The issue isn't dx12 doesn't support sli, it's dx12 requires the developer to enable and support sli for their program. Afaik no dx12 video game actually runs sli.

Some of the dx11.5 games skate by, but that's about it. It's a little depresso when you stare at task manager and notice that only one of your GPUs is being used.

The main issue is that MS tried to force some of their restrictions for Win8 and failed. So instead of working better with OEMs to have TPMs turned on by default and such, they just waited until W11 to try again out of the blue. Plenty of compatible CPUs are out there with the softTPMs that defaulted to off

And yeah, it's shitty that otherwise working hardware has to be replaced. That'll be a ton of e-waste. An Intel 6XXX or 7XXX system can still be working just fine but it'll be without a supported version of Windows in 2025 unless people get access to LTS.
