you can rip DVDs too, and blurays, they have protection, but the copy protection on those is largely broken now.. ripping the movie for personal use is legal... breaking the copy protection is.. a grey area

the copy protection method is an algorithm, owned by a company, and by implementing the algorithms that decode it, depending on how you figured out how to do that, you could be breaking different laws.. ie. if someone stole the source code or the technical documents to that protection method... illegal.. but.. if someone did a clean room reverse engineering of it from say, an actual hardware dvd player, to create NEW documentation for the copy protection system, and you then use that documentation to create your software bypass for that protection.. thats fine

everyone just uses libdvdcss for dvds now, and libbluray, for blurays.. vlc more or less solved "the problem" for both of those, and they are generally accepted as clean

if you had just deleted the partitions and had not created a new FS, you would have been in a much better position, but creating the new FS and starting writing, is what ha boned you here... and yes, use ventoy with an ubuntu image on it, and you can install any of those tools i mentioned and point it to your disk

Ah, well then it's up for debate. I can tell you from experience, a mobile 4090 runs SW great. But there are bugs. Components in assemblies lose their rendering. Opening the same assembly on an intel igpu is not nearly as smooth, but things render fine.

Honestly I don’t think it’s as far as people are saying. Even if battlemage is rough driver wise from the start, so is every AMD gen. And the a770 is putting up a good solid fight against current cards. The battlemage hardware is likely going to be pretty good

Arc drivers are in a pretty solid spot right now, 8 mobile Xe2 cores have been shown to be pretty promising, so I am excited for battlemage

Intel has a pretty fantastic driver team now, considering a lot of Alchemist issues were hardware based, and eventually the driver team managed to help remedy those faults
