I want it. What is it and how do I redeem it
some stores allow you to pay like 1/5th of the price to use the phone for X ammount of time (atleast here they do).
You got to go on Microsoft redeem then redeem it
Private me
nah i dont have time to keep switching
Get the 15 pro max. I have it and nothing beats the battery. Googles phone comes close but the battery and software optimization with the iPhone 15 pro max is by far the best
Yo private me
yah but samsung is good too i just want it to go trought the day my current phone battery is shit
Samsung 22 ultra will last all day. And charge fast. Get that or the 15 pro max.
I’d stick with android if you like that one though
just rusty then and chipped
I like your profile picture
nah the s22 ultra is laggy i want a s23 or s24
and the code is free?
Yea
Dang I didn’t know that. Good to k
Ow now I won’t buy it. Mother f******
Discord gave it to me
post it here
Ok
HahahahahahHh
what
What do you think of the Google phone
Which one
15 Pro Max
nah the plus is 60hz
nice
So pixel 7 got it also and the fold except for pixel tablet
I have the 15 pro max and the interface just gets boring but the battery life is great
I didn’t know Chinese phones worked in the US anymore
I have a iPhone XS and it sucks
Ahahahahahahahahahahah
So did the code work
Whatever you get with apple make sure it’s the 120hz. Makes the biggest difference in the world
My phone screen glitches me out I can unlock it because my screen won’t respond and it just doesn’t let me do anything
I had a s20fe I should have never changed it
Who got the code
For only 120 bucks? Dang. How was the battery and the speed
Who
I got 15 Pro Max
Upgraded it from some $200 Xiaomi
Should I stay with iPhone or go back to android
I may get the s24fe
You can't even imagine how much I tried getting it to burn
Question Is why do you want it to burn.
You can't judge my axe and it's sharpness because I have the axe
I need to get back to the gym. I’ve been slacking
Regaining lost strength shouldn’t be hard
hi
I used to do like 250 lbs deadlift as a max. I could probably only do like 150-175 lbs as a max now
My goal was 315 lbs deadlift. I think I can achieve it if I push hard enough
Hah
Muscle memory is goated
That's not what that term typically means lol
Are you perhaps Irish and fell off a horse a couple years back?
iPhone.
There's no way you don't know what muscle memory is and that's the only guy I can remember who also didn't know
Hy
Well you can say that muscle memory is just muscles remembering movements that you’ve done before
That is the only thing I've heard it described for
How long were you off the gym?
About two years
Then based on studies it'll take you roughly 9 months to get your old strength back
Well, and according to some guy from the Florida Atlantic University
Well apparently muscles can increase in myonuclei from resistive training
After some googling, apparently that's unironically what muscle memory means in gym terms
And there is studies that show that muscles retain this even after atrophy and detraining
How long though is uncertain
So yeah, maybe I was the one falling from a horse, damn
Some studies show that this can last for around 15 years or that it can be indefinitely. So more research is needed.
Well I just had a awkward moment with my mom in the car.. gotta love when the "internet music" comes over the YouTube music .... Did you know that ram ranch really rocks?
lol
fair enough
Windows 11 home
Just the basic
18 naked cowboys
Oh god lmao
Im currently deciding between linux as a daily OS or windows as a daily OS
Yeah, well win 10 pro on school laptop💀
Win 10 is still really good
Better than win 11 in some regards
Presently I'm. Blasting the 2023 Timmy trumpet set at Tomorrowland
Both, at the same time, all the time
Windows 11 and Windows 10 are the same thing effectively
It wouldn't be crazy to call Windows 11 a Windows 10 skin
I use Kali Linux in a live USB for cybersec studies
But Im in a dilemma for my main OS
Yea that's true
Yeah, the TMP2.0 is mostly pointless, ok not really but why can’t we make it recommended instead
👍
What do yall recommend me?
Linux or Win for main OS
Tell me with your experiences 🙏🙏
I am on windows now 😦
Was on ubuntu linux but FL STUDIO was too stuped, and im too stuped to get it running perfectly smooth..
Also do you guys have pc or laptop
It all depends on what type of software, or applications you want or need in your daily. If you game, or produce music, or even video edit.. All of these are things to consider when choosing a OS.
linux users will hate me on this but windows better even if it uses more ram
you get more app support and it is better with game support
and you dont have to use wine for apps
guys i need help with something its related to ssd
I want to disagree on that.. BUT i havent been on all the linuxes out there, i dont know if all them fr be sucking with window applications.
I would love to run a linux distro as a daily OS, because of privacy.. But if my apps are buggy like 60% of the time, i rather be on windows 😦 Sad reality for me atleast.
just a PSA, if you're using Linux, do not update KDE Kwin. It has bugs regarding GTK Wayland app windows such as Firefox.
I might be able to help, what you need help with?
anyways that's all
I do play video games, sometimes I pirate, i dont really produce music, i code on neovim
For my normal work, i do cybersecurity on a kali linux USB
can i talk here or somewere else ?
how do i know if my ssd died
So for my main OS, is windows better?
I was on fedora 49, and firefox wouldnt let me watch youtube videos for some reason.. lol.
oen of them
probably
Yea this is public, im no admin or nun, but im sure there aint no problem.
Did you put in unofficial third party repos?
Both
You said your into kali.. how far in your journey are you in learning cybersecutiry?
i have a ssd and i wanna buy a ssd enclosure but i dont wanna buy a incompatibal with my ssd show can you see my ssd and tell me if its gonna work or not
have you tried unpluggin and pluggin?
yep
it was in a laptop
then i pulled it out
and then it wont work even with the laptop
I have 2 laptops 1 for school, 1 for personal but the personal one is an Asus Tuf gaming a15 so it’s not like I miss out a ton on upgrading
just got a pc
Because with Fedora you have to, because the company's American and they're scared shitless about getting sued by annoying decadent Californians about media codecs.
Add in a third party repository which has hardware accelerated media playback enabled, so you can watch youtube with hardware decoding enabled.
Im definitely not an expert
I've started with CTFs on hackthebox and tryhackme
Other than that, ive used some tools on Kali to run analysis on my windows PC so i could see how secure it actually is
I have a custom PC, a macbook pro, and a normal windows laptop
And an iPad too but that doesn't count as either
1/2 laptop
i'm honestly so jealous of apple users
Why?
