Can I fix them? Yes. Will I? Probably not.

Nah, the RAM controller is on the CPU. It will address it as single or dual channel. Dual channel boost performance because of interleaving too

Now, having 2 sticks in dual channel is preferred as latency can be kept low. But it's splitting hairs between dual channel 2x and 4x DIMMs. Though, for AMD at least, it's recommended to only use 2x DIMMS if you can. Not required, but recommended for stability with high clocked and/or low latency DIMMs
