It's easier to accuse them of having inadequate skills to optimise the game - sometimes there are reasons that customers don't see
- engine research and asset upscaling/redevelopment costs
- developing with the same team with an unfamiliar engine
- developing with a new team who might be familiar with the engine but not the feel of the game
- time and budget costs (yes, the HQ can have a tight noose around the budget / time allocation for this particular project)
- many other nitty gritty details

games made for profit which is pretty much all of them, all AAA titles inevitably cut corners as orders come from the top. use unreal engine 5 cause it looks good, has a lot of assets but then they dont optimize it.

You have vertical movement that appears 3D.
But the entire game and all of it's characters are 2D.

As long as the characters exist in a 2 dimensional perspective and are locked to it, the game is technically 2D.
Even games that fully use 3D models but lock the characters to a 2D plane are not conisdered 3D.
They're 2.5D. (and I hate that naming system)
But even if you believe it is 3D you might need to ask the game devs to change their own description of the game as well.
