The reason tile renders work well on the e-core is that they can fit a tile into the L2 cache, which means that it doesn't run into the latency issues of trying to access L3 on an e-core. So it's not all or even most multithreaded workloads that work well on them,.

my point is that while the CPU is on the ring bus will consume the same amount of power, if you increase the number of rings and want to have transport between the rings it's going to hit that idle power consumption hard so while web browsing or reading a document that power draw is still going to be there.

any of you know much about video transcoding? i have a dvd tv show i'm trying to rip but am getting choppy results due to framerate, according to mediainfo the source dvd is 29.97 VFR interlaced, i'm trying to make a x265 mkv that i can use with plex

actually i tested the source by putting the disc in my uhd bluray player and turning on it's deinterlace setting, result is a nice smooth 59.94fps output