Its just glorified tbh
You gotta pay for so many things istg
They have access to the best laptop hardware, ever. And iOS is leagues ahead of whatever shitware Android companies and Microsoft pushes out.
I was a yuge Android fan back in my teen days, but now I hate Android more than ever and I tell everyone to go Apple.
apple just is bad
The only apple thing I like are the iPads
I prefer android personally
Don’t be, I have been a horrible sucker of an iPhone 6s for 5 years and an iPhone 12 for nearly 1
The M4 is bloody powerful. It trades blows with Zen 4 CPUs but it sips like, what? 30 watts?
From what i understand, it all depends what type of port you have on your pc, or laptop. You have to open it up and check if its labeled.(Ill check if thers a way to see through terminal in a bit.)
SATA, Means you can use SATA SSD.
M.2, Means you can use NVMe.
PCIe require PCIE slots.
Apart from that Id refer to the manufacturing page to make sure it is compatible with your interface.
What OS does Linus himself use though?
on what laptops yeah but desktop no way
can i dm u
Windows x86 laptops run hot, are fragile as hell, and will deplete their batteries faster than you can say Jeronimo.
They also have inconsistent ACPI S0 sleep. Which is unacceptable.
I would def read up a little on that.
Yea add me :3
Guys what OS does Linus use?
Anyone got any idea?
Windows duh
Ah
Also what’s with the apple 8gb ram beef and that now they include 16gb? I have a windows laptop with 8gb and I can play games more than fine.
He was advent on staying with Windows Server for a long time too until he bit the bullet and went with Linux
yeah one time he tried linux i think he did not like it
Alot of linux users keep recommending me to switch to linux as my main OS for general use
I wish i looked into it, i sorta liked being in fedora. Was only there for a short amount of time. Im thinking of migrating to any arch linux distro, to start messing around with stuff.
This is causing me confusion
I'm an experienced Arch Linux user, don't. I'm advising you not to. You will be sorely disappointed.
Oh, why so?
The only Linux OS you should use is the one from the Steam Deck
Kindly Elaborate
what spec do you have
Steam os
Ryzen 5 something
Radeon 7600xt
32 GB ram
24 inch 1920 x 1080 144 hz display
2 TB SSD
But till now, no OS
If the Linux fanboys read this, we gonna have a war
- Too different of a structure from Windows nomenclature
- Everything will require checks and balances, you don't get to dilly dally click 'run as administrator' once and be on your merry way. Everything must be audited and checked.
- Desktop UIs are still very fragmented, advice is all over the place
- Documentation for Linux is beyond subpar, worse than Microsoft's own shitty forum. Only Arch Linux and Gentoo have decent documentation. But those have a very steep learning curve, but it's possible.
Is using beginner friendly distros like Mint worth it?
I could just very well debloat windows and use a custom iso file from the Chris Titus windows utility
Honestly, Mint is the least terrible one you could choose from the get go. Don't expect it to do all the things Windows would.
I wouldn't recommend Linux to be used on a laptop or tablet either. Only as a traditional desktop with one monitor.
I do use multiple monitors though
Both have different refresh rates
Linux Mint has a GUI/Desktop Environment called 'Cinnamon' which resembles a lot like Windows 7
I'm guessing you're using Nvidia too, in that case, stick with Windows.
I have an nvidia lying around
And an AMD too
Is gaming on Linux possible?
When it comes to linux.. If you start using it, youll be stuck in the linux world for a long time.
yes
Yes. Of course. With a bunch of aesterisks though
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
proton
Everything is possible through linux.
But look at it as a puzzle, or lego piece.
If you want it to run a certain way, you build it up to run that way.
(from what i understand lol)
But are all games possible?
- You will get slightly lower performance
- Games on Steam that do not have native Linux support will have to be run through Steam's built in WINE-Proton compatibility tool
- This, most of the times, work
- Games that rely on anticheat do not work at all
I just want to use it normally and do some light programming for college
windows 10 or 11 cant do that
Honestly just stick with Windows lol. Linux is still very finnicky and requires your attention. And the community is a bit toxic because it's filled with blind elitism.
UNless you're really curious
You have used Arch, pretty sure you have used other distros too
Give your recommendation, would you recommend i jump over to linux as a normal general OS?
Ah alright
Linux Mint
For the general user
Community is definitely very toxic, been in a few linux discord servers
And their reddit too
I do not recommend Ubuntu anymore because they've made so many confusing changes that new users will have no idea how to deal with
If you fr want to learn something, and be reading for hours on hours. If you like it aswell. Switch to linux, hop around, see what everything has to offer.
If you need your computer to work with certain apps like now, stick to windows, and you can always run VMs with any linux distro you wish.
Hmm ill try it out
I have used it before but not exactly as a daily driver
Well I suppose Im gonna have to experiment alot
If you're going to try Linux and are not sure, why not dual boot mint and windows or something?
Oh yeah, you can say that again. The developers are even worse!
You most likely do not know the drama that goes behind the scenes but lets just say that there's a lot of nonsense, a lot of gaslighting, gatekeeping .etc
It's the nature with humans really, we're a bunch of silly emotional animals.
I wouldn't recommend dual booting.
Honestly if you're very curious, I'd suggest you just run a Linux Virtual Machine inside VMWare Workstation
Drama? 💀
Ah i definitely dont know about that
You'll be free to try, make all the mistakes in the world, in a VM.
People say to not dual boot, and just run each OS on different hard drives.
I havent personally experimented, so if you want that first hand experience, give it a shot fr
Don'tt be afraid to make mistakes in a VM. Mistakes are what makes us learn faster
Linux is open source and alot of changes are made by the community itself, so ofc there would be alot of drama
In a big corporation like microsoft, all devs work under a boss so dramas and fights are less if even present
Personally I dualboot regardless of how my disk is arranged. UEFI standards are a lifesaver compared to the time where you dual booted on legacy BIOS systems
Nahhh just run linux, and if you mess up, just start from scratch 🤣
Aight ill try in VM
I want others to go through the same pain i went through.. (losing all my data)
Yeah that's honestly the best option, there's tutorials on youtube you can watch on VMWare Workstation linux installation
I'll check it out
It's free btw
Thanks alot
Appreciate it!!
