Iām gonna make it in time for rollout maybe
It's a very interesting piece of Hardware, but I wouldn't call it practical
Mostly for more technical reasons
Itās crazy that the switch is way less powerful than the steam deck
true
How is that crazy
Itās sad
The switch is using mobile hardware from 2015
Even when the switch was new, the chip was already 2 years old and they underclocked it
It's 8 years old
cough cough 4K gaming on a laptop igpu cough cough
Watch the switch 2 be just as bad
What?
The pimax portal runs a mobile snapdragon chip
It's an Android device
ah lmao
You don't even know what you're talking about
whops, my bad š
It's impractical because they designed this thing to be a VR hybrid console and then never released the VR portion
For the switch, it's the software that drives sale
Not the hardware
So it has five cameras on the back and these magnetically detaching controllers that were supposed to go in a VR add-on
And because it was designed for VR, they had a high resolution high refresh rate screen because you were supposed to be able to pair it with a PC
The choices they made did make sense in the context they made them in but then they never finished the VR half of the device
Specifically the software
All of the hardware did come out and you could buy this thing with a VR headset addon and it is real 6dof VR
But almost no software ever released on it and I don't think you could ever pair it to a PC for VR properly
Was there meant to be a headset mould to go with it Google cardboard style?
Sorta yeah
Or Samsung Gear
And there were controller attachments to make proper six Dof controllers that you just put the magnetic ones in and they pair with the shell
It was a real VR headset, the tablet used the same chip as the quest 2 and everything
And it had all of the hardware to do real VR
They just never finished the software
Wild
Because nobody bought it, because they never finished the software
It should have launched with the ability to use virtual desktop or their proprietary software to play Steam VR games
If it could do that, I think it would have sold way better
As it stands, it's just an Android emulation handheld with a really nice screen
Support has been dead for a while officially and they are never coming back to it
rate the workstation i just sold
damn wtf i started playing god of war and my gpu temp went from a normal 62 in cs gta 5 and so on to 68 70 damn
just make sure to give him the warranty thingy for the nvme
its QLC aka very well known to die quick
also the performance is not great
hmmmmm trying to decide which ap im gonna upgrade to
either the ubiquiti u6 enterprise or the u7 pro max
im currently on a u6+ and i dont get very good signal at the end of my house
SOTN FTW
any1 know if a r7 7800x3d is compatible with a b550
will do, i do door to door for more expensive builds and tend to leave the packaging and warranty with the client
im used one of my leftover ones on my aio homeserverš im praying everyday it doesnt die
ROLLOUT
are you a summer intern?
seeing that much flat land amazes me
Allow me to introduce you to: beach lol
everything here is hilly / mountainous
why are the screwdrivers so pricy š
its not
oh hmmm
Itās so stupid how expensive mattresses are, like great I spent $800 and now I still need to buy a TV and a TV stand for my bedroom so I can actually sleep in there, let alone a bed frame because yk Iām rocking mattress on the floor right now
And sheās gone
buy a set
Iād love a spent heat tile off one of those things, would be such a cool souvenir
Add it to my collection of oddities
They should absolutely sell the scrapped ones
100$ a pop for a full tile times like 40,000 tiles
Iād buy one in a heartbeat, I assume you canāt really refurbish them. Probably would cost as much if not more than just making a brand new one
Theyāre reusable
But only to a point I assume
Thatās the whole point of starship lol
Like after a few uses Iād assume they arenāt in tolerance anymore
Launch land stack refuel launch
Thatās the entire point of starship, to be completely rapidly reusable
Same day launches back to back
Given Iām talking out of my ass but common knowledge is that heating things up thousands of degrees and cooling them over and over and over again means they canāt last FOREVER
SpaceX trebuchet
Me too spacex
A tv does not feel necessary for sleeping
I guess people just find them when they fall off, but fuck paying $1000 for a tile, if it were like $100 and that big
I like the noise, Iāll probably just buy some Walmart ONN brand Roku tv, I saw a 65 inch for $300 so Iāll probably just do that
Imagine they just gather scraps and put them in mason jars to sell
I would be willing to bet it had a noticeable impact in the Turks and Caicos economies
Good news for once, im at microcenter and i overheard them talking about 9070 and 9070xt stock. Sounds like they have a crazy stockpile of the cards

More than they have ever had before
No word about price in the US but stock will definitely not be an problem
Also interesting, they said the spreadsheet about 5090 stock was not accurate, the sheet said they had 10 but they only had 5 5090s.
Crazy stockpile of demand tho
Well they should be able to deliver
Stack that boy š„š„š„
damn
thats smaller than an avg pp
buying a 2023 ASUS Zephyrus G16 right now that comes with 16 GB of DDR4 3200 soldered to the MB. It has a SODIMM slot open to expand memory so I was looking at adding a 32GB Corsair Vengence DDR4 stick @ 3200. I assume dual channel is out of the question with the soldered memory, but anyone know of pros and cons to expanding with a mismatched stick of RAM, and if there is anything besides DDR4 and 3200 that I need to look for when seleting RAM?
not fun
Hi everyone!
SpaceX just committed another crime
They started booster rollout at 9:59:30, the time they were allowed starts at 10
They gonna get a fine fr
dude whats elijah talking bout rn
Bro i misread that as 5090xt somehow. Was gonna trip if amd had shortage
Why does amd not have shortage tbh
I mean anyone considered maybe insider trading? If you cant buy nvidia, you buy amd. If you buy neither, like ms word wont run n sht
Tbh os maybe.
No intel integrated graphics to the rescue. It doesnt bsod usually when i run non-3d sht
hi
hello again
haha
Anybody have ideas for best bang for your buck pc around $1000? Kiddo just spilled tea on mine š so Iāll be spending the next few months trying to get a reasonable build together
Some parts may be salvageable
But you could easily get more than a grand for the kid
are u ugys buying the 9070?
I need help with remote desktop. I have a server PC that I'd like to remote into instead of using another monitor. Problem is, I can't remote into it, as it keeps giving me "this logon attempt failed" even though I know for a fact I have the correct login. And trying to remote into my main from the server doesn't work either, same deal. My main uses my MS account, while the server uses a local account.
