Though memes aside
It's $2100 USD
And Micro Center (if applicable) has it for 2 grand USD
Actually drone makes much more sense with that picture lol
hi
I heard Linus' pronouns are tech/tip
Any recommended places to browse for DDR3 RAM?
I found this listing on NewEgg.
Amazon's offering looks attractive
what about ebay? seems a bit much to pay for ddr3
🤔
hmm
be careful, that listing is for ecc memory
Yeah, I don't think my motherboard has ECC support. Let me see other offerings.
I found another listing. These don't appear to be ECC memory.
You have a bookmark folder dedicated entirely to Hispanic men?
Manuels
I'm not trying to kink shame you
Thanks for pointing out the typo LMAO
It's okay to have a folder dedicated to lovely Manuels
lmao
I didn't know "Manuels" was a kink. 💀 What have you guys been reading?
Carbon layed
Bet next you're going to say some perfectly normal sentence is kinky or something.
Like that one guy from another server who thought "no, we do not come in peace 🪿" was some cryptic kinky talk.
Anyways, what you guys think of this listing? #public-chat message

Whelp since the convo has moved on... Guess I'm buying the RAM sticks.
I don't know about buying something from the US, but looks like I don't have a choice.
You have a consumer motherboard? Presumably early generation core i?
It's a motherboard for an Intel i5-2XXX CPU
And I'm playing safe by assuming it's a consumer board.
So DDR3 non ECC RAM
Whack ddr3 is more expensive that I expected
I guess there's sort of a minimum cost to selling on ebay
Well, DDR3 getting harder to come by since many of us are already on DDR4 and moving to DDR5.
Yeah, nobody is upgrading and offloading cheap anymore
A lot of it has died or been ewasted, thrown away, or simply lost
Yeah
Or sold off to other countries for cheap
Considering how many listings I see shipped from china
I wonder why...
Because that's where all the used ddr3 platforms ended up in volume
ddr5 is having the same situation as w11
half a decade old and majority of people dont wanna switch
lmfaoo
Yeah, a lot of decommissioned electronics end up going to China and other SEA countries for "recycling".
To ddr5?
Hmmmm... Not sure if it's people not wanting to switch or it's people can't afford the switch. 🤔
I don't think ddr5 itself is that expensive in other regions
It's the newer platform boards and CPUs that are quite pricey outside of North america/western Europe
Cause ram is a commodity
i will buy cudimm to feel little more rich than majority
Sure regions will have different pricing depending on shipping costs, relative market strength, tariffs, VAT, etc
DDR5 is appealing, but I don't have a reason to switch. Mostly because I'm stuck on AM4.
But overall it's not like GPU pricing in other regions
in some regions ddr4 is a premium
Russia
despite it being a decade old
Okay that doesn't count lmao
Russia and NK are special
All my space is being taken up on my 500gb hard drive, i dont know whats taking up all the space, is there a way for my computer to deep deep clean itself?
Canada is where everything is expensive. Most of the time I have to buy used. 💀
you throw away the “hard drive” and buy an ssd
🤓
ok who the hell still calls drives hard drives
If your HDD is your boot drive, use the disk cleanup utility in Windows.
Use a drill press to clear out the old bits
if you have a hdd as a system drive then what are you doing with your life
They poor
In Canada, yes
Have you seen the house prices? 💀
idk jack shid about pc storage parts, im not sure if its an ssd or hdd issue
helping people with no computer knowledge about computer stuff is tough
Have you watched a single LTT video at all?
i have but i usually dont pay attention to storage specs on parts
Okay, HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive aka hard drive. SSD stands for solid state drive.
drivers drive
“hard drive” is such a outdated term
Hard drives are mechanical since they use a spinning disk. SSD use tech similar to USB drives to store data so no mechanical parts.
whoever refers to drives as that is either a boomer or a 15 year old who just got a new e waste laptop instead of working

15, usually looking for frames but now i need storage
SSD better for speed. HDD better for capacity. (Basically)
throw it out and put something bigger
what does speed have to do with storage?
Grammaly is free. an*
is
Think how long it takes for Windows to load when you boot your PC or how long you have to wait for a game to load.
so it doesnt choke when reading multiple bits lmfao
oh
better speed means it reads and writes things faster
SSD the speed demon of long tern storage.
Just don't get those cache-less SATA SSD.
i picked whatever i felt should be reliable
i could just buy new drives if they fail
not a big deal
I heard some cheap SSD are worse than HDD because of the missing cache.
I think LTT even tested one.
my previous boot drive was a ass 30 euro sata
comparable in speed to a high end hdd
it worked fine
Eh, if it works, it works.
the health degraded
so i got something else
this time i replaced both drives
should be reliable enough
Better than .....nvm
i sure do hope they are reliable
im not a master nerd in storage units
all i know is that they are tlc
As long as you take the time to carefully read and judge the reviews, you'll be just fine.
All 5 star from a few people is sus. Less than 5 star with hundreds or thousands of people probably safe. Of course it'll depend on the marketplace.
peak reliability
SSD referred to hard drive is just incorrect and does usually come from a place where the person grew up with hard drives rather than SSDs. Hard drives itself is still the correct term for spinning drives.
Nothing special. Just a typical SSD.
could tell
Kingston is alright - NV series is pretty meh
but their warranty rocks
generic ssd
from a brand that makings indestructible hdds
i grew up with hdds and now i am a passionate hdd hater
L bozo ig
i tried w10 on a hdd and it was HORRID
find the cheapest sub 200 dollar 8tb ssd ig
I'm the type that heavy utilise the hybrid approach of using a SSD for booting and program loading and HDDs for data storage and backups.
i have no usage scenario for a hdd
It's the most cost effective solution for me.