No worries!
Yea that it is
I did dual boot for a period without issue. Some people do have issues as I understand. Your experience may vary lol. Switched to Linux only on my desktop, but still need Windows for certain tasks, and keep it around on other PCs.
Running each os on different drives is still considered dual boot by many many people lol
i just hate the fact that windows fr sells our data. I have no clue what data, but i just dont feel safe when im here on windows.
Bro very nearly everything you use that can connect to the internet is selling your data, don't get it twisted
you can disable most of the telemetry
the main issue is that the data that is suppose to be private or untraceable is traceable and has been used for targeted attacks or at least has been proven to be possible
i shall look into it. I have close to 0 knowledge. Need to read a lil to keep up with the big dawgs
It doesn't really matter if you disable telemetry in Windows. Every other app you use is going to be collecting your data.
Gonna be wild when you find out what discord does
thats literally so gross.
always a great day when your gaming desktop refuses to boot into any OS regardless of storage device
Where can i find out, or what can i read. WIKI?
Or you can just assume, that like every other free platform, it’s selling your data
I always thought discord was safe.. I guess im too stuped, and dont even know where i be texting through lol
If you're not buying a product, you are their product, pretty much.
Even if you are buying a product, your also the secondary product
It's not just free programs, though.
cant eat free
just a fish in a pool filled with sharks
On a different note, a steam lawsuit and a Minecraft lawsuit in the same year is kinda wild
Any time you agree to a EULA, there will be something in it which says that by using their software you agree that the company can collect certain information.
In the case of NZXT they collect all your data lol
And can collect it, sell it, give it away, whatever they want
Or sell it to the people calling you about extended warranties or tax relief programs.
So specifically what data do they collect.
Can it be location, access to your files?
boys
Anything they have access to, read each individual companies/products privacy policy
do not break it
10 4
break it
i got a friend walking me thru getting the right parts and shit but im gonna be building it on my own to learn
can you give me the pcpartpicker list
i havent decided on everything yet but just assume im getting either the best or closest to the best
running to the microcenter for a 9800x3d next week
i just wanna make sure so can you give me the pcpartpicker list
well point being i havent even made one, i can make a half assed one
dont touch the white, and the black wire together, it WILL explode.
y does the vids in floatplane are shorter then the ones on yt doesnt it supposed to be the same vids with extras??
They have no sponsors
The extras go in a separate video
hmmm
Hopefully my mom and me can pay off the roof replacement (including the chimney)
We have to pay like $30,000 for it. Kinda seems expensive?
The plywood and shingles were replaced
yhe saw that i think it will be better to put the extras in the same vid
idk... 5 bucks...
.
Hopefully this lasts us like 25-30 years
They have better done an amazing job. Atleast the leaks are gone.
Been looking for a good server to build a very fast storage server with. Then i start looking at ssd and they so damm expansive if you want 30tb of enterprise redundant storage
*llm prompt
Wait, how can it be prompt?
Ok so yeah $30,000 for a roof replacement is definitely expensive
Oh well. It’s too late
30k is a lot
ping me as much i can , i am trying to remove dopamine hit i get from notifications
@full fossil
remove dopamine? or get dopamine.
Might as well tore the entire damn roof down and started from scratch with that money
Must be a roof thats like 1000sq ft
It’s 824 square feet
hi
@full fossil
Thats tiny.
Damn fun with guru has had his account hacked and is now streaming doge coin. Hopefully he gets his account back

electric supercar also had it hacked and got turned into whole bitcoin channel lol
335
hi
how does one get hacked?
fishing planet?
phishing link
emails+apps=hacked
"hey, come review our new app!"
or game
electric supercar channel, hard to be a game
even simple documents are not safe
yeah
so its not possible to hack someone through a game?
through a game you created and made the person download, sure
Like if we was in fishin planet, would you be able to hack me
there have been games with RCE
yea no lol
someone who can do that will not do that to your silly ass, trust me
how df do people get others ips, and stuff through a game? Or is that all myths
so anyone can know wher i am legally?
sure
🤣
enjoy ur bread
well dam
oh btw, not your house, just the server youre connected to
so, that'd be a city of your isp
easy they can just see where you are connected from as the server needs to know where you are
you can use a VPN to hide it but some games do not allow vpns
yea like most games, and even if they do allow, they run like trash.
so apart from ddossing, what can someone do with my ip
see the general area you live in
they cant ddos the public ip lol
also here are some stories that would be fun for october
i would click the link, but im scared
k
only cod id play is bo2
boo
they are normal links but good you are not clicking them as way too many click what ever and its a quick way to get a virus so good job on that
but its forum posts about RCE exploits in games
yea for the most part i try to search it up on my own.
But it actually is possible to hack someone if they click a link with a fake website huh
google is under ur fingers
yo thats crazy. I actually read into this apps EULA. Got down to privacy and whatnot, "collects, stores, maintains, and shares information
about you in accordance with its Privacy Policy, which is available at
https://cymatics.fm/privacy. " And the link literally doesnt have anything...
wife
chat i found some food
Browsers nowadays I think confirm every time you download something, worst case I think someone just snatches a bunch of system info that they can from your browser
um i dont think thats gonna feel very good when it comes out
I could be mistaken but mostly that’s how things seem to work
wel thats scary
Take that with a grain of salt, but it’s good to use a privacy-focused browser
i heard somewhere that using tor isnt even safe no more. Or if you dont use DNS or something.
I’d do your research again and double check. If anything just assume that tor and a custom dns are tools in the toolkit
Chrome used to just auto-download from websites.
I used edge until they got rid of that actually really nice tab grouping thing
yea forsure, for the most part i really be talking out my ass when it comes to tech stuff. lol
free GOG game if anyone wants it HTXWCBC00A09BF2757
BET
A lot of people do until they learn what’s going on for real. It’s fun to learn new things
What's with all these amazon games?
amazon prime gaming, they give away a few free games on epic and on GOG each month
the ones i dont want, i give away to people on here, to make sure amazon still pays for them, even if i dont want them
Speaking of games I should see how well cyberpunk runs now that I have Linux mint installed on my framework 16. And maybe check out GOG on it too, I’ve never used it before
cyber punk sounds like a nice game to get into lowkey. Might have to get bros to steam share lol
not sure how well it runs.. but.. i will tell you that its very very short
just as it starts to get interesting... "no, we are finished.. you are done"
ji
The game?