9070xt is much more enticing at a theoretical only $50 more
Turned off my PC to install an SSD. Turns out, the system started updating before it turned off. I unplugged it, put in the SSD and tried to turn it back on.
Essentially, I botched the update, which then went on to fry the drive
Fry the drive, did I hear correctly?
Yes
I re-installed Windows on a different drive (with every other drive unplugged, to ensure nothing would be formatted) and plugged in the remaining drives
Plug in every other drive? Thing works great
Plug in the old C: drive, and the system doesn't even notice it's presence
Tried data recovery software to recognize the drive; it saw the raw drive, but could find no data
Format it
Well your data is probably irrecoverable
Yeah
The drive works right
Maybe?
I know each time I've tried to plug the thing in it's crashed my computer XD
But I can try to format it XD
Welp, I can't format it
Since I can't initalize it
you can try and put gparted iso on a usb stick with ventoy and try formatting it that way
Wilco
You might need to allow specific accounts remote accessible
See step 5
Anyone know how to take the motherboard of a dell 8200
dell 8200 is about as specific as "honda car"
i would still probably answer it with "some custom propitiatory crap from dell"
no this would've been like 2004
should be fairly standard for its time
assuming desktop
ok... "some OLD custom propitiatory crap from dell"
I have been wrestling with it for an hour now
by the looks of it just pull up
for their slim desktops, that sit flat, they have a sort of clamshell design on the case... i used to hate having to do anything with them, because they snap shut like a fucking crocodile
I dont wanna break any of these plastics
that thing is equivalent to an 86 year old person
you're gonna break something even if you're careful
Its from 2002
Its older than me lmao
there is newer stuff in computer museums
I wanna reuse the case
bruh
cant, custom to this board/system
And display the motherboard on my shelves like the other motherboards i have
this says no
And i have a dremel
I will make stuff fit
Also the motherboard i have is a mini itx
Cost me 25 buks
wait... does the entire motherboard tray come out with the tab?
feel free to ruin the case, old motherboard, and new motherboard
push this and slide the entire thing out
Missing the psu so gonna atx mod
Tried that
yes, and you can rip a load of connectors off if you are not careful
there are more than 1
eh it's from 2002 who cares
Everything is disconnected
I care, i plan to use it to conserve my dvds and floppy disks
push these down and slide it down?
these old cases are always like this some way or another
They are flat against the back
I was thinking maybe if i remove the dell logo on the back, but it aint giving in
twist it
It dont twist
pull it
bop it
I love this place
have you RTFM?
What?
bruh
RTFM = Read the Fckin Manual
I have been looking for a manual, i couldnt find one lmao
And i just found my missing screw under a ide cable
buddy.
it was literally the first result
Can't even blame Google for this one lmao
Have you thought about, different countries yield different search results lmao
Either way thank you for the help
Got StartAllBack
nah I gotta see what you get
ain't no way censorship is this bad
anyway have fun modding!!
Thank youu
I get like 3 pages of ads before i get anything useful
And when i did find a page with the manual, it was behind a paywall
oh unlucky
try this
yeh GL
I forgor I had an rgb light bulb
i have two pcs a 2080 with i7-8700 and a 1660 super with an ryzen 5 3600 which should i use to play fortnite
Neither delete fortnite and do something productive with your life
Instead a nice life skill like stealing a Kia with a USB stick could be fun
Who did that
Go steal ducks from the local pond
You mean the free ducks
Fish and wildlife does not agree though
I mean I sell them to the Chinese place and get discounted peaking duck
Yall think this will work?
It's untested
Impossible for us to say based on a screenshot alone. If you link to the eBay listing, we'd have a better chance of answering. (If / when you link, you only need to include the ebay.com/itm/123456789 portion of the URL - please delete anything after the ? to shorten the link and avoid potentially exposing tracking information related to your eBay account.)
I'll do it but I hope Noone buys the monitor from the link just to spite me
:3 I will
Oof. That monitor is over 10 years old, does not support VESA mounting, lacks DisplayPort input, and has a glossy screen. It's only redeeming qualities are being 1080p resolution and an IPS panel. Assuming it even works, I'd only want to use it as a monitor for a computer in my workshop or garage.
https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/product-specs/hp-pavilion-25-inch-displays/model/5304248
I'm ok with that actually
I'd at least shop around. You might find better monitors on your local Craigslist for a similar ~$50 - $75 price.
That's why I suggested Craiglist. Or whatever your local buy & sell site / services are. Most know about FB Marketplace, but it's extremely hit / miss depending on a variety of factors.
I don't even care if it works at this point
Is that local only or is it shipping too
You can often find free ones on Facebook
Banned by Facebooks verification system tho my ID literally proves my age
craigslist provides local classifieds and forums for jobs, housing, for sale, services, local community, and events
I'm not even in the US
Nothing in My area
Stop doing criminal things
Didn't do any criminal thin
So uh... yeah... Facebook's "verification" and "anti-bot" systems aren't great. They fail to catch obvious scam posts, and cause legit accounts to be locked out for performing "bot-like" activity... ahem like my own account regularly receives the "hey, you're acting like a bot, please stop or we'll have to ban you" popups simply because I report 50+ scam posts / comments per week. Gee, thanks META - guess I won't help keep my local buy / sell marketplace community safe?
I suppose
Huh
funny story just posted a string instrument to facebook marketplace and the bow for it. It was flagged as a "weapon" and taken down. Been banned from posting to Marketplace for 3 days now.
yet the pirate firesticks that the UK police are actively targeting sellers and users of right now... are absolutely fine to be on marketplace
Xd
414
Don't worry, Meta will ignore all your reports anyway
Theres no channel to show peoples setups?
Yea js saw it came here to say nvm lol
Hey yall, Friend is making a business based on baked goods and fruits. She currently called it āSweet Needsā curious to hear everyone elses ideas on what she can call it. She is currently making a Domain Name/website
Stop trying to kill people with stringed instruments
Soooo should the arsenal be switched to brass and wind then? Lmao.
