From experience and from what I've learned from others' experiences, going Nvidia really is just for compatibility or getting the absolute best quality. Only advantage you have with Nvidia is being able to record, transcode, and edit 8k raw footage easily and being able to do gpu computed special effects quickly. Otherwise, you won't automatically need it.
