My 5800x3d can sometimes spike for a bit and reach ~80C. It will come down after a little bit and mainly happens with synthetic loads or initial loading for Minecraft with shaders when it's having to generate and calculate everything. I've heard that the 3d chips run hotter, but is this ok?

The PC is used and is 2 yrs old, potentially needing new paste, or maybe I could under volt it? Any suggestions?

I think both mc and the loads I'm using (slicing for 3d printing) are both single threaded processes so maybe that has something to do with it as well?

I think the graphics card BIOSes do checks to make sure they have sufficient power cables connected

like I have had a machine fail to boot before with a message like "Please ensure the graphics card is plugged into the PCIE power cables" when i had a loose cable.
