing phone 2
I fucked up a screen once (it was still in the computer and I hit it with scaffolding)
also remember that is last year phone and i do not think it gets a lot of software support not fully sure tho rn
plus if i do it im getting the nothing ear a for free
wdym
software support the reason you went pixel right?
The Nothing Phone (2) is designed to receive three years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates. This means it will get major Android version upgrades for three years from its release date and security patches for four years. The phone launched with Nothing OS 2.0 based on Android 13, and is expected to receive updates up to Android 16.
no i got it cuz i traded my cards for it and it was basically the only phone i could get
came out in 2023
god dam do i just love the deal i got on the phone i got now
I'm too busy spending money on fb marketplace to get a new phone
what is it
if it were up to you would you guys do it?
me: google pixel 8a
them: nothing phone 2 + nothing ear a
motarola edge 50 pro with 12GB of vram, 144hz screen, 512GB storage, 125w charging and comes with a charger like that with PD 3.0 so 100w charging or ofc other PD levels for other things and so on
all for 380USD converted from NOK
lenovo
The Google Pixel 8a will receive its last software update in May 2031. This includes both Android OS updates and security updates, as part of Google's seven-year support promise for the Pixel 8 series, according to Android Central and Wikipedia.
2031 jesus
yeah its long lol
why do you not like it
Not enough ai
😭
i don't use ai a lot so idc about it
When the tool is ur phone
My pixel 9 has more ai
the pixel is more modern, more advanced i think faster and so on while also lasting until fkn 2031 vs the nothing only getting like 2 more years
jesus usb 3.2 and wifi 6e
My pixel has wifi 7 so it should last me till 2031
i knew it
lowk nothing phone specs are worse too i think
the pixel is faster
Are you seriously saying you repair Apple Watches or are you just saying "screens are easy to take off" in general
i think the pixel is better in every single way over a nothing phone 2
wat
iv only said the fix is to not break the screen in the first place
okay lmao tbh i just like the aesthetic of the nothing phone 2
i dono probs a skin you can put on the pixel
they know how to advertise to gen z 100%
Sure and the fix to not having problems in your life is to have an easy life
ummmmmm probably not
I went to close my pixel 5a after replacing the battery and broke the screen 😢
Pixels are terrible
how so?
They're designed to break
No u
get rekt
i don't get how people break their phones
uh
like a small crack is understanable but a lot of ihpone users have shattered screens
The software and hardware seem nice until you realize that the parts are horrendously expensive and extremely fragile
How's that
sure they are lmao, i drop mine on the road constantly. has no scratches or cracks.
i drop my phone so much and the worst i have gotten is a small crack on one of my older shittier phones
Google has a deal with ifixit that sells oem pixel parts
which one
6a
That is not the problem lol
well phone cases and screenprotectors exists
How come the invites are paused lmao
Look up how much a Pixel 6 OEM screen costs
tensor, other than that they're solid
a person in my old class got a 15 PM i think it was then a few months later broke the screen xd
Yeah and I sell both and the phones can still break. They're not "easy" to break they're just significantly easier than other popular phones
faster then the nothing 2
yes but pixel 9 pro is $999
yeah but it shouldn't be a problem if you actually take care of what you have lmao
i wont replace my 6a for another 3 years or so.
and the iphone 12 is faster
They're not very repairable. The screen is very easy to repair and everything else is very difficult and/or tedious
he already owns the pixel 8a
Why designed it to break then make easily sourceable parts?
yeah if you are perfect and never have any accidents, you don't have to worry about the durability of your devices
i think its just a phone
oh they own one already
yes
Think about this for like 2 seconds
yeah then sure wtv
even if i do make a mistake i have one of those big ass bulk cases and a screen protector so i think im good lmao
but want to i dono trade for a nothing 2
the worse thing in the google pixel 8a i will say is that it kinda overheats easy
but in general the only shit thing about pixel is the soc
Just like as long as I never get into a crash in my car, I don't have to worry about its safety features
Cybertruck moment
Do a Pixel 6 Pro battery repair lol
true but that is just what happens, apple got shit on until they got a few gens out
And then tell me how that's the only shit thing about them
oops all ai
also Apple parts are easily sourceable too
I'm no phone repair expert but apparently their phones got a lot easier to repair as of late
what
you mean the repair program that costs a shit ton
xiaomi's first attempt is better than the current g4 lol
and the tools you need costs even more
They want you to buy new phones not repair old ones
Remind me how much a Pixel screen costs?
it's actually almost on par with like the 8 elite and d9400
The tools you can optionally rent for an extra $50?
