Can anyone help me out with a decision on a GPU upgrade? I got a 3070 during the great crypto boom because 3080s were just unviable. I'm now actively putting off some great games until I can experience them with playable frame rates with path tracing enabled.

I had originally planned to get the 5080 but that's, listening to the leaks, going to be an absolute consumer nightmare with it's price/performance, and supporting the already toxic business practices of Nvidia.

Would it be more prudent to buy a 4080 super now, wait for 5000 series to decimate the prices of 4000, or will the 5080 still be "worth" the price all things considered?

I currently have a 7800x3d so I'm not going to be cpu bottlenecked.

Or go for more fps for an overall better experience.
