Solution for this would be a compromise by way of a togglable setting. Those who want to see full links can toggle a setting that shows both the actual link and link text. (For the record, I would also want to enable this setting, but to @shut lichen's point, there are plenty of legit uses for Markdown links too.)

Really... there's no good way to offer both options, unless they implement the above compromise to appease people. Not offering markdown links means ugly URLs for days. Offering markdown links means someone, somewhere will always find a way to mangle the system. I love to hate to love UI/UX design.