And so does Google. Just because they aren't as openly evil does not mean they're good guys
i just send mine in to whatever store does it
don't need to deal with that kek
99$
Pixel phones wouldn't be repairable at all without Google parts anyway, there's no even decent alternatives let alone good ones. iPhones have a huge amount of aftermarket parts available because they're so popular. Apple is a victim of their own success in that sense
he said screen not repair
well yea
but the screen costs 99$
a real apple screen is like 200$ from apple or more
https://www.ifixit.com/products/google-pixel-7-pro-screen-genuine
$219.99 for a Pixel 7 Pro screen
Oh, my bad, that was with the tools. Silly me, you can get it without the tools for $212.99!!!!
I don't know why you're arguing with me on this. What is your argument? Pixel parts are affordable?
No it doesn't.
There are some models that are $100 but that's essentially the bare minimum
so this is a apple screen or what you saying?
Convenient that you picked the cheapest Pixel screen in the last 3-4 generations
And an iPhone holds its value far better so it's usually far more economical
cool?
The Pixel 8a screen repair is also a nightmare
i could not care about any of this
I'm not saying "Apple good" I'm saying you fanboying for Google is not going to change reality
i hate google?
The reality is that Pixel parts very quickly outpace the sell price of Pixel phones
Google and Apple both suck for repairs, 👍
And unlike Google, Apple at least allows you to replace your fucking charge port without soldering lol
Oh, you let your $1000 Pixel 9 Pro XL fall off your nightstand with the cord plugged in? Guess you gotta use wireless charging forever now
have they not paired that part yet
They never did and probably never will
Apple has a very particular way of going about things and you wouldn't understand unless you worked with them for a long time
You need an extra tool to flash id number on parts with apple
And you still won't understand, you'll just be aware of it
no resolder
What parts?
Screen and touch id for sure
Someone remind me why we're arguing the phone repair tech on how phones are repaired
no clue
Wdym by touch and ID?
man just came in about that stuff
Only one of us actually knows lol
you know how the home button was parts paired same with the front camera face id?
Since iOS 18 they don't disable any features if you have an unpaired screen
FaceID and TouchID are paired but you just transfer over the relevant parts
Since the iPhone 14 there's been virtually no risk to losing FaceID during repair
I replaced and iphone 6,7 pixel 5a battery and iphone 7 and pixel 5a screen
They also made it so battery health works on unpaired batteries including aftermarket batteries
Fair enough
I'm still upset Apple added a new useless button instead of putting a touchid sensor in the power button
In this video, I try and uncover a method to restore true tone without the original screen. Made it short and sweet for you guy, enjoy!
Thank you for watching!

Restore True Tone
Phone Repair Guru assumes no liability for any damage caused to your phone as a result of ...
old af
True Tone hasn't been a thing for literally eons??
what
2021 video
i think tom has been using a 3rd party screen for eons
i have it on my 15 pro
Isn't that the shit where they tint the fuckin bezels
no?
Oh maybe I'm thinking of something else then
what???
"True Tone is a feature on iPhones that automatically adjusts the screen's brightness and color based on the surrounding lighting conditions, providing a more natural viewing experience."
TrueTone doesn't need to be programmed since iOS 18 and honestly customers NEVER care about it so it never mattered in the first place
There's probably like 5 people that actually care about it
?
They dared to put their logo on a chip
I have been doing repairs on iPhones for 3 almost 4 years and I have never ONCE had to use a programmer. The worst thing that happens is you lose FaceID or TouchID if the front camera/sensor flex or home button, respectively, are broken
well those are 2 massive things on a phone
i think that one is the chip they slap on their screens so you cant even reprogram it
Who cares if you can reprogram it
Biometrics aren't essential to the functionality of the phone. I'm not saying Apple is right to lock them behind paired parts but my point is that it is almost never a problem.