I no longer have any purpose for HDDs in client systems
Anything that requires HDD storage size, for me, is also gonna be fine with networked latency and will live on my NAS, where it has the benefits of RAID and a backup
I phased out my 2.5" SSDs recently
All m.2 nvme for me now
ya
I understand the appeal of purely SSD. SSDs have gotten cheaper with greater capacity as well as improvements in speed. Unfortunately, my area has catch up to do in bringing the prices down.
I've got an itx build so I just have nvme
Oh yeah... There's also the issue of limited motherboard NVMe slots compare to SATA
Many people would argue modern boards have too many m.2 slots
Lots have 5 m.2 today
ya 3 slots is on budget boards
Hmmmm... How well are those PCI lanes gonna hold up?
Whelp, looks like I'll start saving up
Probably the longevity of the flash chips in a SSD.
are you writing to them 24/7?
Well... It's a server I'm speaking of so yes.
the SSD I've been constantly writing to (screencap) has 23TBW
23 terabytes written to
the drive is rated for... 1500
1500 what? Apples? Oranges?
sigh I see the server intelligence is down today

There you go, I gave you help
Now I got stuck
You didn't
Still don't helping.
have you tried asking chatgpt or google?

Didn't find anything helpful
have you tried turning it off and on again?
What 3rd party keyboard does everyone else use. My old man doesn't like the google keyboard on his new phone.
He wants to type "konichiwa" instead of こにちわ, if I'm making any sense. He liked the samsung keyboard.
I think I didn't completely installed it..
I got upset 😒
I am so hyped rn omg
why?
Romaji input is the proper wording you're after :)
Uhh imma talk w my crush
I use Microsoft SwiftKey
So does linus afaik
Sorry, I think my explanation is just bad. The keyboard needs to stay in English rather than switching to different characters.
And i also use dvorak
Romaji input shows a keyboard with latin characters, when typed, they turn into kanji hiragana and the other one
Or did you just want an english keyboard
Okay, Microsoft Swiftkey was the solution. Looks exactly like Samsung keyboard.
2 and a half hours and i will talk w my crush omg I'm scared
that's the right mindset 💪
where do i go i I need help for my PC problems ?
To the Genius Bar, duh
Whats the best/fastest 1440p ips monitor right now is it Pg27aqn?
Unfortuanately, I have to give up on Oleds, I work too much with static display
24/7 kinda static?
i own an oled and i have a lot of static on my screen lmao
400 hours in and nothing wrong
if you want an oled dont get a unreliable qd oled
pick woled
i dont even hide my taskbar
it has a auto dimming feature that blurs the taskbar and dims static ui elements
screen move is also a thing
Best buy geek squad
It's not 2017, OLEDs are extremely 'safe' to use in that regard now
i can absolutely say that oleds are reliable these days except qd oled
why you dissing on ma boy QD-OLED?
unreliable
no
it uses blue oled which is the least reliable oled color
least reliable in what way
in a made up way, with nothing to back it up
blue oled dies faster than any other color
anything to back that up
you should read about that
just about to say
links?
blue oled has questionable lifespan
you made the claim, thats on you to back it up
search it lmfao
your the one who alreay has done so
so i wanna read the same papers you did
so, its bullshit then
many sources say blue oled
so give me one
blue degrades faster than green or red
cant send pics so just google "which oled color degrades the fastest"
it straight out says blue
no i want to read the same sources you did
send the links you read
why are you not sending the link to your source
ok so send it here
OLEDs are now a staple in TV displays, but is burn-in still a problem? Find out about the science behind burn-in and how to prevent it.
I think this is what they’re referencing
thats a summary from an LLM, not an actual source of information
we all get the same result
That’s why I sent a link too
that is a blog post
no send the link so you can site your source
Idk what to tell you, I’m just sending you what I think he’s referencing
ah. the actual paper is here https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.jpclett.3c03317# and it more or less comes down to a sampling bias
can anyone confirm if I won the Silicon lottery?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED#Degradation unsure about modern oled but blue has least lifespan in here
XD, its possible qd oled is more resistant
bullshit
Compare on hwbot
blue still degrades the fastest
Anyone knew answer
by what amount faster
the actual scientific paper is here https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.jpclett.3c03317# and, as you can see in figure 5, there are FAR more samples in the blue OLEDs, but, if you look and red green and white, there are samples in there too, showing that the spread of their lifespan is roughly the same. and with green and red having a FEW out there with slightly better life span, but on the whole, the average is that they are all about the same, if you compensate for the sampling bias
Did you read what it said
Perhaps the 'in 2012' part
It's 2025
Tech has progressed quite far
my source was published in 2024
you are stating DOES degrade faster, as a fact.. its CAN degrade faster... but not always.. it depends on the quality of the panel and the electronics around it, and, they CAN last just as long as any others
Worrying about OLED degradation in this day and age is funny
same people who are still crying "dont use amd, drivers bad"... its almost like things change over time
I've never used hwbot 😖
while amd drivers are now sitting and being perfect at launch while nvidia can barely even display a image
we are talking about launch drivers
the 50 series had beta vbios that has been updated twice since release via a driver update, and the drivers are just as beta, its in the nvidia release notes
Guys I have populated these slots, from what I've read online, it seems to be the optimal setup with no lane sharing. Am I right?
