Been on my mind after they announced the investigation of such matters

Personally, I have a lot of faith in Linus.. but when you have 100 employees or more things slip through the cracks

narrow olive
#

I don't think they'd say who. I think it'd be something along the lines of: x amount of people were fired for conduct unbecoming, x amount of people received high level disciplinaries, x amount of people received standard level disciplinaries, x amount of people received written warnings

So you don't think that they replied was because maybe it's the right thing to do? It's not Linus's choice anymore, he's not CEO. It's the right thing to do and not launching an investigation could potentially have more legal consequences (Disclaimer, I am not a Canadian Citizen and as such do not know the laws)

Blue is where they tried putting cameras. And They were regularly catching people over 105 miles an hour.

Then drivers got smart and realized that it was an independent company that they didn't actually have to pay the tickets. And voted for the cameras to be immediately removed via petition because people were slamming on the brakes from 100 miles an hour down to 55 and it kept causing not only accidents but traffic.

Orange is very few exits and entrances and people don't really bunch up they just run really fast. Typically around 80 to 85.

# supple yoke That is very true especially in the states I seen dealer sell a car to a friend ...

What I had no idea when I bought my 2017 ST and then later my 2019 ST.... That I was driving the penultimate front-wheel drive car.

Everything else and I mean everything else is boring.

I don't need 500 horsepower not really going to do more than 90 mph sustained at any point in time.

I just want something that's super fun, lightweight, and you can use all the performance nearly all of the time without going to jail.

supple yoke

I agree you look at the older cars from the earlier 2000 time frame were only 200-250hp but light and great suspension and you could take corners going 30 to 50 no problem. I miss my old protege5 turbo that thing could keep up with some porsche

I had a 2019.... The only time it felt exciting was doing a 120 to 150 pull on the highway when you felt the downforce build.

What was much less exciting was right around 70 which is when it wants to begin building downforce.

The car is a bit too edgy and eager to turn in. Makes it fast on the track, makes it a pain in the ass to deal with on the highway.

In the city there's too much lag couldn't get the power like you wanted to and then it would just rip the tires off the road.

And I guess the biggest one is it felt really big because it was massive compared to the ST even though it only weighed 300 pounds more.

It lacked that ultimate pinpoint accuracy that you got with the ST.

My biggest issue with the SS superstars was that the SS turbo came out and solved every single engineering flaw that the supercharged one had.

And you can get stage 2 from the factory and put down over $270 horsepower to the ground.

Hell GM even had a stage 3 with provision for a 50 shot of nitrous that made $290 to the ground and 340 pound feet of torque! In a car that weighed 2,700 lb ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿคฏ

graceful mortar
graceful mortar

But the turbo engine were a lot weaker then the supercharged one, and gm has the stages kits for the supercharger version too.

And I know, before I blew my trans I was doing high 11

And I skipped all the gm stage kit and went right for the larger 1900 supercharger that was able to replace the small poc

Like we already knew we live in a city where people drive really really fast and are idiots on the road we're not doing drum breaks in the rear The stability control will not perform the abrasive double lane change at 70 to 80 mph with drums in the rear.

I probably worded that poorly. The big three had this disillusion that when they came to the EV market Tesla's game would be completely over and they would absolutely dominate.

This was because they ignored how important DC fast charges for mass adoption

because the vast majority of people do not have homes in the United States that are capable of charging overnight so they must go to a DC fast charger for all filling needs.

They put the cart in front of the damn horse.

The big three also thought that once I started making EVs that the government would come in and build an entire EV charging network..... Which was never going to happen.

You'd have better luck convincing Shell to do so like they have in Germany.

Pro extended battery pack will never be available to the general consumer.

That last one doesn't really matter because they had to jack the price up of the pro for fleets so you're at XLT pricing anyways.

What upsets me is Ford had the ability to jumpstart the Eevee resolution and put America back on track with the rest of the world with F-150 lightning at $40,000 if they would have stuck to what they originally claimed.

I literally know a ton about from 50 drivers and over half of them put down reservation deposits for $40,000 lightning pros only to find out when the configurator came out that consumers could not order the extended battery and the pro came with under 300 miles of range

Yes there's a point there. But typically people that are looking to buy new vehicles is because their current vehicles becoming expensive on repairs.

Especially with the recent labor price increases at least in my metropolitan area.