Truetone is ass
The only thing you would ever do this for is to get rid of the Unknown Part message and that's only important for "refurbishment" centers that rip off their customers with shitty aftermarket parts
there is also the tiny issue of apple using OLEDs now
there is a person in here that was i think just asking if it was ok or smn if he bought some broken apple phone slapped a LCD on it and did not say it was a LCD on a phone meant to have a OLED
like yea the price difference was some insane like 10X difference
i think the LCD was 20$ while the OLED 200$
Ok but can we come to a consensus that the 16e is trash
But it is true apple puts unneeded obstacles for repairs
It makes a huge difference
No shit
Every phone manufacturer uses OLEDs now pretty much
That was why we were all clowning I him
The type of people using LCDs are the ones that do the solder job to remove the unknown part message
Apple took way too long to switch to oleds
Also LCD tends to use more power so have a higher chance to damage the screen driver circuit
Its been 5 days since thier last video, I wonder what they cooking up
I think most people who buy iPhone are buying for the brand not performance, cuz my mom and dad have iPhone 12 pro max and they use it to watch yt videos, take pictures, and message, and you dont need lots of performance for those things.
Nobody is forcing anybody to buy a iPhone, just buy a android device if u dont like apple 🤷♂️
But until the iphone X 2018' Apple had no oleds while Samsung used them on smart phones back in 2009
And? Just dont buy apple 🤷♂️
They in their own bubble they dont really care about competition
Until they lose customers they wont update their products fast
I'm just saying apple took too long to give users good displays
Ik im just saying they dont care
what
Can someone recommend me a disturbing show to watch on Netflix
I can’t find anything good rn

Movie human centipede
Or American horror stories
Is that region locked to somewhere
Human centipede sounds like the perfect thing
Not even sure it's on Netflix
Pantheon I guess
But only the ending will really make you rethink your life
I'm a big liar It's not on Netflix
Yeah it’s prolly not in Netflix
Maybe ill try takopi’s original sin
Keep seeing it on my fyp
Beamng/10
3/10
r/tvtoohigh
I fucking knew
And i even told my parents but nooo its too low
Ahh well its survivable
good, now get a 50" one
You may as well have put it on the roof
😭😭😭
Probably would've been more comfortable on the roof tbh
🥀🥀
it looks a tad bit high than usual, but maybe if you're a bed person its good?
let's go I recovered 126 +- pictures from a sd card from 2016 :D
Wdym bed person
like laying back on bed chilling n driving around yk
took me like 20m to read the hex code of the files to understand what file format they were i think i could have made a script for this instead of doing all manually
I am bed
Hi bed I am Vlad
I tried to play dbd too it worked but then i got targetted
Ce amuzant esti
wait a minute u romanian
yep
Bro who tf sends messages then deletes them
idk
It gives me vibes of when i was playing roblox and there was this one guy that when he sweared on his vc a beep played
It was unironically comedic
y'all is Unturned worth playing?
@surreal wyvern got a bug with picture and picture not showing the Closed Caption not showing up on the picture n picture but shows up on the orginal screen.
Fu-beep
Imagine not using #pilot-toast
#pilot-toast is my favorite chat
Ah man I love using the no-access channel lol
So much so that I don't even know what channel it is lol
epic picture I found on old sd card
Wtf 😭😭
ads were as stupid as they are now even in 2016
I miss those days
Back in my day ahhh
idk why but i got so many bubble shooter ads ss on the card 😭
Idk either
Same we have no gross white or green name people in it
Guys should i try to play cs2 with a ps4 controller
I hate those guys, I would never be one of them
avem cs-u in sange. poti sa joci si cu un cartof pe post de tastatura si maus ca tot dai 360
ma doare capu
Stai in engleza
aight
Cool
Uhuh
why so many romanians i know like dexter ;-;
I only understood 360
cs-u mean counter strike
I just got the oh so great idea to play war thunder
We have the counter strike in our blood you can even use a potato as a keyboard you will still hit 360s
on short i was telling him that romanians have cs in their blood and even if they would have to play with a potato instead of a keyboard or mouse you will hit 360s
fuh u were faster
My fucking Roomba says it's stuck near a cliff while being in the basement
The og Wii that can play GameCube games
right now? steam deck
historically yeah og wii
Today my lil Putin ( my cat ) lost his wings ....
he no longer has balls the vet took em
For me it would be the steam big picture mode
Aka my own pc lol
Didn't steam say they were gonna release a console?
