my homelab is old used blades that consume a ton of power which is expensive for me. the complexity of spinning it up and down for usage is way more involved.

In EC2 I have a lambda that spins the instance up and then spins it down when it doesn't detect activity. In practice this ends up being cheaper for me 🙂