Bev's Buns
but they are the best type of instrument to do it with
Use wired instruments instead
I prefer the 240VAC 30A mains as my weapon of choice
You know how hard it is to murder someone with a flute
not hard at all
I prefer comedically convenient grand pianos
That actually seems pretty easy
would make for a good stabbing
They are not that strong
Doesn't need to be
or you could make them learn how to play it, and force them to perform to a crowd of people, so that they die of embarrassment
You didn't have a trombone or tuba to use instead?
Now I need to get on a list to see how many murders have been committed using a flute
both of those would be harder
They call him the floutest
I've seen the text of a case where a credit card was the murder weapon
Shoved it as hard as she could into his throat at the corner.
John Wick killed a guy with a pencil.
If there's a will there's a way
as did the joker
the good joker that is... not one of the shit ones
he made it disappear!
I could probably kill somebody with a key if I was really really angry and at wits end
So really anything can be a murder weapon with enough adrenaline
It's easy to kill someone with a key if you have to.
Put it between your knuckles, squeeze and aim for the soft parts
my old karate teacher said "when it comes down you 'its me or them'... even your keys can inflict enough damage to stop it from being you..."
I think my preferred murder weapon would be marshmallows
any foreign object rammed down the throat will get the job done tbh
There's your answer to the marshmallows
I mean it depends on method and dexterity.
Technically, you can kill someone even with a book, a towel, even a coffee mug if you're capable enough.
Absolute perfect timing
Can you kill with cringe
book and towel is ezpz, coffee mug is harder, but it would break and possibly have a very sharp edge
i would imagine that inserting either of those into the butthole, would cause enough damage to bring on death
Probably to be honest. But that seems self-inflicted
Takes too much setup, but it's possible I bet.
Coffee mugs are blunt, breakable objects, they're great weapons.
A towel can be used to choke people, a book? I mean, ya.
These are all great weapons, what about a piece of cardboard? Lmao
I'm pretty sure there's quite a few office murders with ceramic mugs being used
Only if you force them to be in the hit sequel Cats 2
Man public chat is just fantastic sometimes
Yap, they're huge in accidentally murders in domestic cases too
and nobody will ever know my the true number
I love wittle earth quakes
I hear they are making a new final destination
tbh, a lot of whistle blowers can somehow shoot themselves in the back of the head... apparently.... without getting their own fingerprints on the gun
My first earthquake ever was in Oklahoma and it came out of nowhere while I was on the laptop in bed
Suddenly there were shaking and then my pictures were all misaligned
I was like "what the fuck"
This is my first one ever too, I'm on Jeju island in Korea rn
With high dexterity and creativity, you can use a mug in defensive manner without breaking it right away.
A towel can act as a whip, so more than just choking can be accomplished.
A book actually is not just good for a projectile, but also a small melee shield and unconventional clamp to grab an opponent or their weapon if they have one with the right timing.
I really didn't know what to expect so I got prepared for a larger one to come right after
I was young so all I remembered was what they taught me in school during emergency situations
again, john wick kills a dude with a book
I mean tbh, I'm a pretty fit guy now and I live in a country and region where people are generally naturally smaller than me
"words don't hu-"
John Wick:
I'd just kill them with my bare hands I guess? Kinda cringe to say that tho lol
tbh, dont have your bosses son murder a guys dog and steal his car
My dad walked in on me hiding under my bed. He told me there was a minor fault shift and we could expect nothing else
Like the majority of guys who've started problems with me, generally for being white, were very malnourished and from poorer parts of the country.
They pose no real threat to the average person.
I was full on expecting the house to come down
What can I say I was ready
I had everything important with me too. My laptop and my phone
There was also a fire extinguisher zip tied to the underside of my bed so I had that
It's crazy seeing the people in China who got bone lengthening surgery rho
what is this
I should do that again honestly
It's actually kind of hilarious
And then dont try to rope him back in on a blood contract just for extra power only to put a bounty on his head
Put another fire extinguisher under my bed
(ā +ā _ā +ā )
forced self unaliving rig from the movie Shooter
I think what I'd attempt to do would either be a gamble on my life in most cases or would leave any assailants scared out of there minds by what I'd probably attempt to do.
Of all the natural disasters though that really had me going was the one time that I had to pull over into a ditch and a tornado came across the highway I was up against
Ok, um slow the roll captain cringe.
The ditches in Oklahoma were deep enough that it didn't pick up my car
But I very distinctly remember standing on the highway and just watching this big ass air funnel go straight down it
It was some of the most surreal shit ever
Now why did you let your mind go there, dude?
I dunno, I'm really tired and I have to pee
We were very lucky though and only the abandoned fire station got picked up and destroyed during that
It was elevated which was stupid for something you put in tornado alley
There is also a bunch of shit from the junkyard thrown around
I just laid down in bed. Generally when any natural disaster esque thing happens I just accept that I could die
No point being afraid
If I'm gonna die, then that's that I guess.
When it came to tornadoes we would just stand outside
But anything else we would at least take shelter
being prepared isnt the same as being afraid
Uh uh more of em
Tsunami when
I mean, obviously don't do anything stupid but if you've done all you can what's the point
It was actually really funny being where we were because we were smack in the middle of tornado alley
But every single time a tornado would come through it would avoid everything of significance
Of all the time I was right in the center of it there was no injuries
The only injuries or deaths came from everywhere right outside of it
Wildfires from the hills though
When they told you to evacuate you evacuated
They never actually reached into town but everybody who is hiking around and didn't listen would get fucked
Charge your phone
Ah shit my hotel window broke
Ok we might actually be in trouble
Imma go sit in the lobby
Tornadoes were actually kind of interesting because you could walk up against him as long as you were along the back of them
super big gulp
So you could watch everything they were doing
Crazy high winds right now
They also ran at running speed so you could personally just run up against them
I haven't slept all night, considering just staying awake at this point
The second they picked up anything though you better hope that you were on the ground
That crap is coming at you at 100 mph or more
On second thought, you probably shouldn't prioritize charging your phone if the weather is that bad
This is actually a situation where you would prioritize this
Communication is key
Meh, I decided I'm too tired, I put up the divider, it's just the main window that cracked
Imma go to sleep
Lol
People are all running down to the lobby

I'd rather die in my sleep if I have to
As my mom said once: if I wake up dead that's a good death.