Romania
yo guys i need help i was not on my computer im using brave browser and i was on youtube and i just came back and this random website scam bitcoin website called guano opened on my computer? what should i do?
i havent downloaded anything that i would think that would do this and i have no shady extensions and i have no allowed notifications or give permissions to any website
i have been on a couple of shady websites though when i was trying to watch soccer/football for free
A guy with a soccer teams logo watching soccer for free, no never
I dono switch to Firefox or smn
it was only for one match cause my subscription wasnt streaming that match
guys whats wrong with buying a 8GB VRAM GPU if im planning to stay 1080p as long as possible
I would recommend downloading malwarebytes and doing a virus scan
alright thank you
i game at 1440p with a 3070
i am completely happy with my purchase
Linus has a p1s?
If it does what you need it to do then there's nothing wrong with it. Just be sure it will do what you need it to do.
Yeah he talked about his love hate relationship.he has with it
He does 3d printing on top of maintaining the Linux kernel? Busy man lol
Finally Amazon shipped out all my drives
sexy
How big
8TB is too little for my liking
Get a free 15-day trial of Odoo’s all-in-one business solution and see how it can make your life easier! Check it out at https://www.odoo.com/ltt
Now that Bambu Printers may be harder to recommend after their latest update, what 3D printer should Linus buy next? To find out we asked Jake and some other youtubers (Jeff Geerling, William Osman,...
I ain’t got that much data to store. More worried about keeping it safer
how much did you spend per drive?
And Jellyfin for shit not on streaming services lol
You got a off-site?
you mean linux ISO's right
$200ish
I need about 24tb for my NAS, I figure. I got lots of video to store.
I basically am my family’s off-site lol
Well that’s what I’m gonna have once I configure the raid array
You could have gotten 20tb drives from serverpartdeals for about that price
Main issue I'm facing is that the drives I got can't do spindown well truenas ain't doing it and the space I'm in does not have ac while also being super energy efficient so every watt I make I need to live with kinda
543
I got a server with 6 HDDs each doing about 5-10w alone
I went super size/energy efficient with mine
No DGPU
i had a server with about 20 drives doing a bit more than that per
Itx server
got toasty in that room
You do know the GPU just gets turned off when not used
well ish
Then I’d have to do an MATX server
Or settle for 2.5gb
And it holds the same amount of drives as the itx one lol
or just get a 1u and call it a day
What are we discussing?
You would need a massive rack tho
Well not massive
I can't
Phantom very well could
Wait nvm @viscid elm it’s 12 + 4 the N3 that I got is 8 + 2
Yes
Meh I like the tiny high density build
Worst case I buy a JBOD
Or get bigger drives
You can get denser drives for the same price you paid for your 8tb drives
I have 10TB of media I should transcode on a 11900
So pro tip start transcoding early
Yes but they are crappier
i need to get a decent blueray driver so i can rip all my home movies
You can pretty much make it yourself. Racks are easy as hell to design. If you need to fit a couple of units, it might be cheaper and easier to swing by Home Depot and pick up the angle thingies
In no way shape or form
That’s why I went with a cpu with AV1 encode
you can get a 1u wall mount rack for like 20usd on amazon
Why?
0 trust in cardboard walling
1u is plenty seismically safe assuming you place it in studs
Recertified sketches me out
It shouldn't, they even come with a warranty
They're basically rebuilt if needbe
They're tested to identify any issues, and those issues are fixed / have the troublesome component replaced
I might get some recertifed Exos drives when I need to fill the other four slots
But 24tb is enough for now
I plan to get a handful of those 20tb drives at some point
Are you doing raid 1 or raidz2 right now?
probably 10, 5 in two servers
Honestly, 36TB for what? What can you fill 36TB with?
movies and shows
4k recordings
Okay but a single drive?
Z2. The one with 8tb of raid overhead.
Well they are not meant be be used like that
Okay but like
Hear me out
if for some reason you're hard limited by the number of drive bays and need lots of storage it makes sense
You’re not using 36TB of data at any given time. If you actually do have a need for 36TB you’d be better off with tape storage imo
They're evidently selling quite well given they're sold out in most places
If that’s ur problem u probably aren’t dealing with 3.5 inch hdds
Always kinda freaked me out. Why not follow the DB architecture ways and just not use HDDs for persistent prolonged data storage
Depends on the space
Or Seagate didn’t make a lot because it’s a halo product it’s a “look at me I made big number” product
This
U can fit like 6 ssds in the space of a 3.5 on the low end.
but why, people wanna pay for it
Do they though?
