I thought that for a long time with my asus vg. Turns out you can turn off and hold power button for like 15 sec or something. Then, when it turns back on, the OSD menu button triggers a manufacturer service menu. To get normal user-facing menu, you gotta press it second time :)

The main idea was specifically to turn all of that stuff off and send 255,255,255 white screen to both. Then each individual color. Another good question I just realized is if both displays are using same connection. So like ideally either HDMI or DP but both should use the same. sRGB if both support it. Should be identical

If you can get them identical signal-wise, next disable all software and driver color correction and see calibrate both displays pure white, red, green, blue, black to look identical by adjusting actual backlight, etc using OSD menus.

So backlight I'd try to get actual maxed out white entire screen on both. If an LCD shows 100% value on all subpixels in terms of the actual crystal, you can see physically the least amount of coverage of backlight. That is what you should use for matching OSD backlight brightness of both displays

You can maybe even fix differences from varying LCD panel types. On the other hand, if you have like IPS and TL or something, there's an issue regardless :-)

DCC/CI is the very thing tbh which allows changing from display adapter those settings in OSD. But on the other hand, you're left with questioning how it's implemented on display's end and whether or not whichever software/driver color correction uses it. I'd turn it off on both. Now you're left with OSD which you're sure is independent on both monitors from driver

yea the DeltaE is less then 1.0 so uncalibrated vs calibrated is virtually inpersevable on my end

But then again VA panel which I can't do much to change it's accuracy as it is in the current state already and these monitors weren't meant for creative work.

Picture whichever software or driver you're using to change image settings one of them adjusts actual backlight with the brightness slider using DCC/CI ultimately. The other monitor it's same connector and supposedly DCC/CI is on as well only the monitor itself decides to use the brightness value sent by adapter as just multiply value for all 3 color channels lol (so instead of backlight dimming, it's LCD dimming)

The display which doesn't control backlight with it will have maybe some setting in OSD for actual backlight less than 100% configured. Now 100% on both monitors in software will never set both to maximal brightness. Not unless you match the physical backlight in the OSD to 100%

But, still, now if you continue to use it, setting the software profiles for both anything under 100%, the second LCD will dim brightness by covering 100% backlight while the other will dim it. Here you can have perhaps the best scenario of both panels having identical density and panel type go to waste

Like if you have some archaic game touch it and you crash or kill process without allowing it to revert it... yeah you're now looking at entire OS with that gamma setting. Reboot machine? It will persist even in Windows 10 2023 lmfao. You have to manually go to graphics settings, recalibrate display and that's where the value is changed

Idk tl;dr my philosophy is as much of the way starting from the softest software level through toward the physical display's picture settings... should be uniformly disabled or baseline somehow. Don't alter the image with software. Ultimately, both displays with respect to your video adapter are treated the same if they have the same signal and features being sent to them.
