actually just use the old M240i as an example

ZF8 will make the engine do about 1.8k at 110mph (70ish mph), the 6 speed manual version is closer to 2.5k

and with auto you have more steps towards the max speed so it saves more fuel in the city

Tbh in my diesel I don’t care about fuel economy, I could redline at every gear and I’d still get 36mpg, if I’m super nice to it I can touch 50mpg

That’s fair, the 2.5 Inline 5 was pretty bulletproof but the early generation TSI engines weren’t great

Mk7+ they’re solid as long as you keep the oil topped up. If you let the oil get low you can run into issues with the variable valve timing and blow your shit up