Lie
does a company want to make money
How much do you think 36tb of SSDs are
Far more than 800tb
o yea i did the math, in Norway 12TB usable raid z1 of nvme storage costs as much as 40TB of HDD raid z1 storage
Contrary, there’s no scenario where you need 36 TBs of SSD space
aka 4 4TB NVMEs vs 3 20TB HDDs
If you’re not a data center
so LTT is a datacenter?
If you're a business there may very well be
LTT has also filled up the petabyte server
LTT is a look at me company. Let’s be honest and clear hear. It was a want more than a need
.
Theres plenty of usecases for large amounts of ssds storage
To claim there isn't is ignorance
There’s no real application for 36 TBs of SSD storage though
its funny i thought my 14TB server was a massive amount until i started using it, i have hit 80% so many times
Ltt literally has a YouTube channel, so "look at me"s make their income
gaming VMs
You are the perfect person for the 36tb HDD then
There's even businesses that rent out spaces for LAN gaming events that need bulk, high speed storage
well money
Im not arguing they aren’t. Im arguing that’s not a normal use case
Fwiw networking and actual build content is their best stuff
i would like to but the server i have almost cost me nothing
I really hope they do more of that soon
2 20tb are cheaper at $350 a pop
Oh that’s neat
A link?
there is also you know the basic stuff that most people might have a use for like storing multi high res security camera recordings
Speaking of, i finally got a proper UPS for my rack, normal price is 1300, but i got it on sale for 400 as it's refurbed
i badly need one
You're free to google it yourself, there are lots of them
a guy even gave me a pi1 so i plan on maybe doing NUT on it
If i give you a link it'd just be a random one i pull from a different country
400$ for some in Norway
200 from SPD
I mean, you kinda mentioned it, I was wondering if you had any particular example? I am not familiar with that particular business
As i've linked previously in chat
no real place to get used HDDs in Norway
lan cache
I mean i'm not going to provide a local example as that'd nearly dox me
But is it really 36 TB of SSDs though? Or can it be done with a bulk storage and a fast cache?
anyone know why when i alt tab specifically any video that i full screen or just have in google or in the youtube app it kinda duplicates(like a ghost copy) the tab. but there is still only 1 tab
Oh yeah that’s understandable then

GPU power is so expensive
i can imagine at like a 500 person LAN convention or something there can be a use for it
LTT hosts whale lans, and plenty of people do similar stuff
imagine doing something like 100 gig to some main switch that does 25 then does to 10 gig for the users or something
like... you can get old(2015) highend servers for dirt cheap with some decent CPU power but nothing remotely equivalent for GPU power

Holy sheet yall house content
and at 100 gig you do really want to have SSDs
ik, i'm currently trying to find 1u 1slot render cards
Some ssds id agree. But not 36TBs of ssds
I am starting to unnecessarily feel bad about my purchase
a310
500 people
I'm looking at the a1000
spensive
Fits my usecase perfectly
500 people doing what? 1gig a second worst case? Idk man
thats not even very much
single slot, slot power only cards that actually have 8+Gb of VRMA are hard to come by
like you can get 8tb sata drives for what... 300? each
LAN gaming?
you know downloading games
updating drivers and their pc
maybe even watching some videos that relese when they are there
I got that part. Still. Doing 1 gig down for 500 pcs is not 36Tbs of cache
when did i say 1 gig
From what @winged spire tells me Bambu doesn't use standard/universal parts for their printers too
GGC servers don’t have half of that
I did, I’m trying to count
also its not like 1 pc with a 1gig means the max load the server could ever get is 1gig
Not really about that, cause even if they did ain't no way I could find them in my area
imagine it like this, if you do the networking right and every person there only had 1 gig but they all downloaded at the same time that would be half a Tb of data that people are trying to download
ofc not a thing that will happen but that is why the server gets 100gig
if your country has literally any form of functional mail system you can get any parts in any area
What I am saying is that it 500 gigs of bandwidth in the worst case scenario
I am so sorry I cannot explain
That’s manageable. I kinda still stand by smaller fast cache and larger long term
I can order linear bearings to the moon bro
i could order a live walrus to central australia if i had the funds and the willpower
you own a bambu so obviously youre able to order things from china
When did u buy it and how is it for the games you play today?
because if we're talking abt happiness then im completely fine with my RTX 2060 🗿
Bought it in a physical shop like it's the 1800s
long term?
bambu has a main center in the EU?
I am too tired for this conversation
i bought around may or so this year, and so far it handles all the games i play relatively well, i may needs DLSS here or there when streaming to discord, but i run native 99% of the time.
