if I'm reading this right, there's 28 cpu pcie lanes, 16 for the gpu/top pcie slot and the rest for whatever else, so you'd use the cpu m.2 slot first, and only use the chipset one for extra drives

direct to cpu is naturally a bit faster

and for this one specifically, the direct lanes are up to pcie 5.0, and the chipset lanes are only up to 4.0

If you're looking for a gaming mouse I'd recommend something more... wired... but if you're fine with the little bit of latency it's an alright choice for it.

I use it for programming/work and I use a G600 for gaming.

I think the MX Master 3 is definitely more of a work mouse than a gaming mouse though, it's got an infinite vertical scroller, a horizontal scroller, programmable side button with gestures that I don't use, and feels good overall. It also has that logitech thing where you can pair it over bluetooth to three devices at once. Good overall, except for gaming since it's wireless you get that latency and now that I've been using the G600 for gaming I realize it's nice to have all those buttons on my thumb rather than reach up to the numbers on my keyboard.

The way you optimize a 3rd party or your own physics engine is no different than the rest. Multithreaded even is kind of a problem. Off the bat, I can think of maybe finding some way if possible to break simulation up into separate broadphases

Problem is already you still did a significant portion which is just to check swept collisions, intersections, etc. Only after that can you know if bodies are touching and find ways to break them up into separate steps to even have a possible way to calculate something parallel (multi-core)