Hi
yeah, cyberpunk the game, the main story, with side quests.. is quite short
sounds beautiful. Depends what short is to you? Like 10 hour gameplay in total?
around 10 hours yeah
i was expecting 20ish
No spoilers tho lol, if anything I’ll make up for that time by just wondering where the hell I should be and what I should do
its still fun, its still worth playing, just warning you that its short
I’ll get phantom liberty too
that should make it longer, i played it before that came out
Oh ya and I finally finished doom eternal, so I might replay it and go for the ancient gods
By chance yall play csgo?
i saw someone play cs community or something on a laptop, and they were surfing.. Literally the only reason i want to get csgo back somehow
I think I have an account with a copy
i loved new-new doom and doom eternal
Oh ya, since I completed the game I wonder if I should go in as if I’m new again or go in with all my guns n stuff and activate the infinite ammo cheat
I would love to just mow down the mortally challenged with the fully upgraded turret
I use steam a lot.
i am now an msi hater
Before that log in I hadn't used it for 2 years, but one of my friends wanted to play portal 2.
First MSI motherboard I had was a b660 with what I have to assume was a damaged bios, had to go in for a replacement board from ASUS. Memory express was very cool about the whole thing
not like I never used it
whomever at apple decided that in order to add a custom sticker to imessage you have let it try to crop out the subject with AI, and you can't override it, i just wanna talk
Is that a png image?
yes
I see
doesn't matter because it fucking removes transparency from png's anyway
iMessage? So it's a text/email? Just send the image...
The sticker it makes is not transparent? I thought they were
imessage stickers—like, actual stickers can be attached to messages, photos, and embeds in conversations like you're literally sticking them on there
Hey, I just ordered some LG Ultragear monitors, but the power cables are too short to properly cablemanage, can anyone recommend a place where I could get longer power cables of decent build quality?
Oh Jesus, I tried adding a sticker, it didn’t show it was adding them, and I threw in a whole spam text of them
no what it does is when you import the photo into your photos library, it removes the transparency; then when you try to add it as an imessage sticker it uses its on-device AI to try to crop out the background it just fucking added by removing transparency
image.jpg
Really? Cuz I could swear it saves transparency all along
sunborn you bastards
Even in gifs I save
it might not be saved between devices
i've noticed if i save a png on one apple device, it stays transparent on that device, but not when i look at the cloud-synced library on my other devices
...okay yep, it definitely loses transparency when it gets synced to icloud
original image
airdropped to ipad
synced back to mac
this is so stupid
you know what, i still find it hard to believe that the same studio that built satisfactory, is the studio that built goat simulator
From what I remember if you uploaded an image from an iPhone online it would be converted to a jpg named "image.jpg", regardless of original name or file extension. Might be different now.
If you put it in their cloud, I'm sure they compress it to save their space.
also back to the AI cropping, while this is still wrong, it is actually wrong in a way that can probably be used in entertaining ways given imessage's "place stickers anywhere" shtick
can make it look like she's holding whatever the image is
Photoshop BTFO
Hi!
y'all are right tho; at the end of the day i could just send the photos directly if i'm just reacting in-line, rather than trying to be funny
but my point is i shouldn't have to do these stupid workarounds
i should be able to at the bare minimum adjust the crop
Yk I’ve been saying for years that you can lose weight eating McDonald’s everyday if you wanted to, as long as you eat on a calorie deficit. I would get shit on relentlessly for this. Then ozempic comes out and everybody is singing its praises… eating whatever they want… but on a calorie deficit since it makes them not hungry… and still losing weight
is this a bottleneck?
Not necessarily? Depends what you’re doing
gaming
Depends on the game
If it’s a cpu intensive game then no, if it’s a GPU intensive game then I’d say yes
arnt all games gpu intensive
No
like fortnite for example
No not all games are gpu intensive, lots of games are cpu intensive. Especially games with destruction, or like Minecraft is cpu intensive, terraria too
Your CPU does what is on your screen/in your game. Your GPU just says what it looks like
Fortnite is very cpu heavy tho
i just bought an rtx 4070ti super and my game is running choppy on fornite i was testing it keep dropping to 60 fps every second
Here’s a quote “Your CPU handles tasks like physics calculations, audio processing, and keeping track of all the players and objects around you.”
Also the TYPE of cpu usage is different even among different cpu dependent games
can anyone suggest why this new gpu is running so choppy?
Like is Minecraft actually multi core yet? (Java)
Correct. That’s why a “bottleneck” is a very nuanced topic
I don’t believe so. That’s why if you’re building a server most places recommend a cpu with as strong single core performance as possible
Yep
That’s why most servers are maxed out at like 200 players
On a single instance*
Obviously Hypixel has like 100,000 players but along much smaller individual hubs and such
id also recommend switching task manager to show logical processors and show kernel times cuz why not
Looks like it's the CPU that's struggling? Or did it run fine with your prior GPU? In which case you might need to update drivers.
it was running fine with my previous gpu
i am using geoforce expirence
it says i dont need a new driver is there something else i should have installed
Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) - Remove AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL Graphics Drivers Cleanly - DDU is a driver removal utility that helps you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, leaving no leftovers behind, including registry keys, folders, files, and driver store.
You’ll probably want to fully uninstall your old drivers and reinstall the ones for the new card
ok will do
Can’t promise it’ll help, but it definitely won’t hurt
Component video is an analog video signal that has been split into two or more component channels. In popular use, it refers to a type of component analog video (CAV) information that is transmitted or stored as three separate signals. Component video can be contrasted with composite video in which all the video information is combined into a si...
Are there actually people who don’t know what those are. Is this what it’s like to feel old?
where is the best place to reinstall drivers?