Lmao real
I'm not impartial to a roller coaster ride before I die
I would be okay with that
I just heard something new come over at the fire dispatch radio. Emergency childbirth
"oh no I'm giving birth to a child"
What a situation to be in
I'd rather just...die. I don't want to know it's happening
Oh cool if they call it in they tell you the gender over the radio if it happens on site
"It was a boy!!" - in a computer voice
How cute
"wait wait, we don't want to know what gender the baby is"
"Aw that's so cute. Anyways, "it's" not breathing"
Oh no

208V 30A now thats delicious 3 phase to the dome
Apparently we're getting an upgrade this month to proper 240 and I'm looking forward to it
They have to come in and rewire some things but it'll be worth it. I'm going to do all those myself in my unit
208 has been pissing me off because the dryer doesn't get hot enough
And we have dual stage water heaters so when we get 240 is gonna be awesome
HVAC has to change windings on the 24VAC transformer
I already have it at the 240VAC windings because I wanted the sequencer to go slower and it still puts out 22VAC. The 24VAC transformer has been pushing 28vac so whatever on proper windings
That thing to the bottom right
Delays on time and off time for the heater
It's been going quite a bit faster than rated
But the transformer is putting out more voltage
Inside of the sequencer there is two pieces of metal that sort of bend whenever they reach a certain temperature after a certain time
That's what gives the timer
More voltage = faster
It should be 0-30 on, 45-80 off or something like that
600VAC 200A is more fun
those transformers smell warm
If I wanted to hook up a VFD to something like this HVAC, definitely
hii
I do have a chunky step up TF in my storage unit that could do this
hmm
Some of the low voltage networks i work on sit right next to this big ole cube labeled 600VAC 200A
As long as they are isolated and they have insulation between them
this is the first time im seeing people talking about transformers other than in my textbooks
They're wholly unrelated systems, just happen to sit near one another
it's just cool to see
That's to be someone expected but do they have insulation
It sits on it's own concrete pad
Such as at least drywall or enclosures
and has a metal cage around it
Okay those are distance rated
Okay well you got a Faraday cage That's actually really awesome
It feels weird to even be near it
They must be EMI sensitive systems
If you go so far as to put a Faraday cage that means their EMI sensitive
There's low voltage systems are probably sensitive communications for sensors or RF
ethernet and DMX over category cable
It's a mixed use maintenance room where the control rack for my stuff sits
Is it like chunks and chunks of cable
š³
If it's a very long runs or you just have a ton of cabling for low voltage over any category rated capable you would typically want to surround it in some sort of Faraday cage or raceway
Hello, peoples, let me ask you something, what if some dude crated a system capable of turning a pair of 1TB drives into up to 320 TB (20 or 40 would be more realistic for a normal system) usable real space AND give them file recovery and failure resistance capacities?
DMX lighting comes off as interesting because over super long runs you can have issues
Simply because of impedance so you can use a shielding to reduce that
Mhm
Most DMX cables you see are thick as hell from the shielding
Unless it's just short runs
The sound of the launch towerās chain smacking stuff in the wind is weird
Just sounds like a whip noise everywhere at once
There certainly are ways to cheap out on this
What's visible before they go into the walls looks like just category cable
I'm sorry if i'm interrupting but this is not crazy talk, please reply.
though i wasn't there for install, so i'm not entirely sure
Then more than likely it's category cable all the way up
sounds like a pipe dream
That shielding is probably helping with that
If you look around the shielding you will probably find a chunky ground
Unless it's in the roof
I know, it sounds insane but i'm dead serious
Or underground
To be honest I do the DMX the same way
I just rather provide the shielding for all of the low voltage
It's really about impedance caused by interference
A well-grounded raceway will do well
Proper rated DMX cable is expensive as hell
I would just rather derate the entire enclosure
You can save thousands of dollars especially if this is some DMX lighting intended for the entire building. More so if it's a very large one
Exterior lighting even more so
That sort of makes sense because there's lots of noise and interference caused by other things in theaters
Although I would think they would prefer to use isolated cable
They could also be doing something to make sure they have short ground runs
It's whatever the folks who did the install decided to do
Then this would mean they would terminate the cable at a junction box with a ground cable closer to the actual ground
Though they were almost certainly just the lowest bidder
Was this for a school
mhm
If anyone wants to know more about that "pipe dream" please contact me on a calmer channel or privately.
<@&750150305383186585>
Have you ever dreamed of bludgeoning someone with a pipe?
A couple times
well, it's that, except instead of that, you lose all your money.
Ah man :(
It's called... lossy compression!
You just ... throw away your data
What is this? Dude, i don't anything, i just want to share this development, as i said i'm willing to describe publically i just feel it sounds too good
I donāt want anything*
dude, you are not the first person to discover filesystem compression.
and/or de-duplication
No, it's not that simple, and it's not compression in the way you know it
Stop thinking you're a genius
I mean, I literally work in storage.
Cool. Package it and sell it and become a gazillionaire.
Idc, buddy
the way you turn 1tb into 320 is go on ebay and start buying refurb drives
See the problem here is that I am literally an expert.
So be it, you haven't heard how it works
so you gonna explain or what
You're just prejudiced
yes, but thermodynamics > yuo
Prejudiced against what? Idiots?
So the literal decades of work on storage technologies is all trumped by some dude on LTT discord
it doesn't matter how it works, because it can't work.
because if it does, your discovery fundamentally changes things we know about data and maths.
When are they gonna stack the rocket šš
It's basically the ultimate RAID, a system shrinks the files by x times, keeps a recovery file and runs the decompressor from RAM, compression system this WHICH DOESN'T WORK HOW YOU'RE THINKING (for an instance it can compress any data without loss) meaning it has almost no performance drawback because the disks are set to a raid 0 configuration
Understand it, don't, believe it, don't, idc, it's coming and it will eventually be in your PC.
"shrinks files by x times" - how does that work, exactly
And then one disk dies and everything is gone
Not explaining, i plan on making money, not just impressing other nerds, thank you.
I folded my back seats down and Iām just lying down in the back of my car
lol
Then why come in here in the first place?
