What Aldo said; as long as you have some kind of airflow (even passive), you can see how things perform before purchasing fans. I didn't add fans to my latest build until I could afford them - it ran a bit toasty, but otherwise just fine with only the CPU heatsink and GPU fans for the first 3 months.
