yeah, so the original was a genesis game, apparently (also known as Road Rash 1994) was released on the 3do and other disc based systems

I have watched a lot of CRT salvage/repair videos, I was following one channel of a guy who buys really old CRT TVs from the 1940s-1970s and tries to get them up and running again

some of his videos of restoring the 1940s-1950s ones were really interesting and look like it took a lot of skill.

soldering is easy to learn, but difficult to master. if you do decide to get into soldering, use leaded solder to start with. you will have to be more careful of fumes, so youll need a fumefan, but it makes learning WAY easier

the oldest one that I have is an Amstrad CPC monochrome monitor from 1984. The ones I actually use often... a Sony Trinitron TV from the early 90s and a CTX PC monitor from 2002 or so.

They have some advantages. They have much higher colour quality than LCDs, no input lag, and are specifically designed to display the resolutions that old computers and game consoles output

I think part of it is just nostalgia too.

cause ya really can't use em for anything else, they apparently were all pretty low resolution(the g3 is apparently capped at 1024x768 or 800x600) meaning game consoles would need an expensive upscaler and modern computers would just look like crap

I do also have a PC monitor from 2003 or so which is quite fun to play with, I bought a HDMI to VGA adapter, and this monitor can actually handle 1080p which I find quite funny

CRTs often struggle to handle higher resolutions ad high refresh rates, and then there is the power usage, physical size/weight, etc.

1024x768 for example on the iMac G3's CRT is very flickery because it can only handle that at 75hz.

I usually run mine at 800x600 for that reason.