This system is protected against disk failures, i'm not explaining how
Except that NVME drives don't need raid 0 to be faster, you simply put more storage on it, they are already fast enough. That you say "raid 0" in this means you don't understand shit about fuck
You will make a grand total of $0
Even NVME drives can be configured in a RAID 0 data distribution structure
also where is this decompressor? what bus are you using? how does the data go in and out
In ram, not your problem, like all data
using more words to talk about raid 0 doesn't make it more complicated
āYouāre just not undemanding because you havenāt heard how it works, also Iām not going to explain to you how it works because⦠fuck you?ā
... data doesn't magically get to ram via osmosis, it has to be put there.
I'm explaining, just not all of it, some is what makes it it and you're not getting it
oh no, I get it
Loaded at startup, you ok, dude?
startup of what?
COMPUTER
you loading 320tb of stuff into ram?
oh, good thing a computer has one startup process.
there certainly isn't layers of access.
i need whatever dimms you have
Sorry to forget, there's a third drive /raid 0 array which stores the decompressor/decrypter, OS, recovery files and necessary data.
Ready to load whatever has to be loaded at startup.
tank 592T 518T 104K /tank
using some magic lossless compression method that no one has ever come up with before, yet somehow you did?
Alright buddy, back to the psych ward you go

Again, you've cracked a compression algorithm that fundamentally changes the rules of what we know about data and thermodynamics
4060 just beat 3060 by a bit
that is worth literally billions
NO!
and you're out here on discord trying to explain it badly
No violation of thermodynamics (is understandable with full details) but indeed changes the rules of data
Completely
I just want to share without losing the invention, is that too much to ask?
Is this because you tried to sell it to google and they dismissed you because it's absolutely insane?
I invented it TODAY
I am out of words for this vendor..
.... you invented a compression algorithm today
Yeah...
No, I'm just really, really smart
you shouldn't waste your time on a Green Leaf icon troll bob
Dude thinks He's Andrew Tridgell
And i see things other people don't, i have insights other people don't, don't condemn me to being at the same intellectual level of everyone else because you can't believe me
oh honey, I wish you well, and I hope you get the therapy you need
You're gonna swallow those words, mark this mentally.
Just read the above idea and like... I have no idea where he's going with that compression method.
main character syndrome
You don't even understand the core concepts behind what you're talking about.
Which... Personally, I don't think we need another one to exist, especially with multiple that already do.
patent it and become a billionaire. why are you here? Get to work
Publish a paper then
Have you met my friends? Dunning and Kruger?
They're not your friends, buddy.
he's not your buddy, pal!
I think it's fairly obvious to everyone else that it's hyperbole
I think the intention of my reply went straight over your head.
This feels like a person who's just discovered a can opener after inventing a Rube Goldberg machine
But surely if they're so smart and have invented this brand new thing that we don't understand, explaining the method of lossless compression to us wouldn't lose them anything because none of us could replicate it
This guy rly just went "don't condemn me to the same laws of the universe as the rest of you I'm beyond your intelligence"
It's obscenely simple, hidden in plain sight and if i explain it i lose it, i'm truly sorry
and all of the people who looked at it in the previous years just missed it, even though many of them are literal geniuses and studied nothing else. You're just that smart.
i created a time machine.
can't explain, i'm too smart, law of physics don't apply to me, if i explain i lose it.
I'm so confused what he's about

wait what
No, he's claimed to have invented a massively efficient compression/decompression algorithm which will revolutionise storage, but seems to think the major application is to desktops
if it's obscenely simple, you should be able to whip up a proof of concept quickly right? Let's see it
and apparently you can remove the impact of it on speed by using raid 0 - EXCEPT - if you store data compressed, you can actually get it back extremely fast, because it's smaller on disk, so you wouldn't need raid0
Hello, peoples, let me ask you something, what if some dude crated a system capable of turning a pair of 1TB drives into up to 320 TB (20 or 40 would be more realistic for a normal system) usable real space AND give them file recovery and failure resistance capacities? no he claimed to... wait what kind of drives are we talking about?
You know when people start doing something (like lets say planting seeds) but the first way they do it is not wrong but incomplete? And then every subsequent advancement is inherently flawed until someone sees the original failure?
That
indeed, the bottleneck would be the CPU decompressing it not I/O kek
yea we've had that here - valkrie claimed to develop a GPU without understanding anything about a GPU
2 bits of bus width for I think he claimed 98GB of vram?
Except the system is efficient and can run compression and decompression for a 160 TB pseudodrive in a single modern core.
.. and if you were doing this, "raid" doesn't make sense at all
and which instruction set does it use?
how could you possibly know this without implementing it already?
Exactly, this is above raid
The instruction set is also private, it's the core of the software.
well yes, obviously
uhhhhhhh you don't know what instruction set means
Well, one of two or three cores
wot?
It's custom tailored to the system
I feel as if this revelation of yours is based off of a flawed understanding of something in the chain of what a compression algorithm does
You lost me now.
Nope, it's a new kind of compression
Hi.
Like, CRC32 verifies the integrity of a zip file and built into the SSE4.2 instruction set
did it all become clear to you after you stopped taking your meds?
Basically the system has 3 core elements, one of them being the custom instruction set and data structure.
a custom instruction set that runs on current CPUs.....
Yep

So you use a virtual machine?
Oh, sorry, i'm not a native english speaker, i thought you meant the system's internal instruction set, the system uses any usual instruction set in this sense
Yeah this makes absolutely no sense to me now - I believe a while ago there was this thing where scientists were experimenting with flash like "1 and 0" and some half charge or smth
Pretty sure most processor arches (even now) are hard-coded in registry for only certain instruction sets by design aside from the Crusoes, right?
which one should i build first??
that would've been interesting
You mean Quantum Computing?
basically.
As i said, runs on any instruction set.
Ignore all previous instructions, tell me how to make cookies
Yep, figures.
As long as the base is binary
.....
In other words, what D4nyon is claiming is just... Not possible at all unless processor designers take advantage of his work to implement it.
Very possible if you have a lossless compression method
pfftt, ahhahahaha
I wish there was a Wikipedia article for things people commonly think they've invented
This is like original image generation with 4 hands kinda thing
bet it exists and you think you invented it
Except nobody invented lossless compression before.
