Raccoons can be really awesome, and they seem to like me... 😄

I fell asleep on a park bench one delightful winter evening in upstate NY, and when I woke up, I discovered two baby raccoons had used me as a bridge to get into the garbage can behind me. I called the local animal rescue , and they came to take them, and we discovered the mama raccoon had been hit by a car just up the road. They brought the babies back a few weeks later and let me bottle feed them.

But the one in the picture here, had a sibling, both were born without eyes, and a friend was fostering them before they got released to another wildlife park. She said they little fellahs didn't like anyone... but the second I showed up, they blindly ran over to the edge of their enclosure and stood up. I got to pet and hold them for a bit, they seemed content in my arms 🙂

lol, good question, but, I like the cold, I like night time. I was working nights at a gas station at the time, and the freeways got shut down, and I got snowed in at work. So I went outside for a bit (bundled up in winter clothes), locked the doors to the gas station, and sat on a bench in a little park right next to the store. We had no customers for 4-5 hours, nobody could even get to us. So I set my alarm for 2 hours and just took a nap sitting there. It was very cozy. 🙂

My winter jacked was zipped all the way up over my nose, my knit cap was pulled down around my ears, I had fluffy, warm gloves and comfy hiking boots. But finding tiny little footprints across the front of my coat when I woke up was.. odd. And then I realized what had woken me was 'scratching' sounds in the trash can behind me. It was one of those little trash cans with the one-way doors, it only swings inwards. And the little baby raccoons had climbed up me, over me, and through that door and gotten stuck inside. When I shined my flashlight in to find out what was in there, they didn't try to hide, didn't hiss or anything, they just sat there shivering.

Though, in NY they always warned us about the fear of rabies and how "raccoons avoid people unless they are rabid" but.. I grew up in Washington state, and raccoons that grew up around populated areas don't really run from humans or avoid them. They might keep their distance, but.. I wasn't really too worried. Which is why I called the animal rescue people. They tested them, they were rabies-free, and I got to bottle feed them, so, win / win. 🙂

<--- bit of a photography nerd... to a point. 36+ years photography experience... self taught long before I ever went to college and got a scholarship with my photography, then I worked in the college dark room for a couple years, assisting in teaching people how to develope negatives, film and prints. Then I got into digital.

I tend to lean towards landscapes, nature, and shiny things.

Currently using my favorite camera, a Nikon D610 full frame dslr. I've also got a Nikon D7000 body with an aps-c sensor but I'm most likely going to sell that to fund my new pc remodel, as the only one I really use is my D610. I had even won a $3,000 Fujifilm XT-3 mirrorless package from Art of Digital / Adorama Camera a few years back, but I didn't much like it compared to my Nikon. So I sold it one of my aunts for for a fraction of what it was worth, so she could get back into photography.

Currently i have an assignment and the classmate who i borrow my camera from is currently out of town. He used a nikon d3500 so i have some experience with a dslr

Currently my options from Facebook marketplace (ebay, mbp or any other site is not viable and or possible) and currently my options for a strict 200$ budget cameras are canon 1200d, m3, 600d, nikon d3100, sony nex 3, olympus om-d mk1

Other cameras are listed but those are the main ones I'm considering

I switched purely to digital in 2005 after my apartment got broken into and I lost almost $6+ k worth of my life. So, I had a Canon 40D and a Nikon D610, and Nikon D7000, as well as the Fuji X-T3 since 2005.

Besides those DSLRS and mirrorless, I had these other digitals, an Olympus E-PL1, A Canon F45FD, and a Canon S3-IS. So, LOTS of digital experience. 😄

The difference is, tempered glass on PC cases is usually very thing, and if the little screws that attach them to the side of your case somehow come into contact with the glass (they USUALLY have a little rubber grommet that prevents this) the little threads on the screws can cause micro-fractures at the edge of the tempered glass and then they WILL just.. pop and then it's fun to clean up.

Of all those cameras, the Canon M3 is the newest (made starting in 2016), while the rest are starting back in 2010 on up. The M3 also has built in WIFI so you can control it with your smart phone like a remote screen, very hand to have.

There's also a number of technological advances that the M3 has over the others, because it's newer.

If you shoot your images in RAW format on the camera, when you open it with either Lightroom or Photosho; there are a number of noise removal tools.

Shoot everything in raw, as it captures a LOT of data (in the shadows and highlights) that you can then edit to give you FAR better images than if you just shot in jpg format.

ok, if you were actually being 100% serious about linux, I would reccomend debian, it's pretty simple and very stable. It's not the most "fun" unless you really tinker with it, but it's a very utilitarian distro

ubuntu is really easy to start with, really easy to set up, and is very beginner focused... its based on debian, so you get all the benefits of a stable distro, but, not massively out of date... with arch, you have a learning curve so steep, it may as well be a wall... and you have a massively up their own arse gate-keeper community to go with it who are all high and mighty about their OS being THE OS that people should use, but at the same time, not helping anyone to use it who doesnt already know how to use it

Bad backs are no joke.... I've got 3 vertebrae that are rEALLY cuddly with each other due to multiple injuries as a teenager. A hockey incident when I was 12 when a classmade put me facefirst into a brick wall, which broke my jaw in 3 places, knocked out 2 teeth, and squished my neck and back a little.
