I think the big deal now with gaming laptops is you want something with airflow. If you go thin, the chassis will eventually heat saturate and you will have a bad time.

Dude it's crazy, the video acceleration. I had a 16" Intel and its fans would be going turbo just plugging it into an external 5K display without even running an app. The 16" M1 Max I have by contrast is silent even when editing or exporting video, the fans are at 0 RPM. Battery life many many hours of editing is easily doable.