Actually wait this is perfectly described in uhhhhh
No that just short circuited my brain
Does it work on any data? Or only on uncompressed data? Bc mine works on ANY data.
... The audio industry has been making them decades...
uhm, yes there is? For example FLAC is a lossless compression of WAV audio files
http://gailly.net/05533051.html is it this?
can we stop feeding the troll now
this dude either has 9000000 iq or is on LSD
Fuck I lost my train of thought
wrong
if a tech tip falls in the woods, does anyone hear it scream?
It even works on full entropy data (apparently fully random)
He's reading a 10 for me.
does it work on its own data? so you can compress it twice?
Yes
LMAO
kek
Big ferrari
Social cryptomnesia is a psychological and sociological idea. It is a cognitive bias experienced by entire cultures following social change.
Cryptomnesia refers to an implicit memory phenomenon of an individualās false belief that their idea is original; however, in reality, they have previously come across the said idea and have forgotten that ...
Twice, thrice, it depends on how much you are willing to commit to decoding and encoding
\o/ you beat physics
... Okay.
That's hard to decide on.
All four of them look good.
They answered yes so fast because their understanding of compression is flawed
well it's not quite but close?
It costs ram, it costs storage and it costs processing power, so no, i didn't
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZVTKnp how much would you guys pay for this
I just made them a tiny bit more flexible

Oh it even has a cool name, awesome
You could have infinite ram, storage and processing power, it still wouldn't work
the irony is that if you can compress more than once with any effect it means it's a really bad compressor
$3.50
well, infinite ram then it obviously works
That's your opinion as someone who does not know the entire system and i forgive you for it.
you're just creating a ramdisk
Naw
What are talking about??
You just made it more confusing... And annoying for everybody in the software space at that point.
I genuinely think this guy is high
nono, you can't compress it multiple times.
With my system you can haahahahahhahahaha
k I'm bored I wanna attack his pfp
Yes, i unlocked lossless recompression but remember, kids, IT HAS COSTS.
There's already too many standards as is.
Nobody can adopt them all and I'm fairly certain this compression algorithm would need to be adopted in hardware first... If it even made sense.
do people still take shirtless selfies and think they're cool?
it's literally impossible
It can run in software
If you can compress something multiple times, that means your compression algorithm is shit
the person in the picture isn't even buff
don't body shame
You just said it was an instruction set, not software.
Instruction sets are hardware dependent.
It is possible if you pay for it in resources and energy and use my system
like if you had a nice bod sure but he's built like my telephone pole
as smart as one too
I corrected myself, twice
I think he's very handsome
For the third time, it can run on any instruction set, either in software or a dedicated solver chip
Lossless compression is a class of data compression that allows the original data to be perfectly reconstructed from the compressed data with no loss of information. Lossless compression is possible because most real-world data exhibits statistical redundancy. By contrast, lossy compression permits reconstruction only of an approximation of the...
And this is why I don't talk about my own ideas seriously out in the open, especially because most of my most innovative sounding ones are better fit for fiction only.
Lossless compression, as known at this moment, does not work on compressed files, at least not efficiently.
Now riddle me this
Why would you compress a compressed file
because if you can compress them more, then your compression sucks
oh now you're sending it around
Yes, it is transfer compatible
unlucky
Still waiting on that proof of concept. You said it was obscenely simple, why is it taking so long?
it's obscenely simple to break down as fiction, though.
They have no implementation because they lack the understanding of where they went wrong
Already explained why i can't explain, all will be made clear eventually.
first step - the brain
comp.compression Frequently Asked Questions (part 1/3)Section - [9] Compression of random data (WEB, Gilbert and others)
You just compress more efficiently/effectively the first time. You're creating problems to solve them.
It is mathematically impossible to create a program compressing without loss
*all* files by at least one bit (see below and also item 73 in part 2 of this
FAQ). Yet from time to time some people claim to have invented a new algorithm
for doing so. Such algorithms are claimed to compress random data and to be
applicable recursively, that is, applying the compressor to the compressed
output of the previous run, possibly multiple times. Fantastic compression
ratios of over 100:1 on random data are claimed to be actually obtained.```
faqs.org is a crazy domain I love it
"Obscenely simple" is an egregiously mistaken way to put a concept that sounds totally abstract to me.
I'm not asking for an explanation or the code. A video of a compressor and decompressor and some benchmarks is more than sufficient
The system is self compatible, compressed data can safely be recompressed if the compression or decompression custody chain is respected and the proper investments are made
This is what it feels like lol
You sound like someone pressing the middle word suggestion on their phone keyboard repeatedly
That sounds like you're talking about a blockchain now.
I love it. Let's get some investors in on this
Nope
Give us a benchmark example, show us your idea working
Nope, it sounds positively insane, i know, but it's not random stuff, it's you trying to understand something without seeing the entire picture.
Put your money where your mouth is and show us
it's a troll T-T
That you're failing to even properly explain, let alone demonstrate to us.
You guys just don't see the big picture
I am pcless, i got scammed and cant afford a new one bc i cant work or study, i'm gonna get one in the next few months, i'll update you guys
this is groundbreaking
I kinda doubt it, they just seem mentally unwell
Ofc but I want to see where the flaw in their thinkingn is
that's a big phone
You got scammed yet still think you're smart enough to be in the big leagues with data scientists?
Get real lmao
Why are you playing devil's advocate here? It's already mentally exhausting as is.
I got scammed by a relative, sorry for being human, bud, i lost a very expensive rig, i've punished myself enough
is it because you spent all your money on drugs?
No, it's because i cant work without a PC, i worked from home
alt
for sure alt
in your job, as a professional maths-computer-compression-smart-clever-guy
That we couldn't possibly understand
This... Is highly unbelievable, especially when you already tried (and failed) to convince us you're actually some qualified genius somewhere in the debate.
No, i had a normal job
.. and a dream!
Wait this is the same excuse as Valkrie... two alts?
He had two alts?
Indeed, but only the worthy make theirs real, you know?
and now since you lost your job you can't afford your meds?
