My grandma has like a 2 year old HP printer And with that came like a year free of HP instant ink. Basically you pay $8/month and they send you ink when you run out. She never set up a card with that so when the free year was up she stopped receiving ink. Didn't think anything of it.
Until we just went to print something and her printer is literally bricked because they don't have a card on file to charge for that But wait it gets worse
You are FORCED to enroll in HP instant ink when getting a new HP printer.
And if you never add a card, your printer is just bricked until you do, or you go purchase genuine HP ink that isn't Instant Ink and then reset the firmware on the printer
Like that's actually just predatory company behavior. Like how isn't this being talked about in the tech news space