50 series sucks anyway
Read the manual
it took what 2-3 months to even give out any form for a fix
Don't have it with me now, I'm not at home where it is
Yes but that does not negate that it is still a thing.
we dont know what motherboard that is, or what cpu you have, and, you have the manual, we dont
"i cant see it, so its not a problem" 😄
The InterWebz™️ can help with that
Rog crosshair x870e hero
The internet said it is optimal
then google that, get the manual, and read that, it will tell you
But I have to ask here since I trust you guys
oh cool! I'm 3rd best with the same HW 👌 🇮🇪
Learned helplessness is the behavior exhibited by a subject after enduring repeated aversive stimuli beyond their control. It was initially thought to be caused by the subject's acceptance of their powerlessness, by way of their discontinuing attempts to escape or avoid the aversive stimulus, even when such alternatives are unambiguously present...
vro buys assus
you are asking us, to do for you, what we are telling you to do
There is an onion video on something really similar to this and I find that funny.
I thought it wasn't available online
all manuals are online, on their website
it just requires a few seconds of basic thought to look for and find
it always is
That would definitely be a first.
tell me a manual that is not online
are there not better options than asus?
product not brand
the brand 100
what
try not being a troll for 5 minutes please
you buy a produt not a brand
dude where do i troll
more or less always, you are a massive contrarian, you go out of your way to bitch about others choices, and then spit in the face of evidence that you are wrong, and continue arguing that you are right, with zero ability to give any backup at all.. you are doing nothing other than vommiting up bullshit you thought you heard somewhere
first you did not site your source and when you did it was from a 13 year old source
hey im building a pc nd currently picking a cpu that would work well for a 9070xt. im in poland nd trying to pick a cpu under 1000 pln. i narrowed it down to either a ryzen 7 7700 and a ryzen 5 7500f. the 7500f is 800 pln while the 7700 is almost 1000. is there a big difrence betwen them or are there some other better options?
you havnt told us what you are trying to do with your system, what you plan to do defines what cpu you should get, not what gpu you have
isnt intel cheaper in the low end?
its mainly for gaming, im doing some video editing but not on a profesional level. multitasking at most is playing a game on one monitor and a video or music on the other.
also coding
he is not going low end
personal, or professional?
7500f is quite low end
profesional
7700 then. more cores is more better
then intel
ignore this troll ^
isnt intel literally better in anything other than gaming?
OLEDs still have a tendency to burn in, and I don’t want to deal with that. I spend 80% of my day working and only 20% gaming, so I use Excel and other applications too much to risk burn-in issues. I’d rather get an IPS monitor and have peace of mind. Besides, when I upgrade in the future, this monitor will become my second or third, so I want it to last at least 5-8 years.
<@&750150305383186585> at what point does this guy being a contrarian, rage baiter and general troll, become too much?
chill
let bro pick whats better
just suggesting something that could work out better with multitasking
when developing software, especially professionally, the more cores you have, the quicker you get through builds, the more tools you can run at the same time, the more you can get done in the same space of time, and the less hassle you get from your system. so.. if you can afford the 7700, get that, but realistically. you should buy the most powerful cpu you can justify affording to yourself. personally, i would go for the 7950, because, all the cores... but only because that falls within my budget, its not for everyone
you are suggesting wrong, and being contrarian, again
and youre acting as if amd is the best
i mean im still starting out collage so i dont need best of the best. that will be in a year or so nd by then i could land a solid entrance job. i made sure its also an am5 slot so i can upgrade when i do have the mone
they gave options they have already decided on, i told them what was the best of those from their requirements
question is if bro even checked intel
you dont need the 7950 or the 9950, or whatever x950 is out at that point, until your system is making money for you.. at that point, its worth it, until then, its not worth it
Irrelevant to the question they were asking.
7700 is a nice balance for gaming, and enough cores for dev
yea i think so too, i think by the time i buy its gonna get cheaper too, i was just thinking if paying 26 bucks for 2 more cores is worth
what about 14600
yeah, its worth it
No upgrade at all.
especially when you look at how much you have paid for the other cores, that 26 for an extra couple of cores is a fantastic value
That is just 15th gen.
there is no 15th gen
that is 2nd gen
i see no 15 in the name
yea, also i was worrying abt bottlenecking but after looking into it aparently my pc is 26 percent bottlenecked by those calculator sites when in reality it runs fine
like maybe 2 fps loss
dont trust those calculators
I am calling it that because the current system is dumb as heck
they are always wrong
given how you just described "bottlenecking", you dont understand what a bottleneck is, so its not worth you worrying about
but its a 2nd gen
pretty much
and brom has just said the only sane thing they have said all day... those calculators are fucking terrible, and only exist to serve ads and make money from people who dont understand what a bottleneck is
yes, we all know.. its the 2nd gen of the new naming system... but its also the 15th generation of the architecture.. the name stamped on the box, doesnt mean its not 15th gen of the architecture
then lets count the whole core series including original core and core 2
core2 and the i series, are different architectures
12th gen, 13th gen, 14th gen/1st gen, 2nd gen. Yeah. That makes me hate the naming even more.
so is the new core lmfao
the i and the new name, are the same architecture
there is a difference between arrow lake and raptor lake
Just like with Alder and Raptor lake
noope, between core2 and the i series, intel dramatically changed how the cpus were designed and made, the architecture was fundamentally different. between the i series and the new series, it was just an incremental update, no fundamental change... all they did was change the name to make it seem new. which is why, when the new naming system came out, everybody was mad about it, because it was just the 15th gen with a different name
they are not the same with that
ik the 12700KF is 12 gen but what one is that again (i'm refering to raptor lake names etc)
Please cite a bit more than “nuh uh”
amd shill
btw the performance lift from the i3-13100F to the i7-12700KF are really good
We found the User Benchmark alt account.
i used to use that site, now its either techpowerup, or technical city or whatever the specific name is
“If you can’t cite a counter example, they are a shill.”
it feels closer to "im right, you are wrong... my dad is bigger than your dad" playground shit
I fucked up
musk claims X was taken offline by ukraine... literally everyone else points out that hes talking bollocks, with evidence... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c62x5k44rl0o 😄
I would be surprised, but I have lost count that guy has refused to take accountability for anything
4070ti super goes lound and fan max randomly.. monitor goes black and i hae to restart pc to fix.. Happens randomly even when not gaming.. any Ideas??
