LTT has quiet room, more than decent equipment from the looks of it and employees capable of doing these tests. That's hourly wage at least. If you paid me for a test with a contract or some sht, I'd still expect basically that time and wage product

But LTT idk it gives you a measurement with what you see in vid. Whatever you think cost is if you want a third party to actually measure properly and publish specs like that

However, if you download the XLSX spreadsheet and try to view ANY of the individual reports, you will find they are stored on an intranet IP address of 10.1.39.173 which isn't publicly available.

You need probably whole team of people working in lab. Imagine one person testing every single hardware for LTT? It would take up way more time because you have quickest possible turnover with as many employees as possible in lab to test simultaneously. So picture 5 devices can be tested at once in lab. 5 employees is 5x more expensive because that many salaries. You can still slash by 5 and have one person but now the last device will have its specs released after 5x the time roughly. So it's worth it however fast you want lab to run too. Then it costs what it costs. That should have exact answer without any subjectivity at all.

Given that 'true' cost, you can still subjectively argue that efficiency. Do you need to have full lab saturated at all times? So fastest possible testing? Or is it not needed? Idk lol. But your opinion can still be argued as x testing does not need to happen because x cost halved would be way justifiable for half work they do at any given time lol

If for the sake of efficiency requires leaving for a million views that an RTX 4090 can provide 300% the performance over a RTX 3090 (it can't) then the most efficent thing to do would be to terminate LTT Labs all together as the results are worthless and misleading at that point.

Or in the example I gave, if they can't even host the LTT Lab reports on a PUBLIC web server, then just don't waste the money on the HDMI test equipment and the $1,000 of HDMI cables in the first place

It's a network address. Intranet or internet idc but it usually and hopefully always tbh is the loopback address on the network interface. localhost I personally avoid using where I can because resolving it. On windows, it's I think hosts file but there's also dnscache. That's still a name resolution. 127.0.0.1 is guaranteed to be what I'm looking for in the end lmao.

I actually am well along on a java client-server game engine. It does resolve hostnames as usual but before even making a dns request, it has an additional condition if the hostname is 'loopback'

Source games I know for one have a distinction for this too. What's the diff between a loopback and a localhost? What differences can you even have? Ignoring all other loopback address. Treat it as the same thing.

loopback is a floaty term people use differently. Like in networking context 'loopback network address' is the very same 127.0.0.1 right? Just loopback though one thing it doesn't do is occur in host files or any dns server I'm pretty sure

Which is why I write loopback when my localclient is sending messages to that server instance in single app container... only it's a localserver. You really don't need the hostname and tbh can't really determine anything better than what you typed for string. Server doesn't identify itself to clients with hostname. Status for client shows network address. That is, in every instance where it's a remoteserver passing on messages over sockets.

Depends on implementation, implementations of localhost typically don't go to the send/recv buffers of the virtual interface and are just "shortcut" back, while for an application it might as well function the same, it doesn't always
A loopback operates as a full virtual interface which uses the interface send/recv buffers to push "packets" to itself.

tl;dr - Practially speaking yes, but not always, keep an eye out if you're seeing weird client -> self-hosted server behavours

But if I connected to loopback, I excepted that one string by not resolving any address (so there's a real difference because you're no longer anticipating any network addy which is required to connect anywhere). Then instead of creating a remote server that opens up connection (or tries) over socket, I make that one unique exception where the server is hosted by setting it up in its place.

The word loopback is written instead of network address because there is none. loopback seems like the only thing possibly fitting because it's not a hostname at all. Or 'not hostname'. Idk but kinda useful.