My point through this discussion is that there are very limited numbers of use cases where you would utilize 36 TB of SSDs
Thus you most likely don’t need 36TBs of them
There’s a frequent use part and long term storage part. Anything outside of that is spending money in vain
so why are datacenters doing petabyte SSD racks?
They are not
XD
I am still happy I didn't buy a core one cuz I need that build space but y'all are making me feel bad for even thinking about getting a 3d printer in the first place
Actually no. I’ll clarify
Tbf those data centers also have 40terrabit connections
It depends on the server usage. If it is a file storage, there are absolutely changing SSD servers
also the thing with 3070 is that id have to buy a new PSU, since my current one is 500W.
But generally data centers don’t do SSD mass long term storage at all
have you seen the space difference?
power saving
yea i run a 750w, the card only rips like 200w in most cases.
I did and it is negligible at the scale
And I’m sorry but space is just not a concern
…huh?
……huh?
did you really just say space isn't a concern for data centers...
Yes
I did
And that space savings are negligible at scale, which, no matter what your talking about, that’s not how that works
space and power are like the two biggest concerns for data centers
its at scale you can really see it
Exactly, that’s the point of scale
the bigger it is the more everything needs to be same with power
they make like 60tb 2.5in ssds, far denser than 22/36tb 3.5in drives
at small scale like us you do not really need to think about cooling or really space
at large scale they want as much computational power per unit of space and unit of power as physically possible
but when you get to using like 30KW and you know MASSIVE spaces you also need cooling for it all and ofc power to everything and so on
Oh, not space savings, power savings are negligible for the mass long term storage. What you save in power you’ll lose in upfront costs that are not guaranteed to be recouped
its why amd is coming out with some MASSIVE cpus
And the upfront cost of the higher density/power efficiency makes no difference, but when your big enough to require a fucking nuclear reactor
Power is one of the main concerns for any large scale tech company. Microsoft is using a fucking nuclear reactor because it’s so hard to find a grid that can and is willing to support them
You as a commercial datacenter invest in higher quality storage based on your company needs. It is not always better to invest in the best option possible
latency
The whole point of a bloody data center is to invest in the best option possible...
how did i forget about latency
I can’t speak about the single company data centers. That is not what I work with
And chances are you’re right
So, what you’re saying is, use the higher quality, but not the better option? What the fuck are you actually talking about
What I’m saying is it’s not always best to provide the best service possible. Because you’re not guaranteed to recover the initial investment in the tech
You can however always upgrade
Except getting the worse option upfront and then upgrading still puts you out the cost of the upgrade, and in fact adds quite a lot to costs in the long run, cause you now have base costs, and upgrade costs, and maintenance/upgrade time, and any downtime the upgrade causes
the thing is, you can just run it until it is, SSDs do not get slower over time and they even at high loads can manage like 5 ish years or something before even failing
i wish bob was still here
But chances are your clients will never need to be upgraded
It is interesting to see that we’re now getting data in on the reliability of modern SSDs and how good they are
Is he gone?
yes
Honestly good, he was just a bit of an ass when it wasn’t needed
the main benefit of SSDs when it comes to use is the latency and speeds
See, the client doesn’t always need the speed
and ofc IOPs
The hammer finally got a hit
the ones that ask for SSDs are the ones that need SSDs
The ones that ask for SSDs also usually pay for the whole server rooms
if you are doing ML with large datasets you are going to want it same with making it local, imagine doing 800Gb to another datacenter
And they’re custom built for those clients
Is what it is. He had a wealth of knowledge but he was excessively rude to anyone ignorant
well yea but that room is only so big
you do not move a server
So, what you’re saying is, the ones who can afford it, go with the best option possible?
Cause that’s the opposite of what you were implying earlier
Oh man I should have gotten the 9070XT rather than the 3D printer
No one would have judged me this hard if I did that instead
Absolutely. The ones who can afford it and need it get it. Other clients don’t. For most the speeds of the best tech possible don’t matter and thus the additional costs are just passed onto the server rent fees
Do I make sense at all?
Maybe to people that are not experiencing an IQ loss rn, I'm so tireddddd
Gotta eep
so in short yes there are many people who can see a real benefit from using SSDs over HDDs
Yep, but see the benefit != benefit
For the most the benefit from them is not economically justified
Now please excuse me I’ve gotta order the new biggest and shiniest controller on the market right now
/j
controller?
