I've been unimpressed by the other phone options around that price lately, not because of specs or anything, just overall design and feature set.

Same goes for laptops, the Windows stuff has been very unappealing lately. I found a Macbook M1 for like 630 bucks and I would like to do a full transition at some point to Macbook+iPhone.

im a software developer, so i use it a lot with work, because the build tools on linux, even MS's dotnet build tools... run faster on a ext4fs under linux, than they do on ntfs under windows.. but i use visual studio within windows, because the development experience is nicer... i use ubuntu as my daily driver on my home laptopp, but not my main home pc... because the laptop just needs to browse the web, watch videos, and get email for me and my wife... my main pc, i game on, so even with steam+proton, windows is still a much better experience for me on that... but... those are me, and my choices... you are your choices may well be different

windows may not be actually scalling everything, i would expect that they scale UI elements, but just render the fonts at native, at a larger font size

for true scalling, and for it to look nice, you need integer scalling... everything else, whatever OS you use, fakes it in various ways

yeah, leave it on 100% and turn the font size up, the UI elements will grow bigger to accommodate the larger font size... which is effectively what windows does when you want it to scale a 1080p display

you can fake that in your drivers, custom resolutions... amd even SUPPORTS this feature... lets you render at 2k, and scale to 175%... and then the drivers "fix" the rest for you so it appears as if you have scaled to a sub 100% number

Virtual Super Resolution... allows you to render upto 4k, and then scale it back down to native screen resolution, but you can also have windows apply its own scale factor to that 4k before amd brings it back to your screen pixels for you

In my opinion, an obligation to review should never be terms of a honest review. Channels rely on being able to upload videos that will perform well and uploading a negative review could negatively effect the reviewer. I'm pretty sure I've heard Linus echo this too.

The publisher I'm discussing this with is trying to hammer that they send review copies for free, no strings attached but just declared that anyone that didn't review their product after receiving it for free, regardless of reason to be stealing from them. It just seems unhinged to me.