XD he got muted
Over heating. But couldn't say why. How old is it?
new.. 5 or 7 months old only
why the overheat when pc not in use?
You buy it new?
did you update drivers?
this started randomly few days ago.. and idk what to do google has no answer
i have updated everything other than bio
is gpu bio update must?
everything is updated
aaaa yeah heard of this, gpu is dead
huh??
tried a DDU?
for real? how can you say that
im a bit of boomer.. whats DDU?
reasons
If you're having trouble uninstalling, removing or deleting your old video card drivers or having trouble installing drivers for a new graphics card? Then DDU may be able to help. This video is a step by step tutorial showing where to download Display Driver Uninstaller, how to install it to your PC and how to use DDU to uninstall your old Dis...
i have seen these issues in tech support and they tend to end in gpu failure
and the person has to send it in for RMA
show i get it exchanged?
replaced
usually they will just send another out in its place, that has already been fixed, and then fix yours, and yours gets sent to the next person with this issue
ok then.. i was hoping for some answers.. so i can either fix or give it back.. Thanks
and do you have another computer
bruhhh..
what if my gpu is better and newer and theirs is older more used wtf
thats not a thing
nah.. build this one with my sweat and tears ... 😭
exact identical same gpu, just a different unit
750w
thats a power rating, not a make and model
i5 14600k
that is fine but psu model
aww shit lemme see
14600k and 4070 ti super i say like max 600w with some extra stuff
nzxt c750 bronze
c+
i am like 70% sure its gpu and like 29 its psu
it is possible the cpu is overheating
sooo.. i should take my rig and get both checked
what cooler are you using and what temps are the gpu and cpu
ok.. I did stress testing on cpu and it goes around 90' when all cores are tested
while gaming im on 60'
if it still does it after a ddu and driver reinstall then RMA it
cooler ant esports 3 fan liquid cooler

ill watch that vid and do the said DDU.. thanks ill come back to you good sir
looks similar to the support team's commit logs at work "fix" "fix" "real fix" "better fix"
"final fix"
actual final fix
Final final final (new).docx
Final final final (new)1.docx
Final final final (new)(1)(Copy).docx
no, it just fully removes the drivers for your gpu, which forces it to fall back to the vesa drivers that ship with windows... so you can then do a real clean install of your drivers
no risk
thanks.. Man pub chat is more helpful then the support
not really, theres just more people here, so you get a quicker answer here, its not always the best answer
in this case.. it is... but... best thing to do is post in support, and wait
people dont know how to wait these days
btw is my cooler good? for 14600k? liquid cooler ant esports 3 fan 120mm
yea just be happy it ain’t a 14900K u need to cool
Hey guys what is the technical name for the 4060 that has 16 GB ? is that considered a TI super
Just "RTX 4060 Ti 16gb"
If it was a super, there wouldn't be a price increase over the 8gb model this time round
Appreciated. Do you happen to know if the 9070 XT smoked the 4060 ti 16gb with Ray tracing on?
I don’t know. It is best though to do your own research here and compare numbers from different results.
OK, I’m just gonna watch Linus video
Yes
Yes the 9070 xt smoked the 4060 ti 16b with ray tracing on?
lol
All I get is a trust me bro everywhere I look about this 4060 TI. Like I generally trust the tech community, but I can’t find any benchmarks for the 4060 TI 16 GB for black Miss Wong like they did on the LTT video for 9070xt
nobody talks about it because it's a really brutal card
don't buy one
Greetings, Guys!
becuase the 16gb version had one use: AI Modeling
Otherwise it was overpriced garbage
NVidia was charging a huge premium for 8GB of VRAM for no good reason
and since the GPU Cores are literally identical? it's not any faster in games, unless you need over 8GB.
and on a 4060, that's... not super likely to be a thing.
hi
I really appreciate the full thought out answer. The link I’m about to send is the Amazon would you care to tell me your thoughts on this computer? This is with the caveat that I don’t really have a choice. I have to buy a computer.
if you want to buy a prebuilt? Buy one. I won't stop people from doing it.
OK, I’ll just give you the specs. It is a Amazon sky tech ryzen 7 7700 , RX 9070 XT , one terabyte NVME, 16 gig of ram, 850 W PSU
The 16 GB of RAM is kind of poopy
I can send you the link to the Amazon if you’re OK with opening the link
yeah? but for most things 16GB is still fine.
I'll click on amazon
So, depending on what you want to count the value of the GPU, that's 1400-1600$ in parts.
So, that's not horribly priced for an OEM, and Sky Tech has typically done fairly well in coverage.
And one more thing on the product description does it say how many NVME slot it have. I need a computer with at least one extra NVME slot besides the one on the board.
