The 4X slot at the bottom of the board is gen 3 and it does not affect the lane division from the processor. If I were to plug in a card to the middle slot, it would downgrade to 8X on the top and middle slot.

In the future, if I need to get a second graphics processor and run it in gen 4 8X mode that is an option

However, everything in this computer build is meant to be upgraded over time, so it is very future proof
