Well, depends if you're a cashier or a salesperson. If you're just ringing up orders, sure. Working the retail jobs I did meant talking to the customer and finding out if they may need more of your stuff they hadn't thought of.
Stuff like selling a mouse and a laptop bag if someone bought a laptop, instead of just ringing the laptop through and letting the online retailers get the juicy stuff when people realized they left with too little.