I’m sorry not to put all the burden on you, I have to take the kids to school and I know you might be busy later so just asking for your final thoughts on the product. Really appreciate it.
❤️
second slot there
np. it's a solid box with very reasonable parts
you may eventually want to upgrade the RAM, but that's easy to swap
300w augta be enough for anyone
Is there something that exists that can turn 1 PCIE slot into 2? Like a splitter cable or something? Couldn’t find anything on google
There should be
not easily. What are you trying to do
basically you'd need an adapter that would include a hardware bifurcation chip, since the board is unlikely to support splitting it like that.
You'd also need to keep an eye on how much power the two cards would draw, as the larger slot wouldn't have enough power delivery for two slots.
which is something that can exist? But it wouldn't be a cheap product to get.
Its such a girl moment to have ice-cream and then complain your cokd
Damm it, cold*
very cokd indeed
men do that to, its not exclusive to women
Am I the only person who gets genuinely mind boggled that we're at the stage where GTA 5 runs better on a handheld than it did on your old phat PS3?
Like it's a real "what the fuck" moment for me every now and then
eh, given the time between those two, and the volume difference not really
How is it that the main LinusTechTips site doesn't have any links to LTTstore or Labs?
Howdy
hey
What age are you
I'm just talking about it from a "I used to play this on a giant brick and now I play it in my hands" prospective. Not looking at it that objectively.
old enough to have a fat ps3 when it came out
Guess it just depends how you look at it in the moment
Anyone here good with flags?
I still can't believe linus managed to pull off and get away with that breadcoin scam he did on his channel nearly 2 years ago
nom
dear microsoft,
the fuck?
lol the intro to the latest video reminded me of my friends dad, the only game he ever played was black ops on the xbox 360 with bots and whenever he died he would rage and say the government locked up his controller
according to him the other players were secretly actual players not bots and the government was letting them win
he also thought there was no such thing as glitches and they just happen when the government connects to your system
I have my flag signaling merit badge
Ya know which flag these are?
Kazakhstan
Isn't that one blue
yes
Very nice!
That's the one I was thinking
(i googled it)
That's the one I was thinking
this is epic
Cars are always epic
Have you seen S3 E5?
What is the purpose of the CPU bracket having the latch again? Is it to keep the cpu in place using tension?
Does the cpu require to have a downward force applied to it or something?
I installed this on my pc, it fits like a glove, so I guess not
Those on am5 are just dumb in all ways
Guy went am5 after a botched contact frame install
Well for intel it helps because the thing is longer
yea
but I haven't heard anyone say am5 has ever really needed one
I didn't even know am5s had contact frames available lol
for intel it helps because of a badly designed IHS. it makes no difference for AM5, at all.. the ones that ARE useful for AM4/5, are the offset mounts, that replace the entire cooler retention system, and move it down a few mm, placing the hotspot in the centre of the cooler... which the retention plate you have doesnt do, so, is useless
Yws
But it looks good
it looks like a waste of money
It's literally 4 dollars
Not really, the red isn’t a good red, and you’ll never see it anyways
Not for me if i think it looks better than the stock bracket
Also don’t contact frames void warranties?
Alright, but I don't see any stickers on the screws, I could just remove the thing and reattach the old bracket again if things happened
@fossil frost Did you see the Userbenchmark review for the 9070XT? It is funny as heck.
i dont need to do, i can just assume 😄
No need to imagine :D
spoilers for Invincible S3 ||ok, I was gonna talk about how Mr Liu gets revived but|| spoilers for E7 ||Why did they just kill off Rex||
better than i assumed 😄 just a massive "we dont like AMD, or change... nvidia and intel... or fuck off"
Ironically, their reviews for 50 series so far have been on radio silence
“Influenced by wealthy tech tubers” like nvidia cards aren’t 8G$ right now
Same type of person to turn around and buy a 5070 for 1200 dollars ☠️
Oh I didn’t even see the part about “only 3% of gamers on steam use AMD cards so why should you?”
0% of gamers on steam currently use the nvidia 6090, so by the same logic, you should never buy it. same for any 6000 series gpu from nvidia
User benchmark’s bane of existence is the Bandwagon Fallacy
Less than 1% of users use intels GPUs so clearly no one should ever buy one ever
Idk what the updated numbers are but before Battlemage I know it was less than 1%
Why? Because his arc was over
Yeah now they’re on Battlemage
Invincible is about a lot of things but one of the main themes is that life isn't fair.
Ya, Rex got better, got a good relationship, made good with the universe and he deserved a happy ending but invincible is a more honest take on realistic super heroes. The world and the narrative doesn't reward good, bad or meh it just moves forward.
What is this idiocy
Userbenchmark at it again
hii, somehow im only just finding the dicord channel, just wanted to say hi (+following server onboarding) hope your all well :)). sadly i dont have a battle station worthy, imagine a 13" macbook pro surounded by plants and thats what gets me through cityskylines with modded access to unlock all the tiles hehe. yes it runs like a choking potato but i mean... it runs
i should have mentioned its 2015 but i certianly agree with the vibes, my vibe goal is an indoor forest
better get some led strips lol
hello guys anyone car eto help me with a vissual problem..?
ill volunteer
Why is my gpu not loading textures emidellenty then when I change the hdmi port to another one it loads emedently is my gpu broken?
which side are you changing the port?
okay so, i tried to record it but it wont show, ,, so when im in game and moce around, everthing looks lower ress and have red outlines , like 80 vibes you get what i mean? ,, is this a gpu porblem or a monitor porblem?,, or hdmi? (this isnt a porblem with uid and outside the game)
blud got the vhs effect on his monitor
yeah looks like it

I have 2 ports of hdmi and 2 of dpi
what game
if its fine outside of the game then its not the monitor
and when i turned down refresh rate it would be more
maybe test with another cable? gpu drivers? ressolutionn and refresh rates? sorry if none of that is helpful, is it in every game/application?