PLC
There’s this new Wago thing I want to get my hands on
Wha why
i had to learn electrician stuff for a year due to how norway does stuff
and we did PLC shit old and crappy with no real network automations
one even did a light show
What PLCs you got?
and its not for me
Cos seems like you’re traumatized lol
Ngl PLC class traumatized me too. But it was fun
what monitor arm should i get
idk good ones thoiugh
me too
Are you willing to spend 200 bucks on it?
yeah
Why
also its fine if its not but i prefer stackable
o here is a funny thing that happened
or dual
Past 100 they’re all about the same tbh
after half a year there another person in the other class was setting up something and when testing he was wondering why it did not work, he forgot to fkn plug in anything in the AC end of the DC powersupply
Theres a set of analog sensors in one of the rooms
They’re connected to a weird ADC
I genuinely am scared to unplug them. Nobody touched them in years
But the new sensors are there already so I’ve gotta figure that crap out
this year in school we had to reinstall windows on some computers
wanna know what the people did
Sure
Light shows are fun
they just transferred the windows downloader onto the usb drive, did not flash the usb drive
they were in one of the only classes in Norway that offers what that does
we were also told what to do
and it was not a test so we had access to the internet
and then ofc later on in the year we did have a test about it aaaannnd ofc they did not know what to do
Hey did you know how to do it on the test?
Cos yk that’s the only thing that matters
Others losses don’t concern you if they don’t hurt you
If it sucks you’ve got a chance to make it better for them. Maybe pick up tutoring
its funny, during the exam i was allowed to be a teacher
no joke a part that really makes it count on the final grade i was helping out
Then yh why not consider tutoring? Maybe ask for a small payment or idk a sandwich in return
It will better your class and give you a bump in understanding
It’s a thing as long as you can say « hey, need help ? »
plan has been maybe doing youtube
not a lot of stuff like how to install windows in Norwegian
now that im going even deeper into computer stuff that i have been doing in here for the past like 3 years i might see if i can get some time to maybe just maybe work on tech support videos
What are you studying?
translated its just called computer tech
from what i understand its gonna teach about CVE/malware networking and i dono computer stuff and something about UPS
Is it a trade school or a university ?
Let me rephrase. Did you have to finish high school before enrolling
yes
It might be a general computer science degree
What’s the next step if you were to continue the education?
o yea i forgot, the stuff i hate programming too
Bachelors or masters
not a thing for that line
well kinda, we have the standard stuff like that where we can study even more
Learning about the united postal service is very important
ooooor after this i can go into actually working in data centers or tech support or anything like it
Have you done any internships?
If it is a thing in Russia it is a thing in Norway
Junior or Trainee
Are your keywords. If it’s your year 3 I suggest picking up an internship to gain some experience
we have apprenticeships
Good
i have been building computers for a year, but if possible yes i would very much try to find some work within a datacenter or maybe just maybe basic ticket support
could be hard due to GDPR and such tho
Gdpr has nothing to do with work
wat
If you’re of age, pick up an apprenticeship. You’ll need work experience to get your first job. You can put « I build computers for the last N years » as your prerequisite for the apprenticeship
i still have school
Im not saying full time
the main issue is even tho im in one of the biggest places there is not a lot of places that offer what i wanna learn or do
and if there even is a place they want people who can do full time
There always is that one place
So the research. Look for what is in the same category
i have
Doesn’t need to be exact match
ofc
Come on then. I’m sure you’ll figure it out
But it’s imperative for what you wanna do
main thing im doing while waiting for something good is just working on stuff, im gonna do local voice assistant
20$ and i got myself a little M5 thingy just a esp 32 with a ok mic and speaker that i can use to talk to home assistant
and then the plan is to try my hand at active directory and making a self hosted website
haiii
This sound good
main thing i wish i could get some experience with would be mass management software or automation software like autopilot and the thingy i forgot the name of but that the place i was at for 2 weeks where i had to sign the GDPR thingy was using
anyhow just learning more, gonna also try my hand with PXE boot and that virtualization layout thingy some places do
What do you mean
Gdpr is general data protection regulation
It’s a PID security standard in EU
well that was not the pain point i was making
You can’t sign it physically
well i did not
Im just confused what you meant
it was some kind of thing saying if i used any of the info i gained from being there for bad stuff they could nuke me
Are you gonna do something bad?
well i cant now
Were you planning on doing something bad?
na
Then you’re fine
It’s a data protection clause so you don’t disclose the clients data most likely
This is not legal advice
anyways i wanna try and learn more stuff about whole company management software but its a bit hard alone and at home
yea that ofc but it was also i would imagine stuff too where i cant use what i learned about lets say the networking to try and find zero days for it or something i dono
You can’t use the knowledge about the company against the company
Anything you learned as a skill
You can use
Jellyfin is refusing to deploy on my Truenas install
did you take out the gpu?
did you remove anything
Huh. No I just enabled gpu pass through.
