mostly because java is a bytecode based language, it isnt compiled to a binary, its compiled to an intermediate language. those "optimisation mods" dont do anything beyond skipping certain steps that the game code takes, if that particular mod thinks it doesnt need to take those steps, some of them re-implement certain methods within the engine, methods that are called 10s of 1000s of times per second, to produce the lowest latency version of that method, sometimes sacrificing accuracy because of it... why do you think there are so many different "optimisation mods", its because they all do what that particular developer thinks is the best course of action, and are all wildly different

bedrock isnt that much more optimised, but it is written in C, a binary compiled language, so runs much much faster, and directly on the CPU without anything interpreting it and translating it in-between the game code and the CPU its self... it even comes with native GPU shaders too, which pre-compile for your particular hardware, instead of the generic ones that come with java

bedrock is just written in a more appropriate language, with hindsight

I have a very old library that implemented P2P networking that was utilized during space battles

With lasers flying everywhere and thousands of props being destroyed every second I needed a way to push entity information quicker

Oh it was certainly some magic

Pulling that off over Lua by exploiting some tricks to run direct assembly in the source engine was like an act of God when I successfully managed it at the time

I spawned another Lua interpreter that had exposed additional functions in the engine to custom Lua function pointers

Using that I would run another process in the engine that would handle P2P networking and then send that data through an intermediate packet processor sorting which was natural source engine network packets and what was my custom flagged P2P packets

If it was custom flagged with a preamble of AE0F then it would be invested by the second Lua interpreter

These were then piped to their proper native engine functions to more quickly update entity information before the server sent the update

I was doing a second part of this project that would allow me to have the server completely ignore sending the entity updates to the users if it knew that it was handled by the P2P

This would have reduced server load significantly

At some point if you pump enough power through anything it does become a heater

Many materials will actually just disintegrate at the same time that you get it pumping out the amount of heat that you want

A lot of materials also require tons of power to actually get it to the point of putting out heat. And once you get to that point it's actually hard to control because there's not much granular range

The firmware doesn't necessarily take up the entire SPI flash chip space

You can tag stuff onto the end and sometimes it will continue running all of the code or binary you have stuffed at the end

Sometimes signing the firmware doesn't work depending on the implementation because what happens is the firmware signature for the specific space that it says it takes up is used

Everything that comes after it is not in the scope of the check

The security mechanisms just assume that nothing comes afterwards and that all you have on that flashed firmware is a single binary blob