Most ye even YouTube
Does thermal paste really matter from which brand?
it can yes
Unless it's super shit it's all within 5c of each other
Yes and no, if the paste is really thick like Thermalright TF7 then it'll be a bit more annoying to spread using the cooler, but otherwise most decent pastes nowadays are pretty much the same
I was thinking of going for the Noctua NT-H1.
I knew I should’ve changed my pre-applied thermal paste from Lian Li.
The space shuttle was small af
whats the payload capacity of each?
and no side panel lol
27,500 kilograms to LEO for the space shuttle
You ppl got any recommendations on games I should pick up to play on my steam deck?
I swear I am not seeing something but that gpu looks like it is sagging.
With all the 3d printer filament right there?
my dorm is like 15x15 feet
jolly filament
and I have like 150kilos in this room
10% of the total volume in this room is filament lol

not even half of the filament I have either
why does one need so much
rest is at my house
Are you printing a house
you dont NEED it, you WANT it 😄
I’ll skim a little bit off the top and print you a gpu anti-sag riser.
When I was doing major commission work I was doing like 1000 kilos per year
that was a couple years ago though
youd be surpised how much you can print on 8 printers with one of those being a belt printer
tell someone a rate for something being printed
depends on a lot of factors lol

kinda down to the specific part
if i was requesting for a keyboard stand to be printed for example
do I need to do preprocessing/post processing, material, print time
you can have a 100mm x 100mm x 100mm part that takes up almost no filament at all, but a 40x40x40 that uses up LOADS more... depending on your settings, and the shape of the part
what are we thinking about vertical tabs in firefox?
I'm old and change is bad
tabs are on the left insted of the top
firefox steals, owns, and sells your data... so... wouldnt know, because i wouldnt use it (yes, they changed their T+C to remove the wording that specifically says they are doing that, but they have not replaced it with terms saying that they specifically dont do that)
I use vertical tabs, I like the more vertical real estate
i see the vision
but i feel like i already built muscle memory for horizontal tabs so i couldnt be bothered
no no they don't sell your data by normal definition of sell. they have to remove that because of the adds in new tab and the data they share for that is technically selling data but they are open about that
but because of some state laws they legally cannot say they don't sell your data anymore
so, they are selling the data, and are using it to train AIs, and are claiming full ownership of that data then
they never claimed ownership it says they have the right to use that data which every browser says because they have to say that to legally use your data
I thought they re-instated that?
they are giving data to advertisers, they are getting paid for that data. they are claiming, for legal purposes, that data is theirs to sell, if it wasnt theirs to sell, they would not be allowed to sell it
In some form
its been through several iterations now in the last few weeks
they have been doing that for a while now for the ads on the new tab they have been open about that but the data is anonymized and has no personal identifiers
guess what you can turn it off and no more of your data is shared
i didnt say anything about it being anonymized, but... while we are on about that... that basic transformation, them doing that basic thing, modifying it at all... means they are able to claim ownership over the data... its not because they dont want you personally to be tracked, because thats possible without the PII in the data, its very easy to fingerprint a user... they only do it to tick a legal checkbox.. same as everyone else
so... as i said... they are selling your data, they are claiming ownership over it in order to sell it..
btw, im a software dev, ive written these tracking platforms, ive helped operate them for a former employer, i know EXACTLY how they work, and how they are used 🙂
so what are they supposed to do they need the listens to use your data and they have to do something for money its not like they can shovel money into the furnus to keep it running forever free of use.
I would have thought they would still have to stick by whats written in the privacy policy, and regulations etc ofc
not fudge their T+C to pretend they are not doing that... they tried to lie about it, thats what people are annoyed about
I get its pretty easy to word the privacy policy cleverly to try and excuse a lot of data collection
nicco loves linux has probably the best video on the topic
also, you forget how much money mozilla has
they have always said they share some of the data to the sponsors though since they added that feature.
and then they tried to hide that in their T+C, they tried to lie about it
they didn't try to hide it at all they made multiple public posts about it
mozilla make around $150mil per year from google alone, they are worth more than 1.2bn dollars. of that, around 400 million is held in cash reserves.
they need to squeeze that extra few dollars from selling my data, and pretending they dont
and, my original point, are selling your data, they are claiming ownership over it in order to sell it.. you said that was false.. its not.. its true...
their worth has nothing to do with if they are making profits or not neither does their cash reserves it has to do with their total revenue minux operating costs. they make about half a billion in revenure yes but what is the profits after they spend money on their 2000 employees their world wide server costs and contracter costs
show me where they said they own your data you keep saying that and it doesn't actually say that anywhere
that I have seen
they dont explicitly have to sell it, they have to modify it, to be allowed to sell it, because they can only sell what they own... they cant sell it if they dont own it
its how selling things works, you cant sell something you dont own
i cant sell your car, that you own...
