Tbh already that's kind of bunk. Why is essentially GUI framework inside of a plugin that deals with input and output of audio streams. And a few other important relevant ones like the sample rate, etc. The parameters are values. Real number and set of real number tbh. That's it.

Then again you still want other data like string, char. You want every type of data to be inputted as param tbh. Not as it relates to the actual digital audio stream but still you could have even TTS like harmony assistant did. Generator

It's aimed at control interface for generally notes, a few parameters about the note like velocity, pitch, modulation somehow. Not sure maybe modulation is separate as event. It's basically events. Note on and off are events. I think that there are those general param1,2,3... and some value also as events. But event like note has parameters itself

Velocity is mostly treated as the individual volume of note. Makes sense to have it for touch keyboard. Probably a good idea. It really matters for the note on but tbh why not make velocity as setter event with a parameter for a specific note? So you can have keyboard with touch output event just before or at the same time as note on and the vel event's parameter note is set to that very one. Do this for all note on.

On one hand, the note C# has fine pitch and can start off and end tuned lower or higher without being C#. On the other, all the notes are still identified as one of them. Your generator meanwhile could be using like C5-F6 to play achromatic percussion noises because it's a drum machine :P

The octaves from 1 (or was it 0) to however high it goes (I think you can go up an insane amount of octaves in midi if I remember correctly) and their 12 different steps per is a unique id for event that's basically equiv to gui mouse button pressed and released.

The events are sequential but granular. So basically MIDI has something like beats, bars I think and the bars can be set to have different amounts of beats per. Should be also there are events or some way changed it mid song. Maybe each measure has data. In that case, idk could be worse. Measures are also sequenced now like the note events. Note events are positioned on a click or something I'm remembering. There are some power of two clicks per beat lol

Like 128 clicks then a beat is counted. Beats are in a bar. At least my clavinova has measures per bar. Bar and beat idk. Are they needed or is it just something that gets in the way more? Remember: each beat is in a bar. It should be that the beat is referenced like measure 24, beat 3. Now you know how many beats are before your 0th and clearly old pc-related arbitrary number of the rest of those clicks. All events are positioned on it.

It's still a sad factor that if your DAW like FL treats midi position as its own beats (which you set at the top with one master value for entire project)... midi input and output is locked to 127 events in between each beat. That's actually why a common occurance of people starting off with whichever bpm they intended *2 is there

But FL's non-midi stuff let's say ADSR envelope of some generator (even controlled by MIDI) will be in ms. Ms is locked to actual ms. It wouldn't make any sense to do it otherwise because ultimately your guide is time in seconds as position. The sample rates of digital audio streams directly depend on just this one value basically. 1000th of whatever rate in Hz fits in there. So tl;dr, digital audio is still audio which means it is a travelling wave along some uniformly parametric 'time' or 'position'. Just a start and count minimally, right? MIDI and just those same age old digital formats never agreed nicely. You can't exactly match your controls with sample being played unless the rate is a power of two Hz. 16384 Hz should be good idk I'm tired af.

My scores are midi and I never get any serious issues because of it where I reformat the whole project and multiply all my piano rolls, etc. I have more issues because of my own stupid fault like reverb input control vs output wet. One of them you bring the volume up and it's playing the previous note. The input track mixing into it I end up having to snipe just before the note hopefully there's enough silence before it. I wanted to make just one note reverbed but I controlled the wrong value for it.

My point is that MIDI was clearly intended to have a specific use. Somebody also mentioned computer does what computer is told. That's another problem. MIDI is very old. Having some sub-10 power of 2 clicks and then a beat value + bars with data about how many beats they have... it's a hybrid mess of clearly hardware limitations, the actual objective things they represent and even possibly a relevant musical thing that actually is also relevant to the abstract concept we intended it for... only it's circumstantially added because of aforementioned limitations.

Like if you have a piano plugged into PC with Logic on Apple or FL on anything you want (so now on Linux too because they're essentially reimplimenting an open source version of FL's thing)... it's to this day often MIDI.

Honestly I've never used anything other than MIDI. I think now USBs exist because there's a port for that. MIDI is rare on cards except certain external USB/FW 'interfaces' you buy these days. If you need MIDI, I think you can still find one and buy it specifically because it has one. But USB would still be a midi interface over USB, right? Ultimately your DAWs still basically offer MIDI IN. So if you want to play notes into even the most pro standard of digital production software... it's likely MIDI

And there's no real standard dj table. Back then you could already add more decks after the 2nd. Irl, probably mostly by two's because you buy an additional controller with two. Boom 4 decks. 3 band eq on each still works. On the other hand, master controls that others don't have still work as well.

If you add a second controller, now you have two masters I guess. The second one can be programmed hopefully for some other param. Tbh just params were programmed to keyboard and remapped on the dj thing pretty sure. Makes sense for general compat. Basically midi again. You can probably do it with MIDI using up whichever events work. BPM of midi can be hidden completely and just set to whatever you used to keep track of what you saved as.

So DJ controller: midi file in a zip with a json meta or something. JSON meta contains bpm of midi file used to control the turn table. Also name of mix, author, etc because DAWs and DJ software for some reason bake in meta about the project just like audio file tag but with 3 fields only. Idk. I don't get that either. You're exporting the project 999.99999% of the time when it's distributed in any way. Project has like author title and copyright. Then skyrim like one of the characters (maybe all of them with elf face) get weird color after the game stutters with black screen briefly. Come closer and turns out it's a bunch of tiny compartments tiled on the entire texture.

Also SMA works on the intel chipset and pcie3 after last bios update. Perf increase zero if not a few fps dropped. Screen flashes everywhere starting from login to Windows desktop. I felt it was the same thing that happened before glitches so I turned it off lol. Oh well.

On the other hand, with nVidia whenever I'd get crap like that it would usually freeze and crash wddm or whatever. So AMD gets thumbs up for resiliant driver. Stability idk because it's clearly unstable but continues to run and play. At least I can exit game or finish whatever it is I was doing.
