Rendered FPS != Monitor refresh rate. You'd need a 500Hz+ monitor to enjoy Counter Strike 1.6 rendered at 500+ FPS using today's graphics cards. With a 60Hz display, you'd only ever be able to see 60/500 rendered FPS. (unless I misunderstand things - it's been a LONG time since I cared about high refresh rate displays.)

All I have to say is, holy shit. The difference in both picture quality and refresh was way bigger than I thought. I was really surprised how smooth 120hz felt.

Honestly, I can live with 60hz, but I would be lying if I said 120hz didn't feel really good. Really want to try 240hz some day just to see what it feels like, but I am fine with 120/144/165hz. My monitor that I have yet to use is either 144hz or 165hz (1440p), and I would like to see how that compares to 120hz.
