There are literally hundreds of motherboard designs. Not only was that a high end board, it's experimenting with a new memory module standard.

It's not gonna be the de facto interface for motherboards any time soon, if ever. But it's damn cool they exist.

Also, if the desktop standard ever does change to a CAMM2 style module in the future, you'll have to buy it anyways. CAMM modules are still upgradeable

Yeah in terms of being full ATX motherboards right now I am against it but I see the benefits in a mini ITX build though

And if/when desktop switches to it, you won't be able to use old DDR4/5(or even 6) dimms anyways

besides, we're moving towards fewer dimm count on desktop anyways

I'd like to see more z890/x870 atx boards go 2 dimm

Personally I think full ATX right now is not a good idea and going for many ITX in terms of the new memory standard is a good idea because of the small form factor

personally I'd love to see more options in mATX

technically ITX is fine, but I'd like to be able to have a few extra nvme slots

and GPUs are so large these days they basically extend from top pcie slot to mATX board length

i think that from a purely objective standpoint a microATX board with 2 dimm slots makes the most sense for consumers

All of those restrictions were removed except for users with no roles
