you see, the mr2 was made to comply with california ultra low emissions regulations, this means they slapped on two extra catalytic converters that only really do something when the car is cold
the thing is, due to a piston ring design flaw the car burns oil, which destroys the precats and breaks them down into small pieces, this wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for the fact the engine does some funny variable valve timing in place of a normal EGR valve, so the exhaust sometimes takes air in, so you may end up having the engine ingest metals, which as you can probably guess is no bueno

problems like, it will crack and flake off, paint isnt designed to go on rubber that is on the cables. the VOC's in paint can dissolve the plastics in your case

the paint can degrade the rubber, the paint can crack and flake off, and, those flakes can be electrically conductive, landing on electrical components... so its not the looks you need to care about, its the paint falling off into something and blowing up your motherboard and cpu