Just break the law
many companies do, its easier and cheaper
sure you can
people do it every day
no every browser has a lisens to use your data for any reason needed "operate" the browser. this legally could include selling copies of that data to advertisers. its up to the privacy policy to say they would sell that data or not always has. their new tos changes litteraly nothing they can do legaly with that daya
The recent policy change is really irrelevant - the bigger issue is them removing the 'we will never sell your data' from their website
and they had to because the data shared with the advertisers for the search bar and start menu adverts
as i said, i have built these sort of tracking and advertising platforms for a former employer. the browser cant send your data as-is, without modification... but.. .adding headers to it, removing something from it, minor changes such as that, constitute a new data, that data can be sold, because they modified that in a way where they are now deemed to be the creator of that (in the uk/eu at least).. any usage data, HOW the app is being used.. is also their data, since its considered to be their debugging data, as long as that doesnt track WHO is using it.
thats why ALL browsers, ALL modify your data in some way, BEFORE sending it on to the browser developer, because that is then technically THEIR data, and they can sell THEIR data... even if it contains some of your data
PII removal is the easiest way to modify the data significantly enough to make it their data, and also comply with other laws. even though PII removal doesnt stop you from being tracked
ok and they could ALWAYS do that. every browser can brave browser chromium waterfox all of them can then. saying you won't use firefox because they can is like saying you won't use a spesific brand of car because it might break down yeah its a car it can and will break down they all do that thats part of owning a car
You know it's actually pretty damn easy to figure out what sort of traffic is going over your network if you actually looked to monitor it. I could take edge for an example. It connects to a bunch of MSN domains used for advertising and synchronization of your data. Meanwhile when it comes to things like debugging or anything like that it's typically a JavaScript worker in the background snatching up logs to send back. And lastly when it comes down to trying to track people individually it's actually a ton of data that you require and it's extremely expensive. If anybody's going to track anything for marketing purposes it's actually done in a general anon'd fashion for liability and cost reasons. The only real form of tracking that ever happens is whenever you're able to tie specifically back to the device that you're using through the use of sessions or whatever
Like how I painted and own this painting?
Now here's the funny part about all of that
firefox said they WONT do that, but were always doing it.. and are now doing even more
under certain laws, you own that version of it if you could argue that the pink moustache is a significant change to the original work
Most people can tell when something is being tracked but the real question becomes what is being tracked and why. There's always a reason and there's always a use to the data otherwise it's a waste.
We suddenly come head to head with a particular problem we find in software engineering. It's really hard to find issues as it stands today due to the complexities of stacks and whatever else may come into the mix. You need to track a lot of shit both client side and server side and on whatever software you actually disseminate and distribute otherwise you're going to fall behind leaving you with vaporware
In a lot of the articles you read today it's all about oh my god you're being tracked but by what and for what reason
It makes assumptions but it never makes assertations
which is part of the reason for SaaS is a big thing now (as well as the many other reasons companies go that way)... the data is always on your servers, its always your data
legally yes they where selling your data, only by strict legal definitions in a few jurisdictions. but in most places no they where not selling your data
they gave data to a 3rd party, that 3rd party gave them money in return... thats selling data by any definition
Once again we're making assumptions about why that data was sold and how it was used. There is something called mutual data contracts in which you hand over data to allow a third party to feed you back information about that data and you get credits for what they learn off of your data so long as they don't directly share the data with anybody else
They have to say that the data was sold yes but was it really sold or was it credited?
We do this all the time
80% of the time your data wasn't sold it was actually used for consultation purposes
the guy initially said i was wrong when i said firefox didnt collect, sell and claim ownership over your data... i told him he was incorrect about saying i was incorrect, and he has moved the goalposts around several times since then
Nobody really collects anybody's specific data that they own. They collect the habits around their data
There's a difference
theres a technical difference, but to the general public, they are the same thing
I didnt' say they didn't collect or (under strict legal definition) sell your data I said they don't own your data
Not really. Do you own the perception of somebody else or does that person own the perception you have of them?
I hate to be the one guy to say this but it's just simply the fact that the public doesn't understand it

Which again, was already proven wrong.
But the assumptions based off of the inconceived perceptions Yes in their mind it is simply just this or that
Business is hard
Especially in the digital world
where is it proven wrong I keep seeing people say that I was proven wrong that they own your data but the tos spesifcally says they don't
this sucks
Which technically, they don’t
by removing the PII, they modify it and have effectively generated their own data, that may or may not contain your data, or data adjacent to your data. they then collect that, and are able to do what they want with it, because thats now their data, that may or may not contain your data.. thats a transfer of ownership of what may or may not be your data
They also remove a bunch of liability lol
This is almost certainly directed at Honey right
Dough sucks? Or proofing sucks?
stops them from getting ploughed by the EU with GDPR, or the UK with what-used-to-be-GDPR-but-is-now-our-own-specific-law-because-fucking-brexit
Dough doesn’t suck. Dough proofs.
What’d the bees do this time?
I have stock in the hive
before I become an assistant manager I have to do this learning shit
I'll be honest, GPDR and friends has become a joke. It's enforcement is lack luster and 80% of claims that are probably legit are unprovable
I just got a low profile 4060 and it's truly puny
And that's kind of sad because it had teeth too
the right to modify data does not change the data's ownership though there are several laws in place for this very reason
This is the card in my ITX case
meanwhile my ITX case having a 3080
A 6950 XT fits in this case that's the card I was running in here before I sold it
oh nice
I was trying to get a 9070 XT but Newegg cancelled the order I got on launch day
yeah, they are, but... they were designed to scare most companies to make most of the effort.. which they did... a LOT of what was going on, was cleaned up.. and the EU/UK dont really go after anyone unless its financially worth it.. its not worth going after the average small/medium business, because the fine would be less than the legal fees. but the likes of google/meta/amazon/microsoft, you can use that threat of a 10% fine of total revenue, as a way to convince them to do other things you want them to do, before dropping the case
I found this 4060 for pretty cheap on marketplace so I grabbed it as a stopgap
if it did then data brokers would never have to remove your information.