Just your GeForce experience
Do you know what SCART is
I’m good with cars not this 5 pin bullshit
Component Video is using chroma/luma based video
I just need an adaptor that goes to HDMI
Guys wanna know something interesting. It involves a bit of yap tho
component is considered by higher quality because it has all layers in their own channel and doesnt share "bandwidth"
And for further information, Y is "Brightness", Pb is Blue Color DIfference, Pr is for red color difference
Take out the Pr you end up with something like this. Take out the Y you end up with a dark picture
Pb and Pr you get black and white
when i try opening geoforce expirence it just asks or permission and then doesnt open
i used that download link
You can always download the drivers manually from nvidias website
ok i will probably do this then
What should I name the custom mini PC project
Kang
Rapture
Or Andre. Andre would be funny
Kang is so much cooler tho. Is like king Kong, but scaled down to human sized.
It’s fume time 😈😈😈😈
Kang is already something though
Idk I just think it’d be funny to name a mini-pc after Andre the giant
Kang is like marvel stuff
Is that a modular power supply? Either it's not and those are extra cables, or if that's a prebuilt then those were left in there just in case you want them. At least that's my guess
Whered you get this PC if I may ask?
Gotcha. Ya either it's a non-modular power supply and those cables are just sitting there, or it is a modular power supply and either they left them sitting there just in case you wanna use them, or theyre already plugged in ready for you to throw stuff in when you want to upgrade
oh alright, also could you help me with the lights, i cant get them to turn on for the life of me
im using armory crate and restarting but they still stay off
Like, motherboard RGB or something? Or can you not address the lights? Or both?
just the rgb's in the computer so i massuming bothm i turned them off once when i was watching gladiator 2 and didnt want the light and they've never turned back on, even when i changed the setting in armory crate
Gotcha. It's been a while since I used armory crate but I'd try double checking that the software sees the RGB, you mentioned you restarted the software and windows right?
And I assume you're using Windows, if it's Windows 11 then double check that dynamic lighting isnt trying to take control
(You may need to activate windows if it isn't already to change those settings)
When a couple with the same last name have kids, is it true that the children usually choose to take the mom's last name?
They usually take the dad's last time, that's why kings always wanted sons 'so they can' pass down their name
Children don't choose shit
Have you ever tried to get a baby to fill out a form?!
They choose their genders and pronouns now adays!
and theres a bad topic to bring up
😇
Have you ever tried to get an adult to fill out a form?
Its basically the same thing
Yeah but my Kang is better
literally, adults dont even know how to shower now adays, aka me.
Anyways have yall ever used dial up internet? First time ever hearing about it rn lol. Its so retro and beautiful, i wish i was there when it came out.
Looool
You couldn't use the phone and PC at the same time
you literally dial the internet! 😆
Literally back in the day we had time limited internet
And latency was measured in hundreds of ms
Did you get free Internet coupons in the mail?
There was no streaming. Downloading a single song would take ages.
Everyone did!
The entire concept of an "LPB" has been lost to time.
no wonder you guys seem alot more knowledgable, yall started from the trenches fr lol
Im barely getting the hang of unzipping files and organizing files 🤣
I've had more years on the internet that you've been alive
literally, i have like 10 years on the internet if that.
I may have had dial up but I was born in 2000s and was a tv/ outdoor kid so I don't remember
i never got to enjoy what computers can really do in the simplicity of it.
You can store so much data in files, out of the box for OS's, download pictures, or music, and idk mess around with apps.
I feel like gaming takes away from alot of the more like, looked over parts of pcs.
Yeah, they have their mom's last name alright
probably
I think computers are simple
You have hardware, then you have the kernel, drivers and extensions, then you have the operating system, and then the software and applications
And you can have namespace emulation that tricks booted instances thinking they're running on hardware
And then physics, power efficiency, thermal regulation and availability becomes an issue just like car engines
i love it. Simplicity. 😋
And just like that, we have godlike abilities
Communicating over thousands of miles regardless of terrain and time, and being able to understand each other
Youve had hands on experience from hardware through the rest?
I myself have only experimented with hardware, and i guess applications. And recently with OS, but got my ass kicked by linux
(Network and weather constraints, satellites and gravity constraints yada yada but ykwim)
I have relatively close to zero experience with hardware and software
If you include parasocial, personal relationships and parenting, i'm pretty much inferior to Bob in all of the ways

Looool
Software is imaginary and don’t you dare let the cyber engineers tell you otherwise
Hardware is all that matters and you just have to ask them nicely to obey
🌚
Via software
No that’s not real
Hyperconvergence and distributed fabric-wide workloads cannot be automated with just hardware
You just whisper sweet nothings into your electronics
By that logic, your soul and gods are not real
Um
They aren't real, relax
I have something to tell you 😅
Based
I'm just tihs guy, you know?
so is an OS software?
Yes
the difference between hardware and software is not as hard as you might think
we are on a massive trend of making hardware into software and software into hardware
If it is hard, it's hardware
virtual machine vs FPGA
FPGAs are cool
That's why we give "intangible" stuff the name of of software
vm on fpga?
"firmware" - software that is hardware
In fact, if you have ever heard the GNU/Linux thing,
OS is actually the software on top of the kernel that gives you an interface or a way to interact with your hardware as a human.
Kernel is the software that gives other software an API to interact with the hardware.
Firmware is the software directly programmed onto the hardware that tells the hardware how to act.
Hardware is the stuff that takes instructions and outputs it as electrical signals that can be interpreted by other hardware and interfaced with.
Code makes my brain melt, I’ve tried to learn like 3 languages at this point and I just can’t
"microcode" - software that is a bit more hardware than firmware
So does the dma function as software or hardware?
I can crank out a half decent pcb in my sleep though
yes
Correct
DMA is a protocol essentially. Or a standard/feature. Its at the firmware level.
So software
many of the CPU instructions used used to be pure hardware, but now include abstractions
DMA can operate over different signaling. PCIe is the most common one you will see
PCIe is the one word i saw ealier! yay hooray
a slot for ssd on a motherboard! i think
yes
no, a communications bus
is bus a abbriviation for something?
... typically
Yes
Peripheral Component Interconnect Express
It’s soooo purrrrdy
These are PCIe Slots
bus is a thing data travels on
oh he said bus lol i thought he mean pcie. Glossed that
You knew this off the top of your head?
Yes
who doesn't?
