Realistically, I'm pretty sure you always use gas even on manual box foot off throttle. I did it before only way to not use gas while it's in neutral. You gotta turn off engine. Then you're going like 60kph with engine off and the power steering etc slowly disappears lmao

But you never have a 100% efficient engine. You can cut off gasoline engine by not firing spark plugs. Certain diesel engines on like tractor I heard are a diff story.

Well when engine is 'on' idk you're idling because it still automatically gives it gas. If you're in gear on manual, the engine's rpm is whatever speed the drive is spinning at (wheels turning) at that gear. You should still be feeding it gas.

In gear, you're turning it with wheels. The question is how much power will engine brake with (hopefully not instant) and if you're doing damage to it. Like fuel injector needs electricity to work.

A gasoline engine requires three things to run - air, fuel, spark. A diesel requires two (ish - it needs to be up to temp, but eh) - air and fuel.
