So my coworker quit and when he did he had a lot of projects that he was in the middle of, and I’m finishing putting one back together right now, I can tell that the parts he did are not up to my standards but were so behind I’m just sending it instead of ripping it all back apart to redo it, since that will take at least an extra couple days

I don’t feel good about it, but when it breaks again the front office won’t know the difference

There’s a couple things I could do to shorten its lifespan in the field but cause minimal internal damage so it gets back here faster and I can properly go through it but I think I’m just gonna do everything else right and hope. Only issues are if his repairs fail first (which they will) things could get expensive fast

"fiddling with RAM sticks" is not fixing memory usage unless you are losing the whole RAM stick in OS. What might be fixing it for you is the OS restart itself

Maybe - had the bios read 1 ram stick, turned the pc on.

Then got back to 2 sticks - possibly that initiated the restart

Simply restarting pc with a hard shut down retained the issue

look at amount of RAM if it happens, and Resource monitor for HW reserved. You might have issues with stuff like overtightened CPU cooler (reinserting the RAM release the tension from the board) or just problematic memory controller in the CPU