NVMe can also work over TCP, UDP, and some others
Ok well encapsulation is another thing
so you can actually use an ssd directly over a network
it's no more encapsulated than it is over PCIe
Were putting a protocol over a signaling at that point to push DMA.
Composable Infrastructure is the same

He brought the facts to the table
.... it's a fucking blockchain coin. Of course it is a scam
I saw it more as a vod
Ive got 2 braincells then. Didnt even know it was currency..
the first thing they did was do insider trading and reap the fees
It’s literally called memecoins at this point. Anyone who hears the term memecoin and doesn’t expect a scam is beyond help
50K sold you could track it on the chain out the door
I mean, it doesn't even need to be a "scam". The entire nature of blockchain coins makes them fantastic breeeding grounds for shit that would be illegal/impossible typically
I actually stopped paying attention to bitcoin/blockchain as soon as they started adding layers to it

Y'all ever heard of the greater fool theory? Lol
This only works so long as the assets are believed to have any value at all. Starts to break down with digital goods
Bitcoin is believed to have a value of like $100k now, apparently lol
it blows my mind how much money was made
i hate how society makes the wrong people famous
I swear every new coin gets rug pulled
this bitch did nothing to deserve that $1 million or whatever lol
bitcoin has enough scale that as a whole, it's sort of ok, but it still has the inherent pros/cons of a fixed blockchain ledger
nobody does. That's literally how money works

Yes but dma is also within the pch
Yes the pch has DMA capabilities. Thats a core piece to how the PCH works
Hm, then dma <-> driver/kernel <-> on-device controller is all software
unless it isn't
Bob stop

I used NVMe SSD as an example here
I skipped firmware in the middle
typically not needed when doing passthrough DMA like that anyways

Basically 🙂
Do y'all thing arm processors will ever surpass x86 for PC use?
Still betting on RISC. Don't lie to me Angelina Jolie.
As to specifically ARM, I hope not.
It's already surpassed x86 (technically the correct term is AMD64 but potato tomato)
The only thing left for Apple to do is make their Macs open to installing Windows and Linux
https://asahilinux.org/
It's not Apple's fault the compatability is bad
But ARM (the correct term is Aarch64 which is even stupider so we'll ignore this) doesn't have x86's specific SIMD extensions that's heavily used by mathmaticians and physicists.
So for general use, ARM has surpassed x86. But that's not enough to upset AMD.
Because AMD still has the benefit of x86 CPUs and ecosystem with full ACPI+UEFI compliance, better SIMD extensions, market accessibility (you can't just willy nilly purchase an ARM server CPU as a consumer) and larger reach.
i mean apple has shown in the past that theyre willing to let windows/leenux onto the macs
theyre just not interested in spending the money to implement it which is honestly fair enough
Apple intentionally leaves Linux devs in the dust. Asahi Linux is made up of fully reverse engineered software.
Also you can't entirely replace macOS, macOS has to be loaded before you can install Asahi Linux.
Apple Macs do not have standard UEFI ACPI compliance.
Apple has no obligation to provide open hardware. They are selling a very specific user experience.
Worst part? Apple Macs are currently the best ARM implementations.
ARM ecosystem is that scheisse and fragmented
Even so called 'UEFI ServerReady' ARM motherboards aren't really truly compliant
tbh when youre running macos itself its pretty open to tomfoolery
true true
it provides enough command line tomfoolery to appease Linux users
And it provides enough GUI eyecandy and feel for the average user.
So Apple doesn't have an obligation for Linux support.
i feel like the people buying macs and hoping to run linux already know what theyre getting into lol
Seems to be more ARM's fault. ARM is bad.
I actually kinda support Apple's latest attempts to 'hunker down on 3rd party apps' requiring you to go through tons of security checks and balances to install stuff.
It's like a bar entry requirement to make sure you're really competent enough to be sysadmining your own machine.
i do wish that it would fuck off after you do it a couple times, but in general yeah its a good thing
That's just how it is in Linux too so it's not too annoying for me
What's interesting is how 'similar' in principle macOS's service manager is to systemd. Perhaps it was an inspiration for systemd.
How do you right click in macOS?
with the right click on your mouse?
With a regular mouse lol
if you mean on their laptop trackpads specifically, you just click with two fingers
I did try out the magic mouse, it's not bad! Would've liked it to be a bit more ergodynamic but if you're an apple fan with tiny feminine hands, i can see the appeal to it.
magic mouse is a cool concept with terrible execution lol
honestly I wished i had tiny feminine hands, would've made computer repair a lot more bearable
I have tiny feminine hands. It's a very uncomfortable mouse.
really? hmm....
that being said, i still use the magic mouse sometimes because gestures are a lifesaver
i cant imagine using anything but a magic mouse in my line of work though
Apple trackpads are still the best in class though nowadays some Windows Laptops are coming very veeerry close to it
IBM solved this in 1992.
Huge pc guy but Looking for recommendations on wireless headset compatible with series x for around $75 or so
Apple Silicon isn’t just “normal” Arm
And this is why I am FORCED to learn pure CUDA to use my 2x A100 workstation
Like which one? The xps? A
You should try the Mx 3 or the trackpad
Because if you're Apple, why would you spend money and time to let your competitors use your hardware without any effort?
Be open but let them do it themselves
What is your point here
Idk I just woke up
That's literally what I said lol
ye just realized
Apple doesn’t care whether or not enthusiasts use macOS on Macs
Like they should
Yes but you were referring to other OSes as competitors
Technically it is
Especially like Linux distros competing which one can kill itself first before Ubuntu does
Or how it can be more barebone like Gentoo or Arch
Apple doesn’t sell macOS
macOS isn’t a product, it’s a feature of a Mac
So since Microsoft makes laptops and it comes with Windows by default like MacOS
A product is a complete item that can be sold on its own, while a feature is a specific part of a product that adds value but can't be sold separately
Does it mean Windows is a feature of Surface laptops and all?
No.
Windows is still a product.
OneUI isn’t a product, it’s a feature.
Microsoft allows you to download Windows from their website in form of an ISO file.
Apple does not.
Weeeeellll
Technically they do it'll just refuse to run on anything other than a Mac lol
Trying to run it on a custom PC would be pointless.