Core or scale?
who is using core
Me
Community (scale)
sad
I know 😦
to eye
It just says deploying for a sec then goes back to stopped
265k. Arc igpu
yes
In the flesh
does it work without pass trough?
The one person who bought an intel processor in 2025
Haven’t tried
It was off. Turned it on and changed nothing
When AMD stops making sorry as hell encoders
What issues do AMD processors have with encoding?
no av1 and h264 sucks
discord now supports av1 videos supposedly
I set the config, cache, and transcode to my ssd with host paths, my bulk storage as additional, and that’s all I changed from default
hm
I didn’t enable ACL on anything
im sad as i forgot to change my jellyfin config when i first started
were the folders made with the apps preset
when i first started i did not do that and it was a hard to figure out what the fix was
No I created them for this.
this?
o create dataset there
do you not have discord on the pc?
I do
dat bugged
why not use snipping tool
anyways i would remake it as apps preset or you could just add apps with read write execute access
ACLs are no fun but needed
wdym
do the folders have read write execute for jellyfin as a app?
f it ama boot up my nas for a few mins
heres all the stuff lol now that im on Discord desktop
but can jellyfin even access the data
How do you do that?
I’m sorry I’m asking so much I’ve just never used Truenas before
Or Jellyfin
anyone got noob friendly modeling system substitutes to blender
give me a few mins while its booting up
why
blender is that
so learn blender
Let's make another donut🍩 Watch Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBpnKTAc5Eo&list=PLjEaoINr3zgEPv5y--4MKpciLaoQYZB1Z&index=2
This is the start of Blender tutorial series for complete beginners. In this series you'll learn Blender's core functionality and features while making your very own donut. To start, this video will teach you th...
Yeah Blender is like the standard
its like opening fl studio for the first time
everyone who has ever modelled at any point at one point had never used blender
i thought maya was standard
Paint 3D lmfao
tinker cad :3
so use a tutorial
i 3D print stuff like adapters or whatever so for me the go to is ofc fusion 360
but modeling anyting else and blender is what one should use
im trying to model like buildings and scenery
then blender is it

in datasets for the files jellyfin needs to access does it look like this
Every business I’ve worked for primarily uses AutoCAD software (Revit, Inventor, etc.
perfection
What's lidarr again
music
Oh fuck that
Don’t see a spot for permissions
yea remake the folder, rule nr.1 for truenas is ANYTHING at ALL that might be used by a app should have the apps preset
even the media folder should have app access
well it only really needs read write but meh
it takes some time to get used to but when you do man do you just know what to do
The UGREEN nas os has some sort of cron job that fixes permissions so they look like what you've set up from the UI
So I set up another cron job that runs every 30 seconds that undoes that
a ugreen nas also costs a arm and a leg for garbage specs
I got the kickstarter one for fun
Wanted to see what the cable company was doing with electronics
ofc those kinda NASes are there for a reason
heres what it looks like rn.
Tbh it's not half bad
Not as polished as synology but better than QNAP if you want to tinker with it
ofc if you really wanna tinker
very cool
Or "I'm installling this for a bunch of people who know nothing about storage and expect it to work like a computer"
How do you delete a dataset?
Everyone working at LTT, the video title is wrong btw for when meantioning the old video
pro tip incus is getting nuked or something since it needs more time in the oven so i dono try not to use it
Should I add more than 2 cores?
i just have it at 2 cores, can be nice having more but like its not cpu intensive
I have 20
it does not really matter, i just have mine at 2
Ok that fixed it thanks
aint ACLs just fun
pro tip on some apps to run, immich and home assistant
grabbing pics from my phone as not been easier then with immich
Yall how do i turn off party mode
hold the power button for 10 sec
Fold it backwards
@viscid elm how do I make my server discoverable on windows file explorer?
samba
enable SMB
Does it have to restart after you enable that?