I can easily resell it for just as much as I paid once I get the 9070 XT
I got the 4060 LP for $150
I’m grateful I waited on selling my 6700XT because it has been crazy with the 9070XT launch
a significant enough modification is considered to be a new work, the new work is owned by the new creator, even if it contains significant elements of the original work
Was going to talk shit but $150 is a good value
There's also a problem with post analytics data and pre analytics data. Some data brokers just live ingest data and they don't actually store any of the specific data that can be pointed to you before it gets put through the system that will ingest the data and actually analyze it. These are good guys. So what they have to do is provide an opt-out system that tells their system that the data being sent to them is to not be analyzed and ingested into their data set. Usually the data they are working on is completely anonymous and simply just stats related to various metadata points or demographics.
Then you have the guys that actually store the data raw.
you still have rights over that new work, but its largely just "stop doing that" at best.. and thats what happens when you ask a data broker to take down your data... they do, but they can immediately get it back again from the same place
I'm sure you have seen those advertising opt out pages before
data collected isn't protected like artwork legally. it has separate protections in place in several jurisdictions mainly Europe that make explicit legal diferences
It being so cheap is the reason I picked it up lol
The guys who work with those advertising opt-out pages will ingest your data live and then tie it into their analytics
whatever im getting a migrain overthis so imma go take some aprin and take a nap
Those with individual pages are live storing your data raw with specifics most likely and those are the ones you have to specifically request removal of your data from
I sold a friend the 6950 XT for pretty cheap and because Newegg cancelled my order I just needed something to put into it
The ones that require you to specifically request your data to be removed from are generally the more shady characters of the advertising and consumer analytics markets
The 4060 is still decent enough that it should be fine until I get the 9070 XT
Microsoft Google and Apple are in their own leagues here and all have various means across all types of analytics systems so they are excluded from the above statements
Crew 10 launching in 24 hours
The 2 astronauts that came up on starliner will come home in a few days
They could have come home any time for months now
They’re going down on crew 9’s capsule
Found this gem on Best Buy. How are they still available?
Once crew 9 hands the station off to crew 10 (takes a few days) the 2 crew 9 astronauts and the 2 other “stuck” ones will come down
Average SpaceX rescue
Average Boeing fuck up
I wonder how many people actually remember that it was Boeing that stuck them up there
They certainly could have but there's no room for error on space travel
So anything that may show potential for problems is considered a failure no matter what the end result is
We have 56 years of experience. Space is hard but so are computers. I get where you're coming from but I'm having a really hard time giving the curb to the credit here
lol
You think space travel is as hard as computers?
Computers fuck up literally all the time
Depends what you mean by hard. When it comes to the science behind it and the mathematics yes. The physical work behind it and along with all of the other crap like testing.. no. Unless it's labeled as intrinsically safe component which does go through damn near the same amount of testing in its own way
The space shuttle had a like a 6-8% failure rate
Such as computer components that are designed around life-saving stuff
Like most computer systems on spacecraft
Exactly
Space is just about the worst place for computers
Hard to get rid of heat, need lots of shielding/error correction for cosmic radiation
The starliner didn't even have electronic issues did it?
It's been too long for my grasshopper mind
Guess it's time to go reading again. Thanks for the renewed interest
Yeah I remember this
But like … that’s kind of whatever
It’s 8th helium leak or whatever lol
If it was JUST the helium leak they wouldn’t have had an issue
Anyone here know if blower cards are still necessary for rackmount gaming?
For rack mount equipment in general I actually would recommend this
I had a recent run in with some problems caused by non-static airflow sinks on some of our servers
Just buy a 4090
trying to switch to AMD funnily enough
I would like to acquire a 9070xt and an aftermarket blower cooler but I can't seem to find any
My coworker just turned on the heater and it's only 62f outside
Aio card ?
are there any that exist currently?
16c thats warm ish
the last place I remembered you working old people would kinda need that
it happens to a lot of people!
I mean, not at all "necessary", but it's more about the specific chassis, use case, blah blah blah, but rackmount airflow is front to back, and is very different to a desktop.
9070xt with waterblock or 7900xtx with a blower?
yes
I am explicitly gaming with this machine but it is basically remote access only
115" TVs are so fancy the packaging comes with latches
Any Mac fans here?
Hell no
Pcparpicker has no aio 70xt listed
Waterblock
I don't see one on videocardz either
@unkempt nest is a decent guy
But I'm not sure I would call myself a fan
guys, i gotta a dumb question that i may already know the answer to. I have a beelink ser6 max and got a new mini fridge. Can i run this pc on a surge protector and my mini fridge on the same outlet? I personally don't think it would work, but the guys here say otherwise. any thoughts?
surge protector or UPS?
regular surge protector, i dont have a ups at the moment
You should be fine
Neither device is high power draw
Air conditioners and space heaters are the real danger for surge protectors
that i do know
Just make sure if your house is 90+y/o that it at least actually has grounding though
yh
Glad you are fine but how did superglue come that close?
I use super thin CA glue
thinner than water
a part I was gluing sprug into place shooting a few droplets lol
some got dead center on my eye but I was waering contacts
Dang.
no but i use ios 💔
Hard to find them on their own, usually they're inside preassembled macs
Same here
Well could anyone tell me the colour accuracy of the newest m4 macbooks? I can't find anything online
