Once the CPU thermal throttles (by design in most laptops), then you get all sorts of hitching ant stuttering as the CPU has to pull back on power and issue interrupts

Yeah, the CPU in a laptop will run as fast as it can within thermal limits. Rarely will the HSF accommodate with extra headroom. And vendors won't reduce power to the CPU unless it's an ultralight laptop

It's safe for the CPU. But once it hits the thermal limits, it doesn't gracefully cut back, but issues interrupts. So...it can cause micro stutters to a dGPU

So to reduce that, you have to tell the CPU to not overclock, or provide better cooling.

Because Nvidia is abandoning the entertainment segment for higher margin datacenter hardware. But again, they will come back to market groveling to gamers. At this point the market is Intel and AMDs to lose if they don't capture market share with good products.

Those are not mcm/chiplet based, yet they're intended to be a limited form of an evolution of RDNA3, so I feel like their driver support is gonna get weirder because they're basically dialing things back before they reach RDNA5 and that's gonna go full-on chiplet again the way they intended originally.

HW layer is different than silicon architecture. At least Intel's approach with Xe is scalable which makes driver support more unified and easier to tune and support. RDNA isn't that much different, but if RDNA5 is a complete rewrite and not expanding on RNDA3, that means their driver maturity will go back to zero

RTX nailed SLI shut (it was already on the way out prior anyways). That has to be in one memory footprint, and so the bandwidth between cards via the SLI connect module can't scale due to bandwidth and latency. It becomes an ever more bottleneck with each GPU generation.

So while NVLink replaced SLI, it would be too cost prohibitive to implement on consumer cards. In fact, the consumer lineup doesn't even have HBM 😦