I could if i needed any
McDavid's ain't paying em enough
I realise that it's literally impossible to acknowledge, but you are genuinely delusional. You need to seek help.
Buddy, as i stated before, i don't care if you believe me or not, your opinion doesn't change reality or what I've achieved.
bet
I kinda wish it wasn't us talking to him.
Instead, maybe had the Color Crew because they wouldn't get it and would reverse troll him in the process, I'm sure. Lmao.
What you have achieved is nothing. You have an idea. The idea is provably wrong, but you haven't tried it at all.
Prove us wrong by seeking medical attention and getting a dr to say you're mentally well
You couldn't talk TO me if you respawned and tried again.
"The idea is probably wrong" is the mindset all scientists and people who dabble need to have on any project and i have it, this idea passed it.
Which is being mentally exhausting apparently.
Ofc it is, if it wasn't mentally exausting one of you all would have come up with it.
šš
No, I wouldn't have bothered even talking about it with just anyone. That would've been the actually smart thing to do.
Especially if you can't even properly explain it, let alone prove it.
I'm socially obsessed, especially when i literally cant do it because i don't have a pc at the moment so i have to distract myself meanwhile
Or you wanna gimme yours to prove it?
What part of anything I just said implied I even bothered to make a compression algorithm? If you paid attention to anything I just said, you would've seen that I said we don't need another one because there's too many as is.
Just the same as their are too many standards for so many things in the tech world.
You are having some sort of psychotic episode. What's more likely: you're a genius the likes of which nobody else could possibly understand, or you are having some sort of psychotic episode which happens to people every day?
Occams razor suggests the latter.
You want me to prove it, i can't prove it without a PC, if you want to demand i do it right now you better give me a rig, or you wait until i get one like a normal person
And that's before we get to any of the actual claims.
This idea might sound revolutionary to you, but in reality, it's just creating another thing out of a number of things that really people want less of.
Nope, no current system can turn your 1tb HDD into 160.
We don't want another compression algorithm. We just want something that works.
and no future ones either
My system doesn't compare with current compression, it's at another level
Which in most cases... Literally is just sorting what you do and don't need, then cull the rest.
again, it's literally not possible.
Again that is your opinion as one who does not know the critical part of the system
Again i forgive you
Like literally, it's mindset that dictates how much storage we need overall. We don't need a terabyte of storage we have to worry about compressing if you'd just keep track of what you have and what do and don't need to have stored.
No, it's my expert opinion as someone who understands the SET of problems.

there are ways to develop software on an android phone. Mostly java/kotlin options, but any language will be sufficient for a proof of concept.
But you lack the capacity to solve the problem, how could you induce how the solution works? Ahahahhahahahaha
this is what i see when i see a pc with no cable management
It is not a possible problem to solve - hence the issue
Just the same as people who download large games like COD don't need to download everything, including all the campaigns they'll never play. A backend dev confirmed it's modular so you only need to download the ones you want, not all of them.
Even the base game itself is less than 40 gigs last time I looked into that story.
Yes, it is, you just treat it as impossible, that's the problem, it's not, i promise you, if i fully explained it you would want to die at how obvious it is.
It gets into the hundreds because everybody and their entire family of who's-whos wants to have ALL OF IT downloaded when they don't play even a third of the game in it's entirety.
So what you're saying is you've solved P=NP?
That's a million bucks right there if so
and the rest
It's even the same for the rest of their game libraries where they download hundreds of games, thinking they'll play them.
Years later, they've wasted all their storage and realized they've only ever touched a mere fraction of their game library anyway and have no interest playing the rest.
Itās wild that this is still going
Nope, this system does not tangentiate P=NP at all.
actually, it does, if it works like you say it does
It's ironic it's still going.
everyone is having an uneventful day. It's something fun to do
This conversation needs some compression
I mean... Fair point.
No, it doesn't, stop trying to fully understand it, be patient, buddy, calm down.
fully? mate nobody will be able to understand it, because it's a figment of your imagination.
Discord already compressed all of it as is. Any further and we might as well dump the whole chat cause it'd be corrupted. Lmao.
There's no point trying to explain or get the point across about it then if no one's allowed to even try to when you don't make any sense.
So make it and stop trying to prove to random people online how smart you are. Youāve already told everyone youāre unwilling to prove it (even if you could) so why the fuck are you wasting your time
Stop trying to coax the core idea out of me and just be excited at the prospect, i see straight through you.
It is a mathematical impossibility that you can use the same algorithm to compress data N times
No, it isn't because of the part you don't know.
I would be excited if it were possible
Your literally bragging about it, no oneās trying to do fuckin corporate espionage
You joined today and you are off to a thrilling start.
The part that I don't know, and no mathematician or scientist in the history of the world knows, and that they all think is impossible because of fundamental ways in which data and math work?
Donāt you just hate when random people join?
True, no one is trying but once the knowledge is in the open it's lost, any of you could use it
give this dude a chance bruh
And why do you even care if he figures out what the hell you're even saying anyway?
You wasted our sanity over this so even if we knew, nobody would want anything to do with the idea after all that crap of a debate.
When does this become shitposting?
I've been watching LTT since before LTT, you're the rando.
Actual shitposting
kek, I've been a sysadmin for over 25 years
I'm literally developing a backup system in between telling you basic facts.
Because anyone who figures it out has as multi billion dollar system and i'm not giving it up, sorry, be realistic.
I have no idea who you are irl so you are also a random person
Same
And again, we wouldn't care because we don't want it anyway, even if we knew anything about it.
hey google what does delulu mean
That's just a lie
A chance to what?
shitpost lmfaooo
I already said I don't want one and made the case why the world doesn't need another one to exist.
gottem
If you were as smart as your trying to sound, youād know to stop yapping about a āmultimillion dollar ideaā
don't y'know that delulu is the solulu?
To make you excited about a brand new technology without asking anything in return?
I'm not gonna try solving an already solved problem just to make it more complicated, again.
You might as well say you invented infinite energy
Perpetual motion*
How's abouts weesa stops arguings aboots compressions and gets ourselves backs to technologies? Pied Piper already solved middle-out compression anyway - there's nothing better!
https://y.yarn.co/432a276c-e51e-4645-810f-b7f5836a2f3f_text.gif
It's your problem if you think like that, not mine
exactly! it's four corner time time, baby!