Not pointless. People do it
Have not seen any to be honest.
I can also download an absurd amount of their other os images from App Store Connect
Strange? Yes.
Pointless? No.
If you wish to use mac then buy a macbook
Even the cheap ones are good enough to do alot of productivity jobs.
This is something that bothers me the most to be honest, people saying that MacOS cannot do this and that like Linux even though the percentage of people who would do that is like 0.1%
Why do people put spoilers on their shitbox cars? Just buy a Porsche
I am going to put an 18" cone sub in my car and no one will stop me
I think Mac is pretty good in terms of productivity.
I own one myself and it works pretty well.
Fear me other drivers on the road
So you’re one of those people?
Lol no
Linux is good if you value insane levels of customizablity and appearance, which personally I do not.
Mac is good for 'everyday laptop'. Battery last long, this and that. and if I wanted to work I just ssh it to my Linux server
A sub came with my car and I got rid of it
It's like every OS has their own use
Exactly.
Personally I feel the Linux community becomes too toxic when it comes to other OSes
I don’t think that’s a very significant reason most people use Linux
Hello
Yes, I am aware Linux users like freedom and all too.
The big reason is so they can tell the entire world which distro they use
Once again I really don’t think that’s much of a reason for most
I love Linux. All the distros are great. It everything runs like crap. The games and everything sucks. But everything Linux exclusive is great
Linux also has uses in specific works.
I am a Cybersecurity student and I use Kali Linux as my secondary OS, and alot of my time it spent on it.
Tux Racer? :p
Exactly.
"I use Arch btw" is such a common thing I have seen.
Never mind there’s a windows build of Tux Racer
I use Ubuntu btw
Most people who run Kali are script kiddies who think they can hack everything.
I am very toxic against Linux run on consumer hardware
Because they can!!!
They are haxx0rs!
Why lmao
I personally believe a good linux system should be just a terminal.
Good news you can have that too
Fuck KDE, GNOME is a bloat.
But others don't want just that
I have 3 to be exact and I am not turning back.
This guy uses arch
Ubuntu server and Nvidia DGX Ubuntu
Actual hacking requires writing your own exploits. It requires alot of social engineering and sometimes breaking into places too. There is alot which goes on instead of just running 1-2 scripts from youtuber and thinking youre a hacker
And is 5x less productive than if they just used a minimal GUI :p
I personally hate Linux users who think they are superior simply cause of their OS.
I daily drive ChromeOS.
Like alright, your hobby is working on your desktop to customize, alright.
Thats not my hobby and I like to have a life, let me be happy with my windows.
Clearly this man is superior
I actually could for most of my work
They're not. Every OS has its own use
Like Windows for general programs and gaming, MacOS for "I want Linux-like experience but with Windows-like creature comfort", Linux for all pure play, ChromeOS
Is it cheating if I use Windows App inside ChromeOS?
Then I could do everything on a Chromebook
Most of the people in the programming industry who specifically work on apps for windows, are using windows.
If youre designing apps for a particular OS, better to be on that particular OS.
A Linux user, vegan, and crossfitter walks into a bar. Within 10 seconds, everyone at the bar knows who they were
were
Hawk Tuah
Thanks for making me laugh 😂
Tbh the only reason why I use Linux is most of the shit I need to do works there damn well
Same reason for me.
My cybersec programs run on it, so I use it through a Live USB.
I have a Linux jump server
It's a good compute machine
And I can have multiple users SSH-ing into it at the same time and shit
Gaming is still better on windows, right?
Yes, and always will be.
Yea thats an advantage

I also have dual A100's with ARM and I know it would be shit if it runs on Windows
WoA doesn’t have dedicated GPU support yet does it?
Probably
I don't use WoA
And because of it, I need to learn how to CUDA
Computers are bloatware.
Work on a typewriter, that is best.
Yep still doesn’t have it
If I say DE is a bloatware, the entire linux ricing community would hate me
Fr
Like
what type of third party apps you be trying to download exactly though??
I am so addicted to terminal to the point I have iSH (Basically Alpine Linux) on my iPhone and I can SSH to my main machines with it
Don't worry, they hate everything which doesn't run on linux, that includes humans
Coding on an iPhone
This shit is aarch so I can't use regular ML libraries to do work, so this is just some "I did shit in CUDA just because I can"
Crazy
I use vim on an iPhone.
How?
During lab meeting I need to diagnose my code since I am porting it from Apple MPS to CUDA
I took out my phone and connect it to my server and just code there
and run the shit there
I do cad on my phone like weekly
The thing about vim is you only need a keyboard and arrow keys to work.
🌚
yall showing me things i wouldve never seen in my whole life.
Sometimes I feel a bit like ☝️🤓... actually a megabit 😉
So you just ssh into the terminal and use vim like that?
Yes
Can it be done on android too?
Technically it can as long as it has ssh
so what exactly you be telling your pc to do when your out and about?
I can also do scp and shit to pull files.
thats hot
What’s the best sounding and build keyboard
I want something that will last me a while with a very light mouse too
I can SSH to my jump server via tailscale or to my authorized server wiht it
Do work with it, run shit with it
It's just another way to access it
Usually if I need to train models I just go to bed, open tmux, and run the script
Then detach, and logout.
And sleep.
im too noob to comprehend.. I wont bother asking wtf tmux is. Mimis time
My contact just fell out into my fuckjng thing of epoxy
Tmux is basically windowed terminal
What are the odds 💀💀💀
So one of the things on tty only systems is you're limited to 1 screen
Tmux allows you to run windows of them and run different operations at the same time
ah i see, but what you mean train models?
I'm a ML student
Like here, I have one pane for the code I have, Nvidia-SMI so I get the vram use, and open terminal
Machine Learning
i wish i could look at that page closer to read the code.. im running windows os through my microwave rn so the screen is very limited
do i have to download it to zoom in lol?
Is a super small watch battery and a led considered tech here
Hi

The definition of technology is so broad, that yes. As long as you can make is more complex than necessary by being extremely pedantic.
I have quite a few watch batteries laying around, and I commonly use them to quickly test LED's.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uHZB7-T_XA
Good video on LED's.