You're paying $200 an hour for a mechanic and they go off of book not how fast they can actually do the job.

The book says 10 You're getting charged $2,000. Even if it only took the mechanic 2 hours.

Dealers are at $220/hr for gasoline $295/hr I believe for diesel.

And cost of parts has gone up substantially since COVID. Most of what I've seen has doubled if not more.

So you're in that situation where do you continue to put money into your car where you're not actually gaining any resale value. Spending 3 to $600 every month average for the last year repairing it.

Or do you go out and get a new car.

The only reason that you sell a car is because it's giving you issues that you don't want to pay for it to fix.

So that could shove down to the next buyer

We have not found a used car to bring up to 100% functional that didn't cost at least half of its original purchase price in the first 3 months.

So I know some insurance companies allow you to pay for full coverage and then tell you later when there's a total out accident that you're not eligible for full coverage...

But there's the other thing you may be eligible for for coverage but they're going to base it off of the salvage price so the maximum you're going to get for that vehicle is the salvage price.

The problem is is when you get into these pickup trucks for instance that $18,000 one if that was not a salvage title and they were involved in an accident the insurance will be paying out approximately 25 to $27,000 because they have to use comparables from car dealers not private sellers.

2010... So it's an LMM.

Which used posts combustion injection to light off their DPFs. Which were notorious for throwing errors and pumping the crankcase full of diesel fuel.

Which means before you can even consider buying this vehicle you would need at the bare minimum full diesel compression test done. I would be uneasy about buying it without an oil analysis but unless the owner already did that that's like a month out.

You would also need a mechanic to inspect that DPF cuz that's $8,000 to repair.

And bedrotted out means frame rot which also means that the crossmember that's in the back that these chassis are notorious for is rotted out.

It's price of $5,500 because rust-free breads go for $3,000 or more. And to redo that crossmember assuming that the frame has enough meat on it to where they're willing to do it another $2,500 at least.

I could go on and all but basically I would have to see it in person. Because of the front ends also rotted up you're going to have shops charging you $4,000 to $5,000 to replace control arms because they regularly have to spend 6 to 8 hours cutting them out like it's a massive problem.

The torsion keys will completely seize to where it will have to be cut off.

Rusty 2001 to 2010 trucks are nightmares. Because the costs for something simple like a $200 control arm suddenly becomes $1,400 $1,500 aside because of the amount of labor that has to go in with trying to get the damn thing apart.

graceful mortar
long briar
pale osprey

# pale osprey Sealable drain containers are great for that too

And the reason why you have to do all this is long blocks start at 15 to $17,000 for Duramax trucks. You can technically go cheaper from like a parts store but the list of requirements that you also have to buy brings a price to 12 grand and it only comes with a 1-year 12,000 mile warranty.

Or for an extra 5 grand you get a completely remanufactured engine not just a rebuilt and you get a 5-year 100,000 mile warranty

Basically she was alluding to the company having an excessive amount of profit for the quality of product that they were putting out

100 million dollar evaluation by a company that wanted to purchase them likely means they're worth about three times that.

The company interesting and purchasing's saw money to be made.

Dropping Anker was worth over $100k. Anker didn't have that many ad spots lined up. That gives you an idea of how much money is flowing around.

And that's just initial pay that doesn't include money that they make via commission from the ''links in the video description''

The company has no debt and has dropped $10,000,000 already on labs.

They own real estate worth approximately six mil. 10 to the right buyer.

And they're saddled with real estate that has been heavily devalued from WFH. (Which is substantially cheaper for companies)

And they have a ton of debt on those real estate purchases that are now sitting empty.

One part I don't get is why Linus stays presenting so much. I know he may not be brilliant at other aspects of the business but it still seems sort of inefficient at the scale they're operating.

GOOD! Uber used to pay enough to where you could eventually justify it as long as you did it for 5 to 10 years. In 2017 that all changed.

Hopefully this also cuts the throat of Amazon with their use of independent contractors for delivery.

Out there paying $0.50 per mile driven.... Meanwhile our fuel costs were well into .22 to .30 per mile!

These gig companies need to be held accountable for the wear and tear they put on people's assets.

Especially because they all have clauses where they can drop you at any time so they could put $100,000 miles away on your car and then drop you and you didn't get a chance to ROI because you didn't get far enough in with enough time to actually begin to build profit.

TLDR; gig economies are just reverse mortgages on your car.