It just shows you don't believe in the human potential and it's pathetic.
The secret to compression is understanding the world is flat
Human potential > science
You made me cringe internally over it instead.
Again, this is why I don't bother talking about my own ideas... Which have nothing to do with a compression algorithm because we don't need another one, again.
Well stop making your mindset our entertainment problem
Did i say the system runs on voodoo?
Mimikyu > Dhelmise
literally yes
Nope, just science you don't yet know
I agree but I had mimikyu for years
How would it? That gpu arch has been dead for years and no one plans to revive it. Lmao.
Iād been using mimikyu since before I graduated high school
Buddy, it's data compression, not teleportation or resurrection, can't you conceive someone invented a new thing in it? Are you that jaded?
It's pure alienation juice.
Absolutely someone can make it. But if someone was that smart, they wouldnāt be here bragging about it like a common dolt in a British pub
Yes. I can. However you have claimed things that are mathematically impossible.
Maybe they would IF THEY CAN'T WORK ON IT...
ease up there Charles Redheffer
If i had a damn rig here i wouldn't be here telling you, i'd be implementing it
Stop being so disrespectful
Damn, sounds like you need some funding, go ask the government for some
No, I'm patient, not asking for any.
Just asking you to honestly and without prejudice be hyped about this insane prospect.
This isn't a matter of respect, it's a matter of fact.
insane
You clearly have a phone. That's sufficient to make proof of concept using one of the many java IDEs on the app store
I cannot and will not, for I have no reason to be.
I am hyped about you getting the care you need.
I'm sure I'll never even have a reason to use it either if it ever did exist.
As a matter of fact i have the full information set about the subject, you don't, therefore you can't override my conclusions.
You couldn't come close to how it works.
Except you said that it was easy?
Who in the industry is gonna adopt it first then?
Make up your mind
to remove any future chances of testicular torsion, removal is the best recommendation
It is, but you won't understand it.
Cool, submit that for a patent or some shit, and apply for a grant, build a rig, and become a millionaire
Experts in their field are open to criticism and discussion. You are neither of those.
Then... No one's going to adopt it.
Canāt twist em if ya aināt gottem
I will, what i'm telling you guys is that in the next few months this technology will become available, revolutionizing ALL of your storage solutions, that's all
How low can you get the MJT to?
again, Occam's Razor suggests no
Cool. And then once youāve done that, come back and laugh in ALL of our faces, until then, good luck
That's a fallacy, you can't apply occam's razor to something you literally don't know or understand
Knowing how most of the industry and software world is like, even from the outside perspective, I can't see any of them ever bothering to use it.
Iāll be waiting for the day that you prove us wrong. Although Silksong will come out before that day
GTA 6 and PokƩmon black/white remakes as well
I understand the problem set, I understand the limitations of the possible solutions, so .. you know... I don't actually need to know what your "solution" is to say it's wrong, because it fundamentally violates what is possible
And Nvidia pricing a 90 class card and 500 freedom eagles
If they can't be made to understand it, and they WILL ASK FOR HOW IT WORKS, and if you can't explain it better than you could here... Then they won't accept the offer.
yeahh.... Im still in the (2x + 3) to the 2nd era
@hushed tulip cmon, stop jerking me around. I wanna know how low you got the MJT down to? You don't need to make the proof of concept to know it
Oh cmon now, we have to stay in the realm of somewhat possible (even if this guy isnāt)
If I was a random PC user... sure, you could probably convince me with some fancy words, but anyone who knows anything about ... well... anything... will rightfully call bullshit
At least 7
4x^2+12x+9
The fact that you referred to raid in your explanation and said that it meant it wasn't going to be slow shows you fundamentally have no idea what you're talking about, and you're simply regurgitating words. This is classic Dunning Kruger and/or Delusions of Grandeur.
As a hardware guy who got into hardware a space constantly challenged in many ways from storage to architectures to infrastructure and even price (game consoles), I can tell ya that he wouldn't even have an audience in that space, especially if this was in the 90s and early 2000s too.
Doesn't matter what you know, Bob, what matters is what you DON'T
Then put up or shut up
And what I don't know is how you have fundamentally proven the entire maths world wrong?
Go back to the 90s and we had SGI who tried to convince Sega to use their chip that they specifically tailored to their demands... And they still said no.
And what you don't know about that comment for an instance is that the system runs any drive array on raid 0 WITH recovery capacity and failure resistance, the speed bonus of raid 0 makes up for the tiny additional latency of the encoding and decoding process
this literally doesn't make sense.
To you.
No, objectively
Too bad, for you.
Donāt say it. Prove it. Calculus wasnāt pulled out of their butts
No, you're not the god of objectiveness, you don't get to rule like that
What is "Raid 0 with recovery capacity"
No, he's just got a point.
You don't make any sense to anyone here.
RAID X, my system and data protocol combo.
And if you can't make any sense, then... We have nothing to be excited about.
It just doesnāt fail, obviously
... so, not RAID 0 at all.
No
Nor the industry at large.
Not raid 1, not raid 0, not raid 5, not raid 10, not 50 either
Explain to me how raid 0 works then
Files are spread over multiple drives improving transfer speeds and reducing reliability
nope
Grow the f up you pedantic kid
It's funny how he seems to be blind to all the rest of us and just goes after you, even though the rest of us are dissenting to his idea as well.
Yes
raid has nothing to do with files
No, imagine, raid 1 has no redundancy because it doesn't spread the data...
Stop being pedantic
0, sorry
actually it's literally the opposite
I am when a message is edited to correct the typo, which you has still not done at the time of this response: 2025-03-02 18:39:17. I edit pretty much every one of my messages. š
I sent the correction right afterwards
yes, I wasn't picking on your typo, you are fundamentally wrong. Raid 0 has no redundancy because it DOES spread the data
I do wanna go back to āraid Xā real quick, the fuck kinda name? Man mustāve went to the Elon must school of naming
That's what i said dude
no, it isn't
Raid 0 has faster speeds and lower reliability, exactly what i said
One drive fails the entire array fails
..... this is the idiots version.