You guys can help me out over at Patreon, and that will keep this high quality content coming:

Depends on your price range and stuff
If you want a keyboard which allows you to set actuation points, you can go for Wooting keyboards
If you just want a keyboard which is good for gaming, typing and provides a good experience with fairly okay price, I'd suggest a company like Keychron.
They have wide variety of keyboards in different sizes, with different switch types and overall a very good company
If you want a VERY GAMING CENTRIC keyboard then go for companies like Wooting, Razer, steelseries etc etc
Opinion of Duckys?
Also pls stay away from Logitech, just a personal advice
Oh yes Duckys are also so good
Shit I should have mentioned ducky keyboards too
They are really good
I sampled one at a Microcenter, and it made me want one lol
I definitely would have chosen Ducky keyboard for my life if it was available in my country
I had to go with Keychron
Though Im still happy with my choice
I saw a Keychron there too, it looked cool
Handbrake, OnlyOffice, just gotta go through the hoops of installing iterm2 and the nix package manager :P
then it's kinda smooth sailing
Keychron and Ducky are the two companies I can recommend for a casual gamer who also needs to type
These 2 companies are not crazy expensive and provide a really good experience
And their keyboards come in many flavours so you can get that keyboard enthusiastic feel
funnily enough I have a better experience in macOS and Linux than Windows
DLL hell and Registry hell.
Linux
Dependency hell
Are all of Samsung's monitors smart monitors? I swtg I hate smart monitors
i don't understand what you're trying to say
I have most experience in windows and then mac and then linux
Every OS has their own hell.
I mean obviously for me I'm """Seasoned""" but I also think that Linux shouldn't be adopted by the general public just so soon. We still have a lot of cleaning up to do.
Though any competent package manager will not have that problem.
honestly, true, but i chose the poison that I had the most resistance to
I agree with that too
I think Linux community needs to become more mature in terms of their behaviour towards other OS 💀💀
Gatekeeping is really bad on Linux
Also Linux and macOS has an updating system that isn't made up of cards glued together with elmer's glue
honestly yeah
Yea pretty sure from what I read about Linus Torvalds, he has been very rude and toxic in the public
also hey is your nickname a reference to the Nightingale Pledge
Torvalds is a fun guy. Say's what he's thinking.
I think sometimes the Linux community gives very stupid arguments when trying to prove that their OS is better.
Video from Linus's home interview.
I'll have to defend Torvalds a bit.
I think he's rude and a bit toxic but only to the right people. Most of his 'angry comments' are through Linux mailling lists.
And given the security stakes that the guy has, being in charge of the one thing that many governments and companies rely on for business, I think he was quite okay given the immense stress.
LOL
Because he knows that if he fucks up he'll screw over tens of billions of dollars
The linux users would often just say "oh 90% of servers and non-desktop devices run on Linux"
Bro so what?
The discussion is about desktops, what matters is desktop, why are you bringing up the market share of other devices
You cannot change the fact that desktops are 2% on Linux
Glad it's up to 2% now.
Linus Torvalds nowadays is a lot more calm
ok I think i've finally figured it out-
I don't dislike android. I dislike OneUI
been toying with a pixel 9 pro and a moto razr+, and those seem great
but on the fold 6 or 24Ultra, something about the UI just feels bad man idk
Like, a lot. Which is good.
Fair enough thats understandable
OneUI is so annoying
I agree
Im just annoyed that whenever the topic of desktop market share comes up, linux users would start referring to non-desktop devices to prove their point
Returned my Flip6/7 whatever because I hated OneUI
Not all Russians, the ones that are involved directly in the Russian MIC
Some Russians that are solo/hired elsewhere are not affected whatsoever.
As in the Russians in charge of companies making ballistic missiles .etc
the pixel 9 pro xl is the first phone after the fold 5 to make me want to move away from iphone
my fold 5 broke, and i really didn't like oneUI
idk i'm super bored with my iphone, but i've disliked every android phone i've had since the oneplus 3T lmao
but i'm deeeeeeeeeep in the ecosystem so the transistion would be rough
And Linus Torvalds is a Finn, Finns have had a long angry history with Russia at large :P
I just wish zee-flip would run iOS :(
rumor mill is a spinnin for a flip style iPhone in the next couple of years
Yes. And they swear a lot in casual conversation from what I've experienced.
Also if they made the exterior screen not useless
peeeeerrrrrrkeleeeee
the exterior screen on the razr+ is wayyyyyyyy better than the flip 6
Just use whatever OS you are comfortable with. Easy!
I give it 5 years 😆
but no matter how often I reccomend it, people always go for the flip cuz muh smassumg
The Flip6 was only really used for notifications and even for that you had to put in your pin/ fingerprint so it’d be quick to just flip it open
yeah its almost like a smartwatch interface
i push people as hard as possible to the pixels or razr, but they ALWAYS just want the fuckin S24FE
blablabla s24FE
ALL DAY
most every carrier will THROW a pixel 9 pro XL at you for basically free, and yet people would rather pay tons for a midrange samsung
Anybody know why my question in the help channel get removed without any notice? I don't understand it
They were perfectly justified, even removing the war russians fucking suck at programming
Sort of free - if you have to sign a contract or otherwise raise the cost of your phone plan to get the "free" phone, it's not actually free. 😉 I can get a Pixel 9 Pro for "$0" upfront, but only if I'm willing to add $58.21 CAD to my monthly plan, which means I'll be paying over $100 CAD per month instead of what I'm currently paying. It's not free.
That's what we call financing
what i normally say is that the 'gotcha' is that we're not giving you the phone for free, we're paying your monthly installment. so you're technically still under a ""contract"" by way of owing on your phone, but that will only come into play if you want to leave or something in the next 36 months
since the launch of the pixel 9 pro xl, if you bring in something that has a $35 trade in value, your monthly payments are covered
and its such a good phone
but i've sold maybe 3, ever
aha, couldn't see it when i was looking for it
Bingo. You're financing the phone on subsidy. They're not giving you a free phone. ✅
yeah, so as long as you haven't had any recent complaints with your carrier, i don't see why thats an issue
thats how i've gotten all my phones at least
Carrier phones suck. You're bootloader and in the case of NA, carrier locked. And you pay more for a shittier phone
